“Would it be weird if I asked you out?” Greta questioned, as offhandedly as she could manage, pretending as if she hadn’t been thinking about asking the question for the past half an hour.
Well…it was close enough to the truth. He flashed a toothy grin at her, far too amused by her gullibility for his own good. But the way her voice wavered was enough for him to give up the ghost as fast as it came to haunt her. “We all die, love. Just depends on how.”
“Really?” Greta asked, with a gasp. She knew that people possessed ‘The Gift’ as it was more commonly called, she’d read and learnt about them in Divination back at Hogwarts, but Greta had never met someone with it- it was so uncommon she thought that she never would. “How do you see things?” She asked, unable to hide her curiosity, despite how fake his ‘abilities’ were. “Do you know how I’ll die?” Greta then questioned, shock moving rapidly around her face.
Greta is the only child to parents Annette and Kevin Catchlove, and is, as her parents say, ‘The apple of their eye’. She was always surrounded by pure, unconditional love by her parents. When she started at Hogwarts, it took her a long time to become settled in her new environment. Greta wasn’t the bubbly, ‘Mum friend’ that her friends describe her as now until she started her second year at Hogwarts.
Her Aunt, Elizabeth, or Betty, as she’s known to Greta, was the person that taught Greta to cook and bake. The two baking and cooking became almost a tradition, every Sunday Betty would babysit Greta and they’d bake for Greta’s parents. It’s a tradition the two keep to this day.
Greta’s cooking book, Charm Your Own Cheese would be released at the wrong time, 5 years after the First Wizarding War came to an end, most people were still trying to get their life back, and didn’t have the money to spend on cooking books such as Greta’s. She had lost more money than she had earned from publicising it. She survives the Second Wizarding War, and will rerelease a revised edition under an alias Greda Curd.
Despite being in the Order of the Phoenix, Greta isn’t as active in the war as other members in the Order. She was more of a supporting player in the events, offering her home as a safe place for the other members.
After the war, Greta discovers that she can’t have kids. Learning this, Greta was upset for a long time, along with her cooking dreams, having a family of her own was one of her biggest dreams. After a few years trying to change this medical outcome, Greta decided to foster and eventually adopt newly parentless kids from the war.
Gladys sat up straighter and grinned at the mere thought of food. Of pasta. “Is that even a question? I will never say no to your lasagna and if I do, I’ve been possessed.”
Greta couldn’t help but laugh at her answer, “It was a bit of a silly question, wasn’t it?” She kept walking to the kitchen to start heating it up. “Honestly, I’m in the same boat as you. If I ever say no, I’d need you to go right to the ministry,” Greta laughed, “I promise i’ll do the same for you! Did you want a big slice?” She questioned.
" how’s that book coming along? “ she asks, voice innocent, but her venom green eyes are as observant as ever. it’s something they used to talk about, back in the day — and rita will still bring it up whenever she sees her. always intuitive, always hopeful, always ready to get the latest scoop. “ you know, i never forget a promise. ” and she’s supposed to get the first interview. fingers toy with the cross around her neck, and she gives greta a suggestive smile. so easy to fall back into old habits. she has to stop herself from reaching out to touch her hand, but she knows that it wouldn’t be right. not even rita has the heart to do that, to the both of them. not after that break up.
Greta wasn’t about to admit that she was caught off guard by Rita’s question, but she was. She didn’t know why- it wasn’t as if Greta had never heard the question before, it was a common topic when they were dating back in their Hogwarts days, back when it was still in it’s development stage. “It’s... Going.” Greta answered, truthfully, she had a timeline for her book, and she was very far behind. She sighed, “I’ve only finished two chapters. I hope you’re still writing by the time I finish, you’re not looking for another job anytime soon, are you?”

“Am I really gonna die?“ Greta asked, staring at Liam with a furrowed brow and wide eyes, worry flushing through her body quickly. “How can you tell?” She said, attempting to not make her worry come out in her voice.

“I’m going to go heat up some lasagna, do you want me to heat you up some?” Greta asked, before getting up off the lounge where the two of them had been sitting.
