general info about John Doe and Jane Doe (in my roblox AU)... and a teeny tiny bit about their workplace.
John and Jane are identical twins, and both work at ROBLOX HQ testing code, and gear/hats. they aren't technically admins, so they don't have access to the admin panel--however they do have access to BTools (with Builderman's permission). the twins do not have Ban Hammer privileges.
John is more reserved whilst Jane is more outgoing, but they're both well-liked by their co-workers. going out to a pub/grill/bar as a group is quite common after long work weeks (it goes on the company card. or Roblox's card, if one of them could be bothered to yoink it). they all kinda cycle through which place they're going to eat at for dinner.
Jane is trans and also has a beautiful wife 🩷
if John did grow his hair out, it would be pink like his sister's, but he prefers to shave it off ("Less of a hassle" apparently). Guest 14211212 helps shave his head sometimes, but he is able to do it on his own.

i think in the early stages of their relationship, John doe would be a workaholic (unhealthy working habits) and would regularly fall asleep at work. because of this, Jane (or one of the admins) have to call Guest 14211212 to pick him up.
he says that he won't overwork himself. yet, every time without fail, he ends up in his bed back home after passing out at his desk.
avid procrastinator vs perpetual workaholic. they kinda maybe slightly balance these flaws in each other... not completely, they uh- they're both still working on it.
or they WOULD BE if everything in 2017 didn't happen. John doe mourns the loss of his partner and falls back into his old habits HARD.

block tales rant (AND SPOILERS FOR THE REWRITE!! AND PARTIAL DEMO 5 SPOILERS) under the cut. keep in mind that i have not played demo 4 rewrite, and i have not played demo 5.
no main tags, because i fear i will be mauled for being ungrateful or smthn. this is a generally negative take on the update, and for that, i apologise. i really wanted to enjoy it, but i just can't

in MY OPINION... i personally do not like the rewrite.
i feel like the characters got completely rewritten, it feels juvenile and it keeps holding your hand. again, and again, they repeat the same stupid "do you know how the ghostwalker works?" "the mysterious figure has the illumina!!" "you must save builderman!" over and over and over andoh my god.
genuinely, take a shot everytime an NPC asks you if you know how the ghost walker works in demo 3. i think i counted, like, four separate NPCs?? (butler, terry, builderman, ghost chef/kitchen wizard) there might be more, im not entirely sure. or if you do not feel like drinking, take a shot everytime builderman says something other than "VISION!!" whilst he's following you. (seriously, is this a bug? why does he ONLY say that?)
cruel king is so rude and demeaning for no reason(and weirdly entitled??). griefer just became an angsty, 13 year old that doesn't think things through. hatred became a 1-note, 2-dimensional revenge power obsessed loser. greed happened i think. that entire sequence does NOT make sense if you chose the 2nd option (choosing to forgo the machine in favour of collecting the swords and saving builderman). no matter what, you are still called selfish for wanting to go back??? make it make sense.
the nerf of rocket launcher, rocket boots and dynamite whilst the enemies continue to get stronger is borderline unfair. the choice to make support cards (ressurect, cure, etc) give a perma -1 dmg PER CARD, makes deck building more restrictive and you are utterly ###### if you play solo (having to either rely HEAVILY on items, in favour of DPS, or having to rely on others in favour of support--you can no longer do both).
also, there is text that isn't fitted on the text bubble properly, which feels unpolished. there is also no tutorial for fast-skipping text, funnily enough (i realised that after having to tell one of my friends how to skip through dialogue quickly).
you are no longer able to figure things out yourself, as terry, or some other NPC tells you exactly what you need to do. whether it be detailed instructions on where to go (discouraging exploration), or an over explanation of something you already KNOW (swords, items, etc.)
and even worse??? one of the cutscenes (end of demo 3 cutscene i think) SPOILS stuff for demo 5. mysterious figure and leer (new character) start speaking about kleos...? why on earth are they speaking about demo 5 BEFORE demo 4 has even started?
so when you speak to mayor thaniel once you've cured griefer (i must admit, i have not gotten up to this point yet, but if it is the same as the pre-rewrite dialogue...) he mentions cruel king, and kleos. The player character does not know about kleos' downfall, but the player (us) do. this disconnect makes it hard for us (the player and the player character) to have the same goals. we KNOW kleos is out of action, and when shedletsky says (in the start of demo 5) that kleos has died from mysterious illness™, WE aren't surprised--even though the player character is.
why ARE we seeing these cutscenes after each demo??? literally what is the point?? i feel like seeing the mysterious figure/noobador cutscene would have made more sense to be happening whilst noobador was explaining to us why he isn't working for the mysterious figure anymore, but instead, it's just, like, why??? we the PLAYER know that noobador and the nooblings (red and blue) are no longer working for the mysterious figure, but the player DOESNT. which is why its frustrating to me that on the train the noob trio act weary of the player, but likeok i give up. im too tired. been at this for over 13 hours now.
i haven't played through the demo 4 rewrite, and i havent touched demo 5 (outside of talking to shedletsky about going to the demo 5 area), because im honestly scared. like, i do NOT like the characterisation of the pre-existing characters. but im also prayjng that maybe demo 5 won't be that bad. there is no successor to compare it to, so who knows? it might even be the best demo yet. please tell me that im the one with 0 reading comprehension, so i can feel a bit better. i may cry a little if the game actually devolved in writing quality.
once again, this is just my opinion (a harsh one, sure. but my word is not law and i certainly dont dictate how you guys feel about media you enjoy). if you liked the rewrite, awesome! i'm genuinely happy if others find the rewrite enjoyable/more enjoyable than the pre-rewrite. if you don't, that's fine too. everyone is entitled to like what they like.
