I finished watching Madoka Magica for the first time (+the movie) and now I just keep thinking of a deltarune au..

it wouldn’t be like 1:1 with the characters but like the world building and magical girl mechanics will be the same.

I’ve never made an au before but if people like this I’d probably make more stuff for it :))

character ramble below

Kris- my idea for Kris is that they are possessed by a magical girl who’s body was destroyed without the soul gem being harmed, and that soul was able to possess another body, which is Kris. Maybe they were a magical girl (gender neutral) before and was separated from their soul gem so they can’t survive without the other soul possessing them or if they were never a magical girl and maybe got fatally injured enough to be unable to sustain life unless the outside soul heals them. For the design I’ve decided to keep the skin tone of lightworld Kris and have the hair color change when they transform( the same with Susie). The skirt is supposed to be cage shaped and the soul gem is located on their lower chest. I think the soul’s power would be time travel like homura, but if Kris became a magical girl they would be more like sayaka miki . I also think they are weaker so they are forced to fight witches by getting hurt, because they are being controlled by the soul their well-being is not being considered really, but if they would feel the pain if their soul is still in their body…

Susie- I think Susie would be homeless in this au, and her wish was probably access to food or something similar. Her power would be based around axes and maybe have the ability to heal? She would be bad at it and not use it at the beginning until she is helped by ralsei. Her character is definitely the closest to Kyoko and so is her desighn. I did put her soul gem as a hair clip/ band because I wanted to give her a pretty ponytail but she wouldn’t wear ribbons that easily lol. She would definitely try to save witches when she finds out that they used to be magical girls. I think she would be the most hopeful and determined to change things. She would probably make the wish that madoka makes if she had the chance.

ralsei- a veteran magical girl. Living the dream as a woman but also the horrors persist. everyone is a woman in this idc (except Kris). Ralsei would have the same powers as mami tomoe because the ribbons definitely fit and funny haha Ralsei with a gun. her character would also be similar to mami tomoe, but I think she would turn into a witch instead of dying based on how I’ve decided darkners would be in this au. teaches Susie to use her powers probably. Her wish would likely be out of necessity or maybe to save another person? Im not sure yet (if you have ideas comment!) Ralsei would also know the most about the fate of magical girls and how they work, but keeps this information from the others at first not to worry them. Unlike mami she would discourage others from becoming magical girls, and wouldn’t resort to violence after learning things… I made Ralsei’s design more like homura just for the sake of looking more religious which I think fits her. Also biiiig ribbon for a scarf yay!

the witches would be past magical girls still but these girls would be based on the major bosses of deltarune, and maybe the familiars would be smaller ones. Sadly no pacifist route in this :( the knight would also be like the walpurgishnacht of this au?

that’s it for now let me know if you like this au or I will loose all motivation lmao 😭. I have more idea for other characters and it would be fun to make some of the witch forms but I’m tired rn…
