Tragedy In Local Shop; Cursed object at fault

written by Lu Talkalot A great tragedy was discovered in Knockturn Alley on this morning of August 21st, 1982. The bodies of Emmeline Vance, Oliver Bones, his wife Pacifica Bones (nee Singh), and a mister Amon Burke were found in local shop Borgin and Burke's, a business which deals in the buying and selling of various magical items as well as cursed goods. The victims' bodies were discovered late in the morning after the shop failed to open for its usual hours of operation. Seeing this was unusual, a neighbor made use of a spare key that had been entrusted to them to check in on the shop. Once the bodies were discovered there, the appropriate authorities were alerted immediately and a team including a curse breaker was sent to investigate the scene. Based on evidence discovered in the shop, it has been reported that these deaths were caused by the unfortunate activation of a cursed object which was on display inside of the shop. The object itself was evidenced to be a candle which once lit, had released an undetectable poison into the air. This first caused the victims to lose consciousness, and then eventually poisoned them to death. With efforts to clear the lingering poison from Borgin and Burke's failing so far, the shop has been condemned until further notice. We here at the The Daily Prophet offer our most sincere condolences to the family members of the deceased. The dates of the victim's funerals will appear in our next issue.

written by Lu Talkalot Hello readers both old and new, and welcome to this month's issue of The Daily Prophet's monthly Companion newsletter! Lu Talkalot here as always to keep you up to date on any general goings-on planned for this coming month. We have two locals birthdays taking place in this month of September, including Antonin Dolohov who will be turning 30 on September 11th, and followed by our own resident Gilderoy Lockhart is turning 26 on the 29th. I would remind you all to be sure to send them both gifts and happy birthday wishes on these dates, but I personally don't believe Gilderoy needs any more attention. Focus all of your efforts on Antonin this month!

Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy's wedding was a lovely affair with an excellent turnout. Though not all of us were invited to witness their nuptuals, those of us who attended the reception had a wonderful time. We all wish the bride and groom a long and happy marriage. May they prosper together. They certainly make an attractive couple, if nothing else. This month's full moon will be taking place on; September 3rd. Stay safe and watch out for werewolves.

There are a whopping total of five local birthdays coming up in this month of August, beginning with our local rockstar Kitty Müller who is turning 21 on August 3rd. Then we have Jae-Edmund Avery turning 26 on August 6th, followed by Peter Pettigrew who is turning 22 on August 12th. Last but certainly not least, the Carrow twins Alecto and Amycus will be turning 24 on August 31st, finishing up the month for us. Take note of the dates and be sure to shower them all accordingly with all of the gifts and affection a birthday person is due! We're all due for the wedding of the century when Lucius Malfoy and Narcissa Black are united on the 20th! There will be a closed ceremony which will take place in the orangery at the Malfoy family manor, followed by a slightly more open reception which will take place in the manor's ballroom and back garden. Keep an eye on The Prophet for further details as we get closer to the date, it's sure to be a beautiful union! This month's full moon will be taking place on; August 5th. Hello readers, both old and new! Lu Talkalot here, returning with yet another issue of The Daily Prophet's monthly Companion newsletter! Keeping you up to date with events and general goings-on in this coming month: We have two local birthdays coming up in this month of July; Alicia Selwyn who is turning 28 on July 14th, and Micah Mulciber who will be turning 26 four days later on the 18th. Be sure to shower them both in gifts and birthday wishes, as is any birthday person's right! I personally expect no less from my friends and loved ones during my birth week, and I expect Mulciber could use some tender love and care after their recent release from Azkaban prison. This year's Firefly Festival has come and gone with minimal incident, though certainly moreso than last year with several unexplained fires breaking out in a couple of the merchandise stands and a handful of guests noted as having been injured. The general atmosphere of the festival was light and fun as it should have been and we were all able to gather for the ceremony atop the hill, release our lanterns, and celebrate in welcoming the lighting bugs and summer together, so i'm calling it a win! Coincidentally, several (now former) Azkaban inmates were released from prison on the same evening as the Firefly Festival, just hours before the ceremony. Jae-Edmund Avery, Vincent Crabbe Sr, and Rodolphus Lestrange are a few notable names included amongst them. We here at The Daily Prophet would like to remind our readers to treat these individuals with kindness and understanding as they integrate themselves back into the community. The Firefly Festival; A night of celebration

It's finally time for us to celebrate the start of summer by welcoming all of the beautiful plants and creatures that come with it! After last year's first Firefly Festival was a booming success we expect this year to be no different, and with all the unpleasantness of the past put behind us i'm sure we can all use an excuse to celebrate! The Firefly Festival will be taking place this Friday, June 21st in Lighting Meadow, located just south of the town of Hogsmeade. There will be an assortment of local businesses with stands selling goods and refreshments set up around the meadow, and various activities available throughout the grounds for the whole family to enjoy which will include: glow in the dark body painting, stations where you can decorate your own magically floating paper lanterns ahead of the nighttime ceremony on the hill, a bug catching scavenger hunt which will take you all around the meadow, and more!

Once the sun has set, there will be adult-only areas made available where older festival goers will be allowed to drink and partake in more mature activities as they please. Like last year, guests are encouraged to wear the brightest, most colorful clothing they possibly can. I know I personally never miss an opportunity to dress up, myself! The glowing memorabilia and various light up items available at all merchandise stands will come in handy for anyone who might not have any shiny clothing on hand. For anyone who wants to get really creative, there will be a best dressed contest and the winner will receive ten galleons plus a piece of merchandise of their choosing from any of the glowing memorabilia stands.

At midnight everyone will gather together at the top of Lighting Hill to celebrate the blooming of the firefly petunias, and the wakening of the lighting bugs that comes with it! Once all the lighting bugs are out we'll release our lanterns into the air with them to help light up the night around us. I do hope to see you there readers, if you happen to see me feel welcome to come and say hello! And as always, be sure to take a peek at the next edition of The Prophet for any further news or updates.

Though ic the event is a one night thing, ooc the event will be open June 21st- July 5th. You may post open and closed starters for the event during this time, as well as outfits your characters may be wearing, any glowing body paint they may have gotten, or lanterns they may have decorated. Threads can take place wandering the stands, partaking in activities, or if your character is working at a booth that is more than welcome. We encourage you all to get creative and have fun! To participate in the best dressed contest, simply post your character's outfit with the tag grimmhq;firefest so we can see and appreciate them all. The winner will be chosen via rng and announced later. Firefly petunias: Bioluminescent flowers whose first bloom wakes the lighting bugs and calls them out for the summer. Lighting bugs: A species of magical firefly that flicker between various colors along with lighting up.

Rabastan and Ozwald seem pretty close and comfortable with each other, are we thinking there might be a potential couple on the horizon??

Do they? I hadn't noticed - bigger fish and all that. Rabastan never struck me as the type for flowers, but it would make floral arrangements for the wedding rather easy.
