god not to go doomer mode but this era of the Internet where we all are on dying platforms at the hands of evil fucking corps/ceos that not only introduce changes that piss off the user base, but actively promote toxicity and harassment for the marginalized users who can't really protect themselves while exiling them and censoring them bad. it's also bad that the Internet is getting childproofed with id laws and shit because people love controlling children and minorities. this era where artists, communities, and friends get fucked over by these rules and regulations is an era I can't absolutely wait to exit soon. fuck the Internet now.

it rules how tumblr, a site that continues to barely survive entirely on the backs of its users who like that it’s different from other social media, is trying every day to make itself a worse, less popular version of every other social media site.

not to be that person, but making angry posts about the update isn't gonna do anything. if you're actually annoyed, i'd recommend contacting the staff to complain. if everyone does their part, i'm sure these trash updates will be rolled back. let's go!!!

tumblr also has accounts on twitter (here) and instagram (this is their latest post). it'd be worth commenting there too! let's flood their last post with complaints, i guarantee we'll get some kind of response.

for everyone asking, tumblr is making it impossible for you to add onto ANY post without making it its own separate post. If you put any addition on someone's post its now your post. The OP won't even be privy to any notes it gets unless they check that specific post. This makes it impossible to track anything which is really detrimental to artists who need to know their reach or just see what people are saying about their work. It also just means you can't reblog with any additions without taking notes away from your original post. This is part of what made twitter hostile and its the last gasping breath of a site run by people who don't understand it.
