Disney ‘Renaissance Era’ concept art as posters
Game of Thrones employs a strong sense of symbolism in this scene. Arya is riding off on a white horse to slay the dragon like she’s a knight in shining armor, becoming the heroic warrior she always hoped she could be. Along with that fairy tale imagery of Arya riding off to save the day on a white steed, the horse is also reminiscent of the white horse Daenerys received as a wedding present from Khal Drogo. In this case, it’s a reminder of the woman Daenerys used to be before she was repeatedly betrayed and lost everyone she loved, before she descended into madness. This adds an additional layer of sadness to the whole affair, reminding viewers of what might have been while at the same time implying what is most likely to happen. (x)
Speaking as a long-term member of the Moordale Social Pariah Club, you’ll survive.
please make sure that wherever you’re at in life, you don’t treat it like a transitory period. don’t waste your college years wishing to already be graduated & have a job. don’t waste your single years wishing for someone to be in love with. if/when those things come, they will come in due time and they will be good. but there is nothing like looking back and feeling empty because you wasted literal years ignoring what you had because you were hoping for something better. while it’s important to better yourself and reach for your goals, don’t neglect the present because that’s where you are now and it’s your now that determines your future.
love is real and worth it and SO important to me it’s pretty much my entire political spiritual philosophical deal………you can be critical of how romantic love is commodified and dominated by heteronormative myths for sure but ppl out there like “love is fake” aren’t doing ANYTHING interesting or subversive……love is revolutionary bc the systems that oppress us are directly opposed to all kinds of love, interpersonal love and self love etc. they’re trying to drive it out of us. love as an action love as a choice love as something u cultivate and tend to is the best thing in the world and it’s at the absolute centre of my life

i love jane eyre but honestly imagine being friends with that bitch. like imagine trying to convince her to leave rochester and she’s like idk and you’re like he called u ugly???? he keeps his secret wife locked in the attic???? wake up???? and then you think she finally has it sorted out and she calls you a few months later like “his wife killed herself and burned down the house so it’s cool we’re getting married” like !!!!!!!!!!!! HOW DO YOU GO TO THAT WEDDING!!!!!!
#that’s just a normal friendship with a straight girl honestly [x]
i'm cRYING,,,
Me, looking back at how many books i used to read: I love that bitch, she was going places.
breaking bad, fight club, rick and morty, clockwork orange, and the catcher in the rye are all arguably good things - but if a man says they are his FAVORITE book/movie/tv show? RUN.
Can someone explain this to me?
They’re all works that are examinations of compelling but deeply flawed (usually narcissistic and violent) men. People rightly like all these works because they are good, but the implication of the original post is that if a guy says they are his favorite work, he is probably misunderstanding the point of the work and instead idolizing the male protagonist and is unable to recognize their flaws.
do you ever think about how cool it would be to be crazy rich bc you could scroll through Tumblr and just slam dunk all these go fund mes to 100% without a second thought? you get a car, and you get a power wheelchair, and you get rent, and you get surgery for your dog, and and and and
too bad its only poor people who care about others and have empathy
If that was true the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation wouldn’t exist lol
bill gates has enough money to change the entire world. his foundation conveniently invests in technology based innovation and education - three guesses as to who is gonna profit from that in the long term. the gates don’t do any campaigning for living wages or direct anti-poverty action. they literally invest in communities and groups that will yield them the greatest return - their foundation runs for profit - they also are known to invest in companies that contribute massively to environmental damage and in companies that exploit workers in the third world so miss me w that. every billionaire w a foundation named humbly after themselves is a waste of space.
no offence but let yourself be ugly!! you don’t have to fix your hair if you’re not going anywhere you don’t have to cover up ur spots or change out of your lounge pants to go buy milk like damn we really gotta let ourselves be comfortable without constantly apologising for just looking normal and it’s hard but i think we need to practice looking in the mirror and saying i look ugly af today and that’s okay!! tru self care is letting urself be ugly tbh
I love this version of self-love because it’s much more feasible for people who are self-conscious. Like it takes years of powerful reconditioning to convince yourself that your flaws, like stretch marks or acne or cellulitis, are attractive. It’s basically impossible for most people.
But learning to say “so what, I’m ugly, there’s more to life” not only overwrites this narrative that we have to feel attractive in some way (which is bs) but also reroutes your actual attention to just, living, instead of examining, evaluating, and judging your appearance
people acting like diversity is inherently a political statement or sjw bullshit are so fucking stupid like… thats just how the world is. its almost like the real world is diverse and that its unnatural for media to not reflect this… like these people literally get mad about female protagonists, gay protagonists or protagonists of color bc its “political correctness gone too far” like idk how to explain to you that poc, lgbt people and women existing isnt political correctness its just life dude
when i watch other people my age, i see that they have this kind of effortless way about them that i don’t think i’ll ever have. the way they talk to each other and the way they go out and pursue what interests them without having to think twice about it. the way they know how to conduct themselves, the way it all comes so naturally to them, like breathing or swimming or riding a bike. it’s like they all have something ingrained in them that i just don’t have, and it’s so embarrassing and it’s fucking killing me. i wish i knew how to be okay.
Stupidest thing ever is this infantilization of patriarchy like, “it’s boys who do those things; a ~~real man~~~ would never be that way” no listen to me, it is not little boys who crack jokes that make up patriarchy but actual grown-ass men engaging in actual physical, systematic, structural, emotional, verbal violence against women. Patriarchy is not puberty you grow out of but a backdrop wired into the fabric of our society.
female awesome meme; 6/10 ladies in movies: elle woods (legally blonde) “on our very first day at harvard, a very wise orofessor quoted aristotle: “the law is reason free from passion.” well, no offense to aristotle, but in my three years at harvard i have come to find that passion is a key ingredient to the study and practice of law – and of life. it is with passion, courage of conviction, and strong sense of self that we take our next steps into the world, remembering that first impressions are not always correct. you must always have faith in people. and most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself.”
Here’s the thing about people with good hearts. They give you excuses when you don’t explain yourself. They accept apologies you don’t give. They see the best in you when you don’t need them to. At your worst, they lift you up, even if it means putting their priorities aside. The word “busy” does not exist in their dictionary. They make time, even when you don’t. And you wonder why they’re the most sensitive people. You wonder why they’re the most caring people. You wonder why they are willing to give so much of themselves with no expectation in return. You wonder why their existence is not so essential to your well-being. It’s because they don’t make you work hard for the attention they give you. They accept the love they think they’ve earned, and you accept the love you think you’re entitled to. Let me tell you something. Fear the day when a good heart gives up on you. Our skies don’t become gray out of nowhere. Our sunshine does not allow the darkness to take over for no reason. A heart does not turn cold unless it’s been treated with coldness for a while.
