A/N: An idea I wanted to write, but didn’t really know how to expand. It is what it it ended up being. Not beta’d - all mistakes are mine.

You’ve been watching the water swirl itself down the drain for over half an hour now.

Your chin rests on your knees, arms wrapped around your legs, the hot liquid steadily hitting your frame and running down your bare skin. The blood and dirt had washed away a long time ago, but you still sit there on the stained ceramic of the motel shower floor, watching the patterns of the water.

“Y/N?” He knocks on the door, three soft raps. “Still alive in there?”

You open your mouth to speak, but nothing comes out. You pull your legs tighter into your curled up frame and close your eyes.

“Y/N?” He’s worried now at your lack of response, his next knocks a bit more firm, more persistent. “You okay?”

You swallow, try to find your voice. “I just…I need a few more minutes.”

“What?”

It’d come out as a whisper. You search for your voice again, but it’s gone.

“That’s it, I’m coming in.”
