If anyone is at all curious...

The holidays went well for us. Particularly so for Kaspian; he received a very extensive letter from Her Majesty, accompanied by multiple sets of crystals native to Novosibirsk’s mines. One set was for him to keep, while the rest he was welcome to do with as he wished.

...I’m...fairly certain a good half went to Quona and Abigail. Those three have formed a strong friendship, indeed.

I myself also received a few letters from my colleagues back in Novosibirsk, as well as from my pupil. They’re all doing well, to my relief.

Then, of course, there was the storytelling I mentioned a while ago. We did indeed do that, and it was quite fun to do again. Vanora and Casey told us stories from their island, Egaxo and Sophia told some various tales they’d heard during their travels together, Sunanda put on a little performance...it was nice, getting a break from all the chaos for a little while. I’m glad we all got that chance.

...ha, even despite all the recent events, Vanora and Kaspian are still getting excited for the holidays...

Hmm...perhaps we should do what my unit does every year. It’d certainly help lift some of the homesickness...

Is…is everyone else all right? I’m still at the hospital with Ryker. He…has several defensive wounds, but he’ll be ok. They used same kind of sleeping aide they had with Jhon. It will take a day or two for it to be fully removed from his system. Darrell is watching over him, so he’s in good hands.

How is everyone else? What happened to the ones responsible for all of this? I was to return to the labyrinth with Cosmos, but I’ve been informed that others have already begun to return.

Did…something happen?

....i’m fine. at most it was...just a few cuts to my shadows. nothing more.

those responsible for this have fled...they had a thread of their own. however, considering these recent events...i’ve doubts that they’ll return anytime soon, at least not without careful planning.

A hooded figure stepped forward to retrieve the key. But as the medic holds out the key in his upturn palm, they snared him harshly by the wrist and snatched the key. The medic is then thrown to the ground, next to where the survivalist lay. "The Yggdrasil key is ours now. No explorer will reach the den of the Great Dragon now. Not until it is too late."

Lynus’ heart leapt into his throat as he hit the ground. He could feel the instant rage and concern of everyone who had hidden themselves in the shadows. So…he had to move quickly. He didn’t like the idea of leaving the soon-to-be battlefield, but he had to get out of the way. He had to help Ryker.

Without hesitation, Lynus lunged toward Ryker to grab onto his shoulder while he activated the Ariadne Thread. He heard a few mumblings of surprise from the hooded figures, but as the white light of the thread invading his vision, he knew he had gotten away.

The Yggdrasil Key may be in their possession, but they didn’t seem to realise that the key would not activate for them. 

And he would be able to retrieve it when he felt fit.

Now…it was time for everyone else to act. He did not know what those figures were capable off, and he did indeed fear for the safety of his guild, of other guilds. But…as soon as he got Ryker to the safety of Darrell and the hospital, he would return to the tenth floor, escorted by Guild Cosmos.

Whether those figures choose to fight or flee with their own Ariadne Thread; one thing was clear - no one was willing to let them continue their reign of terror.

There’s a sharp inhale, then exhale.

And then seconds later, the shadows reach out in an attempt cling to the hooded figures, to hold them down so others can do as they wish.

As, while Lolial was often a pacifist, something like this could not go ignored.

“...oh, you foolish, foolish children.”

While hair and chains and bits of cloak remain, the rest of the body which rises from the shadows looks no bit human.

“Twas it so that you believed there would not be more than just the young medic? Foolish, foolish children indeed.”

And foolish children would pay the price, if they and all those who helped to aid Lynus had anything to say about it.

That would be most useful to us. The plan has changed slightly. Lynus has to be the one to deliver the key. He tells me that he has a way for the key to return to him after he exchanges it for Ryker. I am uncertain by what he means, but I trust his judgement.

Our two main concerns are, of course, Lynus and Ryker.

...i wish this would not be a possibility, but...tis possible that this deal is not to go as promised. there must be some reason why the medic in particular must deliver it, after all.

If anyone could, please inform us if you hear anything about a group known as Lammergeier. I cannot divulge any info on them publicly, due to orders from Her Majesty, Queen Yuliena Herself, but I can say that they are a dangerous group that the Order has been fighting back at for a while now, and any info at all about them would be heavily appreciated.

A group called Lammergeier? That’s not a name that we are familiar with. However…from recent events, could they be the ones attempting some kind of diversion, do you suppose?

Nevertheless, we’ll be sure to keep an ear out for anyone or anything associated with such a group. During times like this, it pays to be extra cautious.

I understand that you’re under orders not to get into too deep of details, but could you possibly give information on how many there are and what they are capable of?

Apologies for the wait, I had to consult with some of my higher-ups on what would be acceptable to reveal.

Lammergeier is a group that, as far as we’re aware, likely has as much force behind it as the Order has. The exact number of members has never been put to something exact, but there’s definitely a lot of them. They’re spread all over the world, but...admittedly, the reason why Tokuhei, Sunanda, and I are here is because we got word that there was high activity from the group witnessed here, which is why I thought they might be involved.

Something like this...it’s definitely something they’d pull. Especially if it was someone - or multiple someones - who they thought could be a detriment to their plans. And even if it isn’t them, they’d definitely be willing to aid whoever’s pulling this off, likely for their own benefit as well.

They’re capable of a lot. All of their members are of different classes and levels of strength, and are willing to do anything to achieve their goals. Including kidnapping or, gods forbid, murder. Hell, there was a situation of experimentation on humans and their auras that Tokuhei and I helped to shut down a while ago.

Oh, I’m terribly sorry. We had an…incident where one of our guildmate went forcibly missing. As I’m sure you can imagine, there was a bit of panic in trying to find him.

Thankfully, he’s safe now. Though, my guildmates are still searching for the ones responsible. And it appears that they are now taunting us. If you happen to encounter anything suspicious, could you perhaps let me know? Please, anything would be helpful.

But do be careful. Though it appears that we, the Guardian Guild, are their main targets, that’s not to say they’re not a threat to anyone else. They managed to subdue a protector; not an easy feat, even with the use of sleeping gas.

Worse still, we don’t know who they are or why they are doing this…

We’ll take that into account, certainly. None of us can afford to let our guard down with this threat looming over.

Considering the status of royalty one of our members holds....we’ll be keeping an especially close eye on Prince Kaspian. Better safe than sorry, definitely.

If need be, I’d be willing to contact some of my close comrades back at the Spasitel Order for extra back-up. If it ever comes to a point where we’d need it, of course.
