dunno if anyone else has done this already but I felt it was fitting to make Light a waterbender since blood bending relates to the death note controlling actions, and L a firebender because lightning bending requires emotional balance and great precision

I drew their designs as like regular citizens instead of powerful figures because..I had no ideas shhhh

i will never not be genuinely sick to my stomach over the fact that light fucking HALLUCINATES L BEFORE HE DIES. like everyone else that he stood up against, near, mello, hell quite literally everyone else in the show, their deaths didnt even come CLOSE to having the effect on him that L's did. even when his own father was on his death bed the biggest thing he was worried about was him remembering mello's real name so he could write it in the death note. THATS what you want your last moment with your father to be? and yes when L dies and hes holding him in his arms hes like "thats right I WIN" but literally every other moment that follows betrays him. spending the whole rest of the show saying that without L there it's no fun anymore. seeing near as nothing more than a cheap carbon copy of L. being genuinely upset and downright insulted when near has a mask of L because he cant fathom anyone even coming close to being as worthy of L's title as L himself. other people on the task force saying that light reminds them of L, and then L standing before him being the last fucking thing he sees before he passes, SIX YEARS after his death. something about having one person linger in your mind years beyond their death because theyre the only one who has ever truly made you feel a specific way and genuinely understood you and been on a similar enough intellectual wavelength that they can provide you the mental stimulation you need in order to feel like you have a purpose. end of post theyre dragging me away again
