Starklings as classic art pieces
do you ever think about how robb possibly won’t be remembered ? his death shook the spiritual realm and brought down nemesis to the land but that’s next to nothing next to the second long night. maybe some kids in the riverlands will have heard of some old folklore tale of lady stoneheart avenging her wolf king but arya, jon, dany and tyrion will be true and attested legends... like bran the builders and azor ahai. robb will be some piece of forgotten riverlands folklore like the mudd kings and the squishers

so sorry to harp on this again but ill never get over the fact that game of thrones ended with: Beloved Female Character going crazy and dying an undignified death, and Beloved Male Character, who’s left with no titles or glory, running away with his mountain man boyfriend. its the complete opposite of fan service and thats kinda iconic. and then it completely fuckin disappeared from the public consciousness which is even more iconic !!!

i dont care much for theonrobb (throbb, if u will) but saint bernard by lincoln as a theon song abt robb. starting with “hung pictures of patron saints up on my wall to remind me that I am a fool/tell me where I came from what I will always be/just a spoiled little kid who went to Catholic school” and ending with “saint bernard sits at the top of the driveway/you always said how you loved dogs/I don't know if I count but I'm trying my best/when I'm howling and barking these songs”,,,,,insane

no literally !! what makes it even more tragic and horrific is that while theon was reeling from the death of his two brothers and being cutoff from his parents, his sister, and his childhood HOME with the expectation that it’ll be decades before seeing them again, he was also dealing with completely losing touch of his culture. his people are baptized in the ocean, he was probably learning to swim at the same time he was learning to walk, his culture is so connected to the sea they say they have salt in their blood…the ocean must have played a HUGE part in his life and was probably such a normal fixture in his life that it would seem alien to even think of living far from it, just as it would seem alien to live away from the sun. and then one day, northmen come and they destroy his home and kill his brothers and they take him away and just like that, theres no more ocean. no more swimming, no more boat rides, no more days playing in the sand and skipping stones, no more fish for dinner (i have this lil hc that the iron islands have a mostly seafood diet so the first time theon is given mutton stew in winterfell he sits there quietly panicking like what the FUCK is that). complete cultural erasure. instead, hes stuck in a frozen wasteland with a castle full of strangers and the looming threat of execution at ten years old, with not even the comfort of an ocean nearby, which so far had been the one constant in his life.
