I’m not the same anymore, I shouldn’t pretend to be.
forever is a long time to be a l o n e;
Between Gen and Beckett, Daphne learned to control herself. They both taught her slightly different ways of controlling what she was, but she took both and made her own. Oddly enough she became close to Beckett, she knew he was a killer - rude and soulless. But she still saw that small something when he'd bring everyone over and order far to much pizza, or when Daphne would bit someone on one of those nights she didn't have a control, and he'd calm her down. Yet she never forgot what he'd done, she got mad at him for hurting others - they had long arguments about it. Gen was kind, and Daphne trusted her easily, but their relationship didn't develop like hers and Beckett's did.
Slowly, with her control she began to try and reform her friendships. She reached out to talk to Rachel more, who she hadn't been in much contact with since being turned. Although it's different, they build their relationship again.
Helen - the most important person in Daphne's life. After Helen helped her get blood in a way that she wasn't hurting someone she did her best to become a better sister. She made Helen stop giving her blood bags and focus on her school and on John - who finally admitted their relationship.
Time went by, but nothing in Daphne's life changed much. She had her feet on the ground now and could hold her own. Yet, she was struck down when she heard Beckett had died. She fell apart that night, in her room alone she let her tears stream down her face. In the morning though, she put on a strong face and held Rachel close to comfort her. She made tea and did everything she knew to comfort her. She never showed what his death did to her. She'd spent many nights thinking of ways she'd enjoy killing him, but those days were long past. Beckett and her had spent nights walking around the town, she'd become a little closer to the other vampires in town because of Beckett. He told her about his life, when she could get him to at least. About the girl he'd loved, about the relationship he'd had with his sister, but she didn't push the topic when he didn't want to talk about it anymore. So having that gone, no longer around... It hurt, but she'd never say it out loud.
Helen and John graduated shortly after that. Their grandmother came to see, and Daphne saved two more seats - but no one sat in them, physically at least. She clapped and cheered, and cried as her sister and her boyfriend crossed the stage. For once it seemed like they were able to be a normal happy family. Yet when Mara stood, tears still streaming down her face, it hit Daphne again. She did her best to stay strong and focus on her sister.
With time, Helen and John left for a while to go off to college or university. She didn't follow them, she knew the two needed to see things and be away from her. It was during that time she felt truly alone. Rachel was around still and they talked, but she'd put all her life into Helen and having her go was something she never really thought about. So Daphne travelled. She packed up a few things and headed off to see the world. She didn't know where to go, so she started in London. From London she went to Scotland, and Ireland. Then into France, which lead her to Italy. Finally she went to Greece, she felt it fitting with how much the Gods and everything Greek had come to Beacon Hills. She'd been away from home for a long time, and she spent some of her nights wonder what she really had to go back for.
Daphne spent her time travelling a lot, it took her mind off of things she didn't have anymore. She travelled within the States, and even went up to Canada for a bit. Alone in may ways, she filled her days with strangers and stories they had. She hardly spoke about her life, mostly because it would make no sense to most, and to others - well she'd be dead.
A few years past and Helen called Daphne telling her all the news. Her and John were getting married. Thrilled for her younger sister she demanded to help in any way she could. Yet when they hung up the phone Daphne leaned into the couch and wondered what it was like. To love someone that much, and to be loved. She'd always hoped for that, always wanted to be in that type of relationship - have that life. She didn't let that get to her though, she spent the next months helping prepare everything.
When the day finally came she hugged Ashlyn and Thomas who'd come to see it. She saw some of Helen's old classmates, but many faces she didn't know. And Daphne had three chairs saved in the front row - but they were never filled. She helped her sister get ready and she got to watch her sister marry the man who was made for her.
Daphne watched over her sister and John, she made her duty to protect them. She watched as they began a family, the little wolf that was born. She watched as their family grew, and they made sure Daphne was involved in their life. She protected the kids while they were dealing with things. She babysat while they went away for events, she loved it. Spending time with the kids, yet she knew they weren't always so trusting of her. Of course it was in their nature to be hesitant. Over time they grew to care and trust her more. She fought off other wolves who dare threaten their family, and she tore apart other vampires who even dare to look at Helen as a meal.
With the years that past, she saw Helen and John age - but their love never faded. And as her sister got grey hair, she'd sit beside her bed and talk to her. Listen to what Helen had to say, she smiled at her - although it became sadder as time went on. She knew Helen was growing old, and would die one day. Helen would reach out and hold Daphne's hand. Smiling so happily at her, "you haven't aged a day." She'd say, and laugh lightly.
On that dreadful day, she hurried to the hospital, she heard John's cries before she saw him. She held the kids as they cried, holding strong as best she could. And when they all went to try and calm down - or talk to someone, Daphne cried out in pain. And she cried when she got home, and through the night and for days after. She only stopped when she had to comfort John, or the kids. She stood in black as her sister was put in the ground, she cried for her. For the loss of her, she wanted to be the one to hold out her arms on the other side. But she was here, and Helen was gone.
Daphne had made one promise to Helen the last time they'd spoke, she said she'd protect their family until the end. So she did. At that age, the kids were able to handle things on their own, but they still came to Daphne for comfort after John's death. Daphne watched over the kids, and checked up on them, she knew their parents had taught them well - but she still worried for them.
