En tus manos encomiendo mi espíritu (Into thy hands I commend my spirit); Jesus as a wall mural, San Antonio, Texas, July 23, 2016
I believe that my subconscious sometimes sees things that I conciously don't. As a photographer I want to need to must get better at noticing the subtle details. In this case it is the irony found in the presence of the fire hydrant: its shape and the symbolism of what that shape represents. And though I dislike the presence of the Boost Mobile sign, its presence, too, is an ironic commentary of our times.

Untitled (Post-its on textured glass), 2016
I'm not certain why these Post-it notes were placed on the textured glass partition separating a small meeting space from the corridor in an office building in San Antonio, Texas. But I liked how they were arranged, and was amused at the prospect of this being accidental modern art. Or was it accidental? Perhaps someone meant to do it, recognizing that their creation was fleeting, yet doing it regardless because of a need to create.
Earlier this year I took an online course offering through #moma called "Seeing Through Photographs", taught by Sarah Meister (@themomameister), Curator in the Department of Photography @themuseumofmodernart. It has significantly expanded my way of seeing, and of thinking about photography and photographs. Art, and art practice, truly opens the mind and enriches life.
