Royal - Soft pastels on pastelmat.
Roe deer in Rembrandt soft pastels
Portrait in pastels
Blackwing 602 & Blackwing matte on Canson Dessin.
Quick drawing of a character of the story I'm writing. He looks like a demon, because he absolutely isn't. He's also really small, hence the big eyes.
Study with new coloured pencils and grey paper - Derwent Lightfast on Strathmore Toned Gray.
I read great things about Derwent Lightfast and as my birthday was coming up, I knew what I wanted. And, Voila! This is my first work using them. They are very different than the Faber-Castell Polychromos I normally use. Lightfast are soft and layer/blend in a completely different way. Due to their softness, they need to be sharpened often and doing fine details is hard as the point breaks easily. It will take some time getting used to them, but I do like them a lot. I think they will work great together with the Polychromos. One brand for details, the other for blocking in and highlights. Time to experiment more!
Experiment with only the supposed "best pencil ever made", the Blackwing 602 and an eraser. From reference on A3.
Experimental portrait - Faber Castell Polychromos on Strathmore toned tan.
Tried to use as few different colours as I could (after some advice I saw on YT). Ended up using six, all from the Faber Castell 12-set. It still needs a few touch ups before it is fully done, though.
Before and after using lin seed oil.
Peregrine falcon - Faber Castell Polychromos on paper.
Not quite done yet, but getting there.
Peregrine falcon - Faber Castell on paper - WIP
Red deer - Pastels on paper.
Since september, I've been following drawing lessons. My main focus is trying out new techniques and, in the future new subjects. This is the first project I finished.
Quick sketch of a young deer.
Quick merman portrait - Caran d'Ache and Bruynzeel watercolour pencils on paper.
Tried a different kind of paper this time, and I prefer it over the material I used with the last one. Need to learn how to use it properly, though.
Three stages of a watercolour pencil drawing - Caran d'Ache and Bruynzeel on paper.
I rarely use these pencils as I don't have many colours and I tend to mess it up when it gets to the water and brushes part. Happy with this one though.
Quick colour-test portrait
A local shop got rid of its Faber Castell Polychromos collection and I bought all the colours I didn't own yet. Quite happy with how well they work together.
Sater portrait in Faber Castell
Was awfully sloppy with finishing this, but I am still quite happy with the result. My plans for it just changed and changed and changed...
Portrait in coloured pencil WIP
This was supposed to be a portrait in cool tones, but then I used the wrong colour for the highlights =D.
