‘Letters Home’

This project is about emotional response to new environment. As a young person who moved out of home to live and study in foreign country, I felt the need to befriend this new place and share my newly evoked feelings and recent experiences with loved ones at home. Thus, taking images of Coventry became of way to do that. Since these ‘mini memories’ are so personal and precious i turned images combined with drawings into one-off handmade postcards which was sent via post back to Lithuania. Hence, the aim of this project was to keep in touch, reduce the physical and emotional distance and to cope with homesickness.

‘The Album’

This was a collaborative project together with my Lithuanian friends that I have met since moving into the UK in 2016. The idea was to share our culture and make an ‘open window’ to our Lithuanian student community and culture for ‘the others’ to see since we all felt that not many people know hardly anything about Lithuania. But the aim was not to create an idyllic and romantic image of our culture but much more just to be open and share different aspects of our contemporary youth culture. I believe that it emerges most in social community events and not only through one individual so I invited a groups of friends to take part in this photography project
