in a way i kind of do love the fact that there are so many crazy, apocryphal stories about old hollywood celebs. all the legends of them fucking and fighting reminds me of stories of the greek gods and how they’d steal each other’s spouses, carry out major revenge for petty grievances, and transform themselves into something they weren’t. i think humans inherently have the tendency to mythologize, and stars of the classic era were the last celebs to have that godlike sheen about them: very similar to us, yet at the same time, on a whole other level.
