Agepril Day Three: Carnival/Sunhats
Characters: Little Brother Regressor!Wuyang and Big Sister Caregiver!Anran
Content Warnings: None! This is pure fluff. There's a bit of "ugh annoying sibling", but Anran really cares for Wuyang.

As soon as Wuyang heard about a Spring Carnival, he had begged Anran to come with him.
"Come onnnn, you've been busy training and studying for soooo long. I wanna go on the cool rides and stuff," he pouted, tugging on his sister's arm. "There's gonna be so many fun games, everyone else is going," he pleaded, making his big wet eyes at his sister.
Anran, who was trying her best to focus on her studies, sighed when she saw him out of the corner of her eye. She would never hear the end of it if they didn't go... plus, well, maybe he was kinda right. Not that she'd tell him that.
Slowly she turned in her chair, making direct eye contact with him. "Okay.." she said, and before Wuyang could burst out with joy she added: "BUT only if you agree to the following:" she began, watching him straighten up and try to look as well-behaved as possible.
"We will go for three hours, you will stay with me the whole time and hold my hand when there are lots of people, and you try your best to listen to what I tell you. Do we have a deal?" She asked, holding out her hand for him to shake.
He took it, smug grin on his face. "Deal!" He squealed happily. Anran smiled a little.
"Alright you little monster, go get dressed and be ready in ten minutes, play your 'get ready' playlist if you need," she said as she got up, thinking about what she'd pack herself.
Distantly, she heard his music playing out loud and smiled a little as she put together her caregiver backpack. She made sure to pack plenty of sunscreen and a little sunhat for Wuyang. She might have some trouble convincing him at first, but they'd made a deal and her brother was going to have to stick to it.
Before she knew it, the both of them were standing in the main field, looking at all the booths and games and rides. Wuyang's hand was in hers, squeezing a little tightly. His eyes were darting around the crowd. With a reassuring squeeze, Anran looked over at him, making sure to make eye contact.
"Hey, stick with me and we'll have lots of fun, yeah?" She said, and he nodded once, trying to appear confident.
"Now before we go for it and start having too much fun, let's put on some sunscreen," she said. Wuyang scrunched his face at that, but let his sister put sunscreen on him. He did the same for her and she gave him a big smile and ruffled his hair. "Nice job, okay now your sunhat," she said as she got it out from her bag.
"Do I have to wear that?" He asked, a little timidly which surprised her.
"Not during the rides, but you need it to help protect you today, the sun is quite strong."
He nodded, taking it in. Anran saw his face change however when he saw the jellyfish embroidered on the front of it. He let out a little gasp. "A jelly hat?" He grinned, showing it to her, she nodded.
"Well, even though it's a tool to help us, I think it should still look good," she smiled and felt her heart swell when Wuyang put it on his head. He was grinning from ear to ear.
Before she could say anything else though, he sharply tugged on her arm as he pulled her through to a game he saw. She half wanted him to slow down, but let it go. He was still holding her hand, he's being a good kid.
Anran could barely count the amount of games they played, a lot were rigged of course and it wasn't easy. However on one of the balloon dart games she was able to secure a win. A small, yet adorable plushie of a duck was placed in her hands. She immediately felt a pair of eyes next to her, pleading. She didn't even give him the chance to ask before the duck was in his hands, little plastic eyes shining up at him.
"Give him a good name, yeah? Let's get you and our new friend some food," she said.
After their bellies were stuffed with cheap and greasy food, Wuyang pointed to one of the big rides to go on next.
"Nuh uh, bud, we're gonna digest before we go on something like that."
Wuyang, for lack of a better word, looked crestfallen. Anran felt a tug in her heart and admitted to herself she was getting soft.
"We will go in half an hour, then after we'll go home. But for now, I saw a toy stall. I'll let you pick something small out, how does that sound?"
Any sadness was now replaced with a smile, he grabbed his sister's hand and squeezed it. "Thank you, Anran," he mumbled, and she squeezed his hand back.
"Wow, being very polite today. You're welcome, bud. Now let's go find something fun."
They spent most of that half an hour at the toy stall, Wuyang adored playing with all the wind-up toys. He was showing his new friend Bubbles the duck how they moved but eventually his eyes fell on something more simple. Catching the sunlight with its rainbow propellors, was a little card and paper windmill. It made the sunlight all the colours of the rainbow. His eyes danced in the colours. He watched it for a good few minutes, before realising just how mesmerised he was.
He tugged gently on his sister's sleeve and pointed to it, she was a little surprised but smiled at his choice, buying it for him. He held it tightly in his hand as he walked away from the stall, his brain feeling a little fuzzy from watching all the pretty colours.
Anran seemed to notice the change in mood, and while they were headed to the big ride she paused and took in her brother who was starting to worry his lip and suck on it. "Hey little listener," she said softly, bringing him away from other people. "Are we feeling a bit small?" She asked.
Wuyang hesitated, looking at his surroundings with wide eyes before nodding. He shuffled a little further away from other people. Before he could put his fingers in his mouth though, Anran was there with his paci. He sucked on it a little, his hands squeezing Bubbles tight.
"You did so good today, buddy, let's get you home, hm?" She said. While she couldn't quite pick him up, she linked with his arms to keep him nice and steady.
Wuyang followed along as they left the carnival off to the side, so no one would see them. He vaguely remembered something he wanted to do, but couldn't think of it. He didn't think it'd be that important anyway, he had Bubbles and his rainbow maker. And his sister had her strong arm in his. Nothing could be better.
I hope you enjoy! Very fluffy, these two are so sweet. I had the song from The Snowman and The Snowdog stuck in my head as I was writing this, which feels a little ironic. The song was "Building the Snowman" if you're curious.
