The Otter Specialist Group has even issued a Best Practice Guidelines for Responsible Images of Otters. While it's meant for professionals it can give you an idea of why it is bad to interact with otters in such a way, both for otters and people who get the wrong idea of what is good for the animal they like.
This, of course, applies to all wildlife which should be left alone in the wild and admired from afar.
