Chattanooga Chuck passes away at age 10

On November 11th, Chattanooga Chuck, one of Tennessee's most prominent groundhog forecasters, passed away at the age of 10.

Chattanooga Chuck was born in Pennsylvania in 2009. Shortly thereafter Chuck went to live at the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, Tennessee. On Chuck's first Groundhog Day in 2010 he made his first weather prognostication and an annual tradition began. Chuck quickly rose to be one of the nation's most respected weather groundhogs.

The aquarium will search for a replacement for Chattanooga Chuck, but it is unlikely that one will be in place for Groundhog Day 2020. According to WRCB, Thom Benson, Director of External Affairs at the TN Aquarium, said "In 2020, I think we'll just pause. You know, I think it would not be proper to have some other animal as a substitute for Chattanooga Chuck because it was an authentic program."

Chattanooga Chuck's final weather prediction was for a long winter in 2019.

Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son is out now

The VR sequel to the 1993 classic Groundhog Day, Grondhog Day: Like Father Like Son is finally available to play.

In the game, you're Phil Connors, Jr., stuck in a time loop on Groundhog Day, repeating the same day over and over again, just Phil Connors, Sr. did 25 years earlier.

Released on September 17, the game can be played on PlayStation VR, Steam, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.

As of this writing, the game has a 61% rating on Metacritic (out of 11 reviews) and 86% on Steam (out of 15 reviews).

We here at Countdown to Groundhog Day have't had an opportunity to play the game yet, but plan to if we can find some money in the Countdown to Groundhog Day budget to purchase the game.

Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son gets release date

The virtual reality "sequel" to Groundhog Day, Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son, finally has a release date.

The VR game, which allows the player to assume the role of Phil Connors Jr., the son of Bill Murray's Phil Connors, will launch worldwide on September 17th, 2019. You'll be able to get GD: Like Father Like Son on Sony Playstation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive.

We've been waiting for a release date since the project was announced on Groundhog Day earlier in the year, so it's good to know we're less than a month away from being able to play the game. We here at Countdown to Groundhog Day didn't have a VR headset in February, but we do now, so we're super excited to check out the game.

You can buy the piano teacher’s house from Groundhog Day!

The piano teacher's house from Groundhog Day is up for sale for $249,000.

 The house, which is located in Woodstock, Illinois, was built in 1893, but has supposedly been updated "generously" over the years.

Groundhog Day sequel coming in the form of Virtual Reality game

Sony recently announced that a sort of sequel to the classic 1993 film Groundhog Day is coming with Groundhog Day: Like Father Like Son, a VR game to be released later this year.

The game will be centered around Phil Connors Jr., son of Bill Murray and presumably Andie MacDowell's characters from the film. Phil Jr. will be forced to repeat Groundhog Day, until he learns the true value of friends and family, just like his father.

You'll be able to get the game on PlayStation Virtual Reality and other major VR platforms. Guess I'm going to have to get a VR system!
