I love the Steve and Davey headcanons. I also feel like It was very hard for Steve's mom to accept the fact that Steve is an adult, because she fears that he's gonna move out and leave her at some point (Even though he'd never do that to her). i also feel like Dave and his ex wife are on somewhat good terms. They don't talk much. His kids are probably adutls, and they visit him whenever they can because they know he wasn't doing so well after the divorce.
Anyway, i got way too carried away with this lol. I'm just glad there's other people who like Steve and Davey as well!

Thanks so much, I’m glad someone likes hearing my ramblings about the FIB lads, they need more love imo. For the sake of elaboration, I’ll just spill out my own interpretation of things in case anyone is interested. And as a side, these ideas are pulled from conversations with my friend @simply-jason.
I personally have the headcanon that Steve’s dad wasn’t around in his life (military man in the reserves was called in and KIA), so his mom raised him alone. She came from a less forgiving upbringing (not necessarily a tough one, she was just a middle child and got the typical neglect for it) so she wanted to make sure Steve had as comfortable and happy as a life as possible. she was basically all he had and because of that, she kind of spoiled him. Granted it wasn’t in the sense that she excused his poor actions or never disciplined him, nah, she held him accountable when he was wrong. But it was still just enough for him to develop his cocky personality. And of course, as he got older he started to understand all the sacrifices she made for him and he loves his mom and wanted to take care of her as her age climbed and her health declined. Him staying with her solidified this mentality where she understands that he’s an adult and he needs his space, and she gives him that! But she also still clings to old motherly habits, like having lunch and dinner ready when he gets home, making his bed, making his favorite cookies, etc. She definitely did have a period where she found it hard to accept that he was growing up, and she still does have this fear that he’ll leave her at some point, but she’s largely come to this understanding that this is a part of life and that he’ll never be too far.
As far as Davey goes, I absolutely think that he and his ex-wife are on good terms. Their divorce didn’t seem like a sudden or unhappy ending. It was just that their hours didn’t line up, and they weren’t able to be together the way they used to anymore. Overall, it was just that the spark between them wasn’t there anymore and so they found it best to just separate. They don’t speak often but when they do, they’re very polite and cordial. No hostility. As far as kids go, I don’t think Davey ever actually had kids. There’s no mention of anything of the sort, no allusions or anything to having kids of his own, and aside from that, Davey really seems like the type where if he did have kids, I wholeheartedly believe he would have definitely stayed with his wife. He would’ve switched his hours around or taken a demotion just so that he could improve things, see them more, and keep his family together. I mean, just look at all the hoops he jumps through to keep Michael’s family together.
Of course, these are just my own opinions and interpretations of the characters. If you have different thoughts or headcanons about them though (like Davey having kids) please please please feel free to share them with me and elaborate on them, I love hearing other people’s thoughts and takes on the characters and the games overall! :D
