The atom bomb and nuclear power and the later space-race; fired the imaginations of both youngsters and adults. These were optimistic times with 'faith' in American science and industry. Prognosticating was more about what looked cool rather than what was actually feasible. "Closer Than We Think" was a weekly feature in newspapers. Arthur Raedbaugh was the artist and visionary. His rendering style was rather painful; but it got the ideas across!
