This morning the weather was nice and sunny, ideal for a morning hike on the Ancient Lakes trail near Quincy Washington. The trail is perfect for family hiking because the land is mostly flat and wide open. It’s usually busy between the months of March trough September but this morning the parking lot was full of cars and trucks with horse trailers. That’s right people not only hike Ancient Lakes trail but they also ride their horses and bikes as well. We’ll probably bring our bike on our next trip. What’s makes our habanero hot sauce so delicious? Here are some possible reasons.. We skip using any dry pepper, pastes, concentrate, artificial flavors and preservatives, instead we use only fresh locally grown peppers, organic carrots, real garlic and Washington onions. Also, we ferment with sea salt allowing us to not use vinegar creating a smooth delicious aromas. It’s great on pizza, clam chowder or on a burger. Habaneros Our love for habaneros started while visiting the peninsula of Yucatán Mexico. There we habanero pickled red onions over panuchos, salbutes and other traditional Yucatán dishes. We found that habanero peepers have a tangy almost citrus like taste, it’s medium heat doesn’t hit your tongue right away, allowing your taste buds to enjoy its unique flavor. Becerra Gardens is own and run by the Becerra family, taking advantage of the Quincy’s unique climate and fertile land the Becerra family has grows a great variety of peppers and vegetables since 1992. During the harvest months you can visit Becerra Gardens to pick your own vegetables and peppers. When you visit Becerra Gardens you will usually be greeted by Amado or Rosa. The Becerra’s will let you know where things are planted and which crops are ready to be harvest. Also they will provide you with 5 gallon buckets where you can gather all your harvest. We have found that the best time visit Becerra’s u-pick is early in the morning before noon when the day gets too hot to comfortably pick or late in the evening when the sun has gone down. To get the most out of your trip, we will recommend to put on sunscreen, wear lightweight clothing, wear a hat, and pack cold bottled water.
