Severus smiled at her, “well I think you will look lovely in whatever you choice to wear, a dress would be nice to see though.” He winked at her, he was rather excited to be going until he had a thought, just what other Gryffindors were going to be there. Severus didn’t know just how many Gryffindors knew about well them, slowly he started to ask” Lily love, erm, well uhm, what other, you know, Gryffindors will be there? and well I don’t know who else well knows?” He knew he probably sounded like a poof but he didn’t care. He wanted to know.

Lily nodded in understanding, “Well I- I honestly don’t know but I’ll ask around, okay?” She wanted to reassure him that everything would be okay, and reassure herself. “=But it’s going to be fine, Sev. Really. No one’s going to get rowdy at one of Slughorn’s parties. I mean, you would hope so.” She saw the look of alarm on Severus’ face at her last comment and interjected once more, “No, it will be fine. That’s what the point of all of this is, right? To not care what everyone else thinks.” As Lily looked across the water, she noticed the sun was beginning to set, tapping Severus, she turned towards the sunset. “Sev, look.” She motioned for him to look as well.

Severus smiled and let out the breath he had been hold, Lily always made it sound so perfect, and that everything would be fine. He looked out across the lake, it was beautiful, but before he said anything he looked down at Lily, who was sitting close to him, he kissed her gently on the cheek and without taking his eyes of her breathed, “Yes the view is simply gorgeous, something I could look at all the time.”

Lily rolled her eyes, she had never expected Severus to be such a romantic. "You haven't seen anything yet." She wiggled her eyebrows goofily. "Come on, the sun is down. Let's pack up and I can get ready for the party." Her boyfriend helped her up and she started packing up the picnic supplies. Once it was all put away, she held out her hand. "Off we go, then."

Lily shrieked as they hit the cold water. When she regained her balance, she wiped the water out of her eyes and pushed her hair back before splashing her boyfriend. It felt good to not have to care. When the two of them were satisfyingly wet and freezing, Lily sloshed over to Severus and wrapped her arms around him. “Sev,” she started off softly, “How ‘bout you come to Slughorn’s dinner with me? You and I.”

Severus laughed loudly, nothing had made him smile like she could, but then she mentioned a dinner, “Slughorn’s dinner? really? you .. you want to take me? well I guess I could.” he pulled her in closer, hesitating for a mere second before kissing her deeply, he could not wait. “I would love… too go with you.” Severus pulled them out to the grass with a flick of a wand they were dry and wrapped in a blanket for some warmth.

Lily sighed contentedly at the newfound blanket. “Thanks.” She mumbled as she sank into the grass. The grass scratched her arms as she laid back to look up at the sky. “What do you think is going to happen, Sev?” When there was no response, she elaborated, “To us, to everybody. I mean, anything’s possible at this point. I’ve only just been thinking about it because of OWLS and such, you know. And I was starting to think that-” She paused for a second, realizing she was rambling, but she continued anyway. “Well, that it wouldn’t be so bad to be and auror. I- I love potions and all of that, you know that Sev. But I’ve been talking to some of the other professors, and they seem to think I’d be quite good at it.” She shook her head, “I’m sorry, I don’t even know why I’m even talking about this.” She sighed, “Sev, uh… what do you think you want to do?”

Severus sighed deeply, what did he want to do is tat what she was asking him, “well I think I’d like to teach.. or maybe be a healer, but I don’t know, we are to young to think about that Lily, I just want to think about what is here and now,” he cupped her cheek pulling her closer to kiss her gently on the lips, “yeah I just want to think about the now, I quite like the now. So what should I wear for this dinner?”

Lily sighed internally, but let Severus dodge the subject. "You'll look fine in whatever you wear, Sev. Don't worry." She smiled. "I'll help you out if you want me too, though." She followed up, shrugging. "I'm going to help Marly help me out with my outfit... I guess dresses aren't my forte." Honestly, Lily didn't really care what she wore, because she had an amazing date to bring to the party.

