Palmanova, located in northeastern Italy, is famous for its concentric fortress plan known as a star fort. The rings that surround the town were completed in 1593, 1690, and 1813.

In honor of Australia Day - the country’s national holiday celebrated annually on January 26th - we wanted to share this breathtaking Overview of Bondi Beach in Sydney. One of the city’s most popular destinations, the beach gets its name from the Aboriginal word “Bondi” that means waves breaking over rocks.

The Kufra Basin in the Sahara Desert of Libya is one of the most heavily irrigated oases in the world. The Libyan government enacted a plan in the 1970’s to enable agricultural cultivation in the desert by extracting water from the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System, a non-renewable source of fossil water located beneath the surface. Because only 2% of Libya’s land receives enough rainfall to be cultivated, the aquifer is now nearly dried up.

The entrance to the Louvre Museum in Paris, France is a glass and metal pyramid, designed by architect I.M. Pei. The structure reaches a height of 21.6 meters (about 71 feet) and has a square base of 35 meters (115 feet). Visitors enter through the pyramid, descend into the spacious lobby, and then re-ascend into the wings of the museum.

Lucca

Lucca is a city and commune in Tuscany, Italy. The city walls, constructed during the Renaissance-era, have remained intact as the city expanded and modernized. As the walls lost their military importance, they became a pedestrian promenade that encircles the old town, although they were used for a number of years in the 20th century as a track for racing cars.