Time dragged on, Daphne's life wasn't what it was. Forever...Was a very long time. She watched her friends die, she watched her sister's kids have lives, and their children have lives. Yet she had a hole, many of them actually, in her life. She didn't have her mother, father, grandmother or her sister anymore. She no longer had Rachel, Jason or Beckett. She never found her prince, or the one she'd live on forever with. She never even found anything close. She was alone, and the only thing that kept her going - was that she made a promise to her sister, and she wasn't going to break it willingly.
Yes - I am. But I’m not like him, Daphne. I have a soul.
I can help you control it…and come to terms with it. [she sighs, giving the girl a small smile and wiping a stray tear from her cheek.] I understand how you feel. Like you’re a monster. But believe me, Daphne - you’re not. And I’m going to help you learn that.
I'm not going to have to hurt anyone, again I mean. I - I won't kill anyone will I? I don't think I can handle that.
Peter, listen to me. Secrets have a cost. They’re not free. Not now, not ever.
…but you — you have to go outside at some point to — to…[she didn’t finish her sentence, she just couldn’t. Helen wanted to say that Daphne needed to feed at some point — of course she didn’t know much about vampires, but she knew that they needed blood. Anyway, she got pulled out of her thoughts as Daphne apologized.] It’s okay, really…nothing bad happened and I know that you didn’t mean to….so don’t worry, okay? [taking in a deep breath, just like she did on the porch, Helen walked over to the armchair to sit down — she was much closer to Daphne now but she knew, hoped, that her sister wouldn’t attack her again] This whole Pandora Box mess would’ve happened sooner or later anyway, so don’t feel bad about it, okay?…the box actually helped me. I mean, it’s hard to explain but I feel complete now…I am happy. Yes, my life…our lifes, are anything but normal, but that doesn’t mean that I’m not happy. I’ve got you, John, Jason, Adrian and Ash…this complicated and dangerous life gave us a family, Phi, so as much as I would love to hate it, I can’t….. I’m fine and don’t feel the need to get bitten again, if you mean that. Everything’s going to be okay, Phi.
[Daphne nodded slowly, she knew what Helen was thinking - but the idea scared her. She didn't want to hurt anyone, it took all of her to pull away from Helen when she bit her. How could she pull away from that, mostly if she knew she was hungry...She shook her head pushing those thoughts away, she couldn't think like that.] I just wish I could have, done something for you, to make it easier. And to better prevent this from happening. [She thought over Helen's words, a small smile crept up knowing that her sister was happy. That maybe even if at the start she screwed up moving away, maybe this made up for it.] I hope so Helen, and I hope you know I'm going to try and learn from whoever will teach me. How to, how to control it. I'm going to try, I don't want to not be in your life.

MOODBOARD 3/?: RACHEL THORNE AND DAPHNE LEVENTIS
"I just want things to go back to the way they were. I wat ot be friends again. I’ll do anything, Daph. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. Just let me help."
"You don’t get it. I tried to protect you from all of this. I tried to keep you human. I’m a monster now, Rachel. how can we be friends?"
"We can still be friends. I know we can."
"I’ll kill you!”
[He quickly stepped forward so that he could grab onto Daphne’s arm to stable her.] I don’t want you to get hurt. I want to train you, I want to help you. [Going to wipe some of the blood from her face, Beckett paused to look at her for a moment to make sure she wouldn’t attack him.] I can’t help it, Daph. I’m a soulless killer, it’s in my nature. [Smiling at Daphne, he lightly pushed back some of her blood matted hair, he pushed a fresh tear from her eyes.] I give you my word, Daph. I am here to help you. You need help, without me, you might accidentally kill someone. And as much as I’d love to see you do that, I know that you don’t want to kill someone.
[Daphne thought about pulling away from him, of pushing away and running yet she didn't want to. She did hate him, but at this point she didn't really have many other choices. She didn't know who else was a vampire.] And how are you going to do that? - Train me? [Daphne looked up at him, she wondered for a moment what she looked like to him. A mess likely, something fun to toy with, something to ruin. She pushed that idea away, looking down again and muttering out,] It doesn't have to be...[She pulled back a bit, startled by his touch, but she didn't push him away. ] Didn't you give Rachel your word that you wouldn't hurt me, and then...you turned me into this?
Having fun there, love? [Beckett smirked and lent against the cold alleyway wall. He always knew that Daphne would do this.] Are you sure you still don’t want my help?
[Daphne spun on her feet to look at Beckett, almost losing her footing. She backed into the wall, wiping at her face to get rid of the blood and her tears.] Y-you... No! Why would I want-... [Daphne paused, she didn't want any of this, she wanted help. She wanted her sister back in her life, she wanted to walk down the street without thinking of blood.] ...Beckett, you enjoy this far to much...This isn't fun, if it wasn't for my sister, I'd... [She stopped her words, she couldn't think like that, even if she wanted to. She wiped at her face more her frustration rising.] I want help, but I don't trust you. You turned me into this, who's to say you won't turn me into a bigger monster?
[AU] "How about we stop studying math and study each others bodies instead."
"I-…" Daphne didn’t know what to say, she’d offered to help Isaac with math because he wasn’t doing well, this was not what she’d expected to happen. "Isaac - no. My sister- and your… No we can’t."