Frowning Severus looked at her, “Lily, I don’t need to announce it, I just want to not hide it, if that even makes sense.” getting frustrated he grumbled before looking at her with a hint of a smile. “I want to be able to do this,” with there hands still being held he pulled her forward and kisses her softly, “But I want to do it just anywhere, and I don’t want to have to let go of your hand when someone comes near, or hide behind bushes when we have picnics. Can’t we just let it be, and if they notice merlins beard who cares.” With saying all that Severus had a very bright hit of red touch his cheeks, he had never spoken so.. passionately  before, and he knew it was because of her.

Lily nodded, she had to admit that it made sense. “Sev, I-” She sighed. He really did have a point and she didn’t know what to tell him. She looked up at him, “Okay then. I think that’s a good plan and we’ll give it a try.” She smiled, “Thank you for being so patient with me.” She stretched up and kissed him on the cheek.

Severus knew his face beamed the second she agreed, so he stood up and held his hand out, “well my lady care to go for a walk then? I heard the squids been awfully playful lately,” He waited for her to take his hand, to see if she really would, is what he thought in the back of his mind. Severus couldn’t get over the fact that she had said yes, she said yes. He was allowed to hold her hand when ever he wanted, and even sneak a kiss if he dared.

Lily kept herself from checking who was watching and took his hand. It didn’t matter any more. They were free to do what they wanted. “Sounds perfect.” She said, leaving the library with her boyfriend. She smiled a bit when she saw some students do a double take as they left. Maybe this would turn out for the best. They walked out to the lake. It was a sunny day and classes were done, so it was fairly crowded, but she didn’t care. Severus walked her over to their normal spot by the lake and sat down. Lily let go of his hand and turned to give him a mischievous smile as she walked to dip her feet in the icy water. When she returned, she flicked her hands and him and sprayed him with water.

Severus smirked at anyone that was giving them any sort of look, he didn’t care, he knew what was the best and it was Lily. They made their way down to the lake and then down to their spot, Lily wandered off to the water, which he didn’t mind but he was not going near it. It was bloody cold. He took a seat and watcher her dip her feet, as he looked away to his left back at the castle, he felt his whole side get wet. “Lily how dare you, ” he looked back at her smirking, “you will pay for that my dear.” he got up faster then he ever had and grabbed her not caring if he got wet anymore he dropped them both into the water now they were sitting in freezing cold water up to their waists. “haha, oh dear now this made me cold too.” he laughed as he splashed her a little more,

Moving Forward || Lily and Severus

Lily and Severus’ two month anniversary was quickly approaching. Not that it made much of a difference, since no one except for Remus knew about their situation. People had started to wonder, but nothing had been vocalized, so Lily and Severus’ relationship had managed to pass undisturbed. Lily had never been happier in her life. She was content with quick smiles in the hallways and brief dates down at the lake. Severus, however… Well, she wasn’t so sure what he thought. Was he really okay with keeping such a big secret?

So when the time finally came Severus sat her down to talk about something serious, she knew what he was going to ask.

Severus had been enjoying every second he spent with Lily, but it hurt him that they still had to hide it, it had almost been two months, and he wanted to do something big for Lily, but he didn’t want to have to hide it either, he had sent her a small note asking if they could talk, and for her to meet him in the library. 

Severus waited nervously, he knew what he was going to say but when she sat down with him he was at a lose for words. “Lily.. I … we..” sighing he spat it out, “I like this but I don’t like this.” He first made a notion to the both of them, and then to the fact that they were hidden way off in a back corner where no one ever came. “I don’t think we need to hide it anymore, I want to walk out of here hold your hand,” He lightly picked her hand up kissing it softly. “I want the whole school to know that I am the luckiest bloke around.”

Lily smiled slightly at the last comment. "Look, Sev. I get it. I know it's got to be frustrating for you but... I just- can you think of the commotion it would cause? Do you really want that?" She saw the look on his face, and knew that her boyfriend was quite set on his opinion.

She hated herself for it, but she was scared of what other people might think. Not about her, well maybe about her a little bit, but about Severus. She was well aware of the number of enemies he had around school and was also aware of the kind of power they had. But maybe, just maybe, announcing their relationship could make things better for her and her boyfriend. And that was the tricky part, she didn't know whether things would get better or not.
