黄[Ki] : Yellow

花[-bana|Hana] : Flower

秋桜[Kosumosu] : Cosmos(Cosmos bipinnatus)

It was introduced in the Taishō period(1912-1926.) It is native to Central America, the same as that of Kosumosu, but is not Kosumosu that produces yellow or orange flowers, their species are different.

秋桜

秋 means autumn and is read as aki, 桜 means cherry blossom and is read as sakura, therefore, 秋桜 is read as akizakura, but more often as kosumosu. Another name is 大波斯菊[Ooharushagiku].
