Well, his name’s Jess. He’s older– smarter, all around er. He’s a good guy. I haven’t seen him… in a long time, though.
I’d say something, yeah. If something was really wrong.
Well, he sounds like a great guy. I know. It sucks.
Okay.

Well, his name’s Jess. He’s older– smarter, all around er. He’s a good guy. I haven’t seen him… in a long time, though.
I’d say something, yeah. If something was really wrong.
Well, he sounds like a great guy. I know. It sucks.
Okay.
–You didn’t?Â
I don’t think I’ve been sick. Just tired still. With two minds full of thoughts in the new place, everything’s all a lot louder. Still getting used to it.Â
Well, yeah, I think you’ve mentioned him, but other than that, I don’t really know much about him.
Alright. You’d tell me if there was something going, right?
You caught me. It’s just still weird. Seeing someone here who’s not my brother, but you definitely act like him in a lot of ways.
We’ll get to that brother part in a minute, because I didn’t even know you had one. But, you’re acting weird and dodging my questions, what is it? Are you sick? Should I be worried?
Oh… uhm. Yeah. That was… it was fine.
I don’t have to be a telepath to figure out that you’re withholding something. Come on, don’t make me blow up your teddy bear just to get it out of you.
Fun is a word you could use to explain that party. Also loud, sweaty, drunk… there are a lot of words.Â
It may be a fun party... and loud, sweat and drunk, but did you have any fun?
Ah… still getting my feet wet. And still getting over a hellacious headache from everyone else’s hangovers last week.
Yeah.. I’m not sorry I missed that one. Did you have fun at least?
Anytime, man. But we’ve been talking about me and it’s all blech. So let’s talk about something else. –The new facilities? You like them?
Right, right. Ehm, well, sure. I guess I miss the old location sometimes, but then again, a fresh start might be a good thing. Are you liking it here?
Well… what can I say? There’s only one guy I trust around my brain now.
Thanks bud. Appreciate the compliment.
Be my guest. I need some entertainment and this will surely entertain me. I don’t need to twist our reality. Look I get it you’re trying to do what’s right but this, keeping us here, it isn’t right.Â
Then read a book or take a pottery class. This is not entertainment, Bianca. Those are my orders, can’t defy those, even if I wanted to.
Not a whole lot. Just the ambient stuff.
I haven’t really… been meeting with anyone in particular.
Alright. I’m trusting you here.
Oh?
I may have been a little lost for the past three hours.Â
Want me to show you the way back?
I don’t think you will but you’re welcome to try. Normal? There’s nothing normal here. They keep us caged like animals. Oh but I am sure.Â
We’re on an island where people tend to have creative abilities. So I will definitely give it a go. This isn’t drama camp, Bianca, don’t make twist the reality.Â
I’m not digging, promise. Just catching your thoughts and making sure I can hear you.Â
We could do that, yeah. Gotta keep tabs on me?
It’s hard to trust a telepath, sometimes. What did you hear?
Definitely. Besides, gotta make sure that my replacement trainer is doing a good job.
It’s fine– we’re all busy. Besides– I could hear you. I knew you were around; it was all good.Â
You know I hate it when you eavesdrop in my private thoughts, right?
We should have dinner tonight or something, I haven’t really talked with you in a long time.Â
That’s not the only thing I’m stealing but as you said, I’m not one to spill all my secrets after one little chat. Especially not when you will go and blab them to the other guards. I have not forgotten. Almost everyone lost someone to them but I did not… all I lost was my opportunity for freedom. You’e joking right? Look around, Ryder, we don’t need protection from them.Â
Don’t worry, I’ll find out. And yeah, it was a difficult time. But now, things should get back to normal, including the rules and following them. Don’t be too sure of that.
That takes the fun out of everything, you know.
I can. But that doesn’t mean I know the correct techniques to go along with my impressive aim.
Sorry. Can’t afford any more surprises.
Hm, very well. I can help you out, maybe. Honestly, working with guns isn’t my strongsuit.Â
–Nothing’s really new. Still finding my way around this place. Training, yadda yadda yadda. Enough about me, though.
Understandable. I’ve only been here for a week. It’s weird to suddenly be in a new environment when you’re used to the same places for a long time. Oh, right, training. I’m sorry I haven’t been able to help you with that though. With the move and all, I had to stay back and wrap stuff up, not I have to get to know this place. It’s been a little hectic. Soon enough, I’ll have plenty of time for my best bud.
