Spruce tips going into the dehydrator!
Using them this week to try to fight off a nasty cold! Between that and my echinacea elderberry syrup im on day 2 and starting to feel better already!
According to Google:
Spruce tips are the bright-green, tender new growth of spruce trees that emerge in the spring. They are highly prized for being incredibly rich in Vitamin C, acting as a natural immune booster, and providing a fresh, citrusy-pine flavor.
Key Benefits Immune Support: Packed with Vitamin C and antioxidants, making them an excellent natural remedy for fighting off colds, flus, and historically, scurvy.
Respiratory Health: They act as a natural expectorant. Consuming them or breathing in their steam helps loosen chest, throat, and sinus congestion.
Antimicrobial & Antiseptic: Traditionally used in salves or teas to treat minor cuts, soothe sore throats, and ease inflammation.
Rich in Minerals: They contain key minerals like potassium, magnesium, and chlorophyll, which assist in tissue healing and cellular oxygenation.
My last weeks harvest of Dandilions, Raspberry Leafs and Crab apple Flowers for Tea. And Lots of Chives!
- I use Dandelion tea as support for the Lymphatic system and liver.
- I use Raspberry Leafs as Menstruation Support for my PCOS, it helps my cramping and helps get my period over faster!
-The crab apple blossoms are just something fun to throw in tea for colour but im sure they have benefits of some sort.
-Chives are used for cooking! I dry them in my dehydrator and keep them in a jar for the colder months.
Sourdough dough loaf #2 next time I need to mix the pickles into my stretch and folds instead if just on top and maybe some brine in the dough but it still turned out wayyyy better than the previous loaf. This one took about 24 hours where the previous took 18 . I think this hobby may have to teach me patience
First loaf from "Skump" (my 14 day old starter)
Let me introduce myself! Hi! I'm Rose, I am 28 and live in Canada! We just moved into this house 4 months ago , so this is our first spring blessed with nature ๐
I recently have made a 30 foot garden and have been focusing on cleaning up the outside of the property while foraging through the woods to see what we have available here. A few years ago we found some ghost pipe on the property so fingers crossed it comes back this year ๐ค My next post will be filled with my newest wild harvests.
Please follow to see me grow my homestead, learn about herbalism and maybe get some recipes along the way ๐
