I really enjoyed this one. There are many romance stories throughout the drama which were non-toxic and supportive. The actors did a great job protraying their roles and were very moving throughout. It didn’t have any stupid love triangle that came between the main CP nor did any of them use the rival to push their partner away. Instead the conflict between them was the case of their idenities and their struggles to protect the ones they love. The female lead struggled with the death of her family, was strong, and grew in her journey of revenge. The male lead followed and fought what he believed in. Even the 2nd CP’s triangle wasn’t bad, they were very supportive of one another which is nice to see in a historical drama (as the shadow of death looms everywhere).
Normally, I would want to look away from petty and unnecessary conflicts between the couples, but this one, the romance was a support in hard times. The action was good and in someways a bit lacking as the director (?) decided to add animation to it in some scenes which I’m not sure was a creative choice or lack of budget. The OST was great as always and I just love the plot and it’s characters.
From the comments, I’ve read the characters are based on historical figures. So that was some interesting information as well. I’m not sure if it’s because of this factor that made this drama stand out, but it would be something I would come back and watch again. I really recommend it.
