A Pole Man’s Christmas

Dark eyes turn up from the magazine cradled in her left hand. Amusement flickers through them, but Ash doesn’t let it reach her face. Not yet. She always liked to make’em squirm, first. “That quick, huh? No ‘hey beautiful’? C’mon, baby. Tell me I’m easy on the eyes–somethin’!”

She dips down to reach into her front pocket, and with a glint of metal a flask is tipped in his direction. “Don’t you know a lady never pays for ‘er own drinks?” Ashley grinned wide, dropping a wink to go along.

💥 – “Well, if you want me to treat you like a lady, lady, you better show me a lady. ‘Cause all I’m seeing here is a mouth.”

     His dark optics widening in response to her absolutely rude behavior, Ash went for his cup on the bar, tipping it into his lips before realizing it had been empty the whole time. With a sigh, he slammed into onto the coaster, motioning to the bar tender with two fingers. He had caved.

💥 – “Y’got lucky, baby. I like ‘em classy and sassy.”

     That was a lie. She was good-looking enough he probably would have caved either way... At least if she was promiscuous, it’d be a a little easier.

So how do you rank the movies? In order

oh gee, anon. we’re coming right out of the gate with this? well, let’s jump right in.

1) dead by dawn.|easily the most strong of the series, and my favourite. a lot of really great and solid character development for ash, as well as pretty much every concept from story, to direction to sound has been elevated into a pretty near-perfect installment in a series. the addition of dark humor is what really made it shine. it’s probably the strongest number two in movie history, to be honest. which leads me into number 2.

2) evil dead.|first in the franchise, and for its’ time, a really solid film. if not for some really cheesy practical effects, you could easily say that this film stands the test of time. ash’s plight as a scared and wimpy kid pushed over the edge was astonishingly human and rare for horror films, even now.

3) evil dead (2013).|this takes the third spot over army of darkness for reasons i won’t get into until that blurb, so hang on. just bare with me a sec. at its core, this movie was really okay. the scares were amazing, the details were amazing, the polishing on the book and its lore, all amazing. mia is an incredible character that i had come to love very much by the end... but, it was for the most part really okay. not quite as memorable as its predecessors, but a solid film.

4) army of darkness.|this comes in at the last spot, mostly because its’ kind of taken on a bit of a life of its own. it is a completely different animal from the rest of the franchise, but still somehow logically fits. it’s the funniest sequel, probably of all time, and one of the most fun watches i have ever encountered. it kept me laughing and guessing and did wonders in developing ash as a character and a believable human being in its’ own strange way. it’s not that it’s my least favourite in the slightest... i love this film so, so much. it’s just that my tastes lie a lot more with the other three.
