A red deer (Cervus elaphus) in Highland Wildlife Park, Kincraig, Scotland
by Roger Wasley
[ID: Photos of a painted clay sculpture of a red deer inspired by the Palaeolithic cave paintings of Lascaux. It is in a leaping pose, balanced on it's belly. It has an ochre yellow body and a white stomach, with a black head, neck, antlers, and legs. Each photo shows a different angle. End ID.]
More deer practice.

Another picture of the boy!
For years I've been thinking about deer cavalry and yet never finishing any picture of humanoids with deer.
Some might say it's a downgrade from the azhdarchid but he had to return it to its owner at some point.
He's inspecting what happened to the animal on the ground but he's looking up because he saw something. Oh and the statue in the background (I imagine a famous explorer of his time) has a built-in mechanism that displays a holographic map of the galaxy if activated. I like to put in suspiciously well-preserved structures in forests, okay.
I also wanted to try out some opalescent/iridescent effects on the pupils and skin surface.
Moodboards for different kinds of deer! I don't see a lot of diverse content for them, and since I love making these, I decided to provide ⋆˚꩜。𖤓
They're based on the esthetics I associate with the specific species the most ♡
