I think paintbrush gets nightmares about the whole event often and the entire reason they joined the safety squad thing is to stop it from ever happening to their friends again; it’s essentially their coping method

Whenever this happens LB has to just be there and let them feel and look at her and be aware that she still has her limbs and she still has a face and she’s Ok Guys Everything’s Fine No I Don’t Constantly Think About What Happened And Cry

I think an intersex headcanon for painty Could be interesting considering the fact that their entire schtick was that they "looked androgynous" and no one could tell their gender, so taking that to the next level of literally making them intersex (hence "I really can't tell your gender") could be an interesting thing to do with their gijinka, but I don't Want to equate nonbinary to being intersex (which I know is an issue in that community) and I also want to make sure I'm writing them respectfully so. Thoughts on intersex paintbrush?
