i see everyone talking about how lavender is symbolic for gellert and how it’s shown to represent him and his identity as a gay man throughout the films but why isn’t anyone talking about albus and how the 18th-century word ‘dumbledore’ literally means bumblebee and the well known fact that bumblebees love lavender

also fun fact bumblebees are attracted to lavender more than any other kind of insect or bee

i’m going so deep but note how gellert is always trying to ‘attract’ and draw albus over to his side in the film and on both occasions they meet (the date and the duel) he’s wearing the lavender tie

like did they really just give us a story about a bumblebee boy falling in love with a lavender boy and them being eternally bound forever yes they fucking did

Albus Dumbledore was handsome, sweet, kind, a great professor, good with children, talented and a powerful wizard. And sexy.

In those 30 years he could have easily found a new partner, a nice man, gentle, funny, someone who could have given Albus stability and security, someone able to make him laugh, after all the traumas he had been through.

Someone to share a life with. Maybe without passion and intensity, but still a good life, not in solitude.

But no. Albus did not want to find someone else, nor even think about seeing other people.

His heart was taken, for good. And if life wasn't going to let him have the only person he truly wanted, and if this meant to be never truly happy and whole, so be it. Because LOVE IS BIGGER THAN HAPPINESS ( as Agatha Cristie once said).

This moment right here was when they realised they can fight each other.

The troth is almost gone.

This is the very first time, since they made it, when they actually have the opportunity to hurt physically the other.

Do they really want to do that?

I don't think so.

Albus is slowly getting closer to Gellert with this agonising look on his face.

And Gellert's the same.

Like a mirror, as always.

Then, yes, they eventually start to fight.

Gellert is the one to cast the first spell.

He's also the one most hurt, right now.

He lost the election, his plan was destroyed, the blood troth broke.

They both feel a lot of anger, bitterness and resentment for everything that happened now, for all those years being apart, for how it all ended that summer.

That initial rage is for all of that.

But in the end, as they come closer, fighting, they finally touch each other, for the first time after all those years, they can feel each other warmth, they feel their heartbeats synchronised again.

And they stop.

The mirror world slowly crumbles as they both realise, at this time, they can't attempt to kill each other. They aren't ready to live in a world without the sound of those heartbeats.

Love is still stronger.

For now.

I pity Albus so much. Imagine waking up and thinking "you know what? I'm going to go out today. Its a great day, and I'm going to move on!" Only to see about 10000 of these plastered everywhere as soon as he leaves.
