if you have insecurities, listen
go to a mirror, and just stand there. it will be better if it is a full body mirror, but any will work.
now, you might see something you don’t like, parts of yourself you don’t want, or that you want to look different
don’t focus on that, block out those bad thoughts about yourself, block out that anxiety, because it’s wrong
you’re beautiful. absolutely STUNNING!
have body parts you don’t want or want to replace? you can have surgeries to fix that! they won’t be there forever!
are you “too skinny?” so? there’s nothing wrong with you!
are you fat or chubby? okay?? that doesn’t make you ugly or undesirable! it gives more to love, more to care for, more to appreciate!
have things like moles or bad acne? alright! those things can be managed! and besides, pretty much EVERYONE has those things, it doesn’t make you gross!
society paints these things to be synonyms of ugly or gross, but that’s just not true. we aren’t born to be insecure about things we can’t change about ourselves, or things we can change, but have a hard time doing so.
i want you to look in the mirror, and pick out the things you like about yourself. me personally, i love my eyes and hair, and i try to focus on that. then, i move on to the parts of myself i don’t like, like my acne, hands, just most of my body, and especially my smile. so, i go slowly, and pick out the things i like about my insecurities.
i like how small my hands are and how they’re kind of just, fragile and gentle. i like the way my stomach just kind of sticks out sometimes when i wear certain clothes, and i like the way my body fits in looser clothing. i like the way my smile looks if i do it in a certain way. i know it’s not the best way to cope, by wearing loose clothing, but it’s comfortable and makes me happy.
you don’t always have to focus on the things you dislike or even hate about yourself.
if you don’t like something about yourself, let me know and i’ll tell you something great about your insecurity.
i know i’m not the best-looking person, and i’ve been battling my own demons when it comes to that kind of thing, but you know what? i shouldn’t care what other people think about me. i’ve spent too much time being naive and blind to some bad people, and i’m done with it! we need more love in our lives! we need more love for ourselves! why?
because we goddamn deserve it.
