Hiatus Announcement
I’m sorry. My activity has been poor anyway. I’ll try to be back after the holidays.

—- After hearing some sort of commotion (perhaps an overstatement, but everything is ‘commotion’ to Rin) from a nearby classroom, Rin takes it upon herself to investigate the source of the noise. Standing just outside the doorway, she takes a small peek in, and hums quietly to herself.
Ah, yes. That girl with the bowtie and ridiculous puppets. She distinctly remembered her awkward shuffling from their last encounter.
While it was a bit disheartening to see that she hadn’t taken any of Rin’s advice to heart (if you could even call it ‘advice’), the Engineer decided not to enter the room just yet. Instead, she stood back and watched… for a good minute or two, at least. Until she got bored.
“ While it is exceedingly childish, I must admit… it is rather fascinating, in a way, how you manage to achieve those voices with minimal mouth movement. ”
Rin comments, now fully stepping into the room and glancing at the Ventriloquist. She takes a seat as far as possible from her, keeping an eye locked onto the other girl.
“ Although, I couldn’t possibly fathom the appeal of children’s entertainment. ”
It was childish to pretend. She knew better, she did, then to give in to the old habit but she found herself falling into step as she always did when she needed new ideas and insight. Hadn’t she heard one of her classmates tell her that it was something that programmers do? With a duck or something like that?
The duck didn’t usually talk back, though.
Chibi-kichi was the wisest of them all and exactly who she needed today. For herself, for her career, for everything... she needed to hear something from someone she believed in and coulds truly confide in. Anything.
She’s whispering quietly at first, the back and forth between them growing louder as her anxiety melted away; the empty classroom and shut door making her feel safe. Stupid, stupid, stupid. She had been so stupid.
Her blood ran cold when she heard that familiar voice. She doesn’t want to turn back and look, how could she ever forget someone so scary both in appearance and—wait was she complimenting her? Before she can even comprehend it, the bit of praise was taken away and replaced with a timeless complaint. It makes her flinch.
It wasn’t just for children, she wants to say, but she cannot.
Masumi swallows down the anxiety that was bubbling in her throat as she focused on her doll, red in the face underneath the scrutiny of the woman’s gaze she knew was set on her. It made her want to run, to hide, to be anywhere else but here, and yet...
“Would it surprise you then, to tell you that the art of ventriloquism’s origins are much darker than just mere entertainment for children?”

❝It’s okay…you’ve got nothing to fear.❞
“Mitarai-san...”
She hadn’t even heard him approach, but she should’ve known better than not to expect him to come by. Masumi squeezed her wrist even tighter in her lap as she turned to avoid his gaze and look towards the ground like before, silence filling between them as she wrestled with her tongue fat and useless in her mouth.
If it had been anyone else and she wouldn’t even have even bothered to try.
“I’m not scared—I’m just... worried.” she says, finding her voice at last. “I don’t know what to expect anymore.”
She doesn’t??? Understand??? All this kissing??? And why would you kiss STRANGERS doyouevenknowwheretheirmouthshavebeen??????
“I don’t think bones are supposed to stick out like that.”
injury/illness sentence starters. || ACCEPTING
This couldn’t be happening.
Masumi’s been investing a lot of downtime into a new cute little app full of cute animals and things to do on a campsite. It’s so peaceful and charming, and she can play it wherever she wants...
UUHHHHHHH GUESS WHO’S FRIEND FINALLY FINISHED THE COMMISSION FOR MASUMI’S PUPPET???? MY FRIEND!!! She’s been so busy with irl stuff she had to delay it by months, but finally finished it! They’re so gorgeous I could cry. I’m going to add them to my about page, but also show them here under the readmore. They’re so beautiful I could cry.... also be warned Midori (or I may actually change her name at this point, it was always meant to be a placeholder) is as scary as I always fucking envisioned.

“It’s alright, the cut isn’t that deep.” “I think I heard a snap, are you okay?” “Can you still wiggle your toes?” “Wow are you okay?! You fell really hard.” “What happened to your face?!” “That looks like a nasty burn, did you have it looked at?” “Hello? Can you hear me? You hit your head really badly and you were out for a moment…” “Don’t worry, the ambulance is on it’s way, you fell down the stairs and hit your head. You’ll be alright.” “I don’t think bones are supposed to stick out like that.” “I can’t see. I can’t see!” “No, I’m certain that’s infected.” “You should be more careful! This is the third time you’ve sprained something this week.” “That’s a lot of blood for a small cut…” “Oh my god! Are you okay?!” “I know it hurts, but it’s going to be okay. You’re not alone.” “You’re in the hospital. You had an accident.” “I’ve been having weird cramps all day.” “I think I’m going to faint.” “My sight is going all fuzzy… what does that mean?” “Shit! I just hurt my back. Can you help me?” “I think I’m going to be sick.” “I’m never wearing these heels again. Thank god it’s just a sprain, but… I’ll break them next, I swear.” “I can’t keep anything in right now. Everything I eat comes back out.” “I came as soon as you called. How are you feeling?” “How long have you been throwing up?” “Why do you keep rubbing your eyes? Is something wrong?” “I just sneezed and hit myself in the face with my knee.” “Didn’t the doctor say you needed rest? Because I don’t call this rest.” “Do you want to end up in the hospital again?!” “Was it something you ate?” “Is it an allergy? Do I need to call an ambulance?” “My skin is burning…” “I can’t do this anymore, this hurts too much, I’m going to scream.” “You look really pale… I’ll get you some water, alright?” “Don’t move, your neck might be broken. Just lie still until the ambulance gets here, okay?” “Never thought I’d be visiting a stranger in the hospital, but I guess that doesn’t count for strangers I hit with my car.”

Would anyone be interested in a starter???? I’d write some from my old call, but I’m unsure if those who liked it still want one! Thank you so much, I just want to get Masumi back on her feet. I will most likely be messaging you to plot as it is a lot more difficult to come up with scenarios involving Masumi interacting first. Please don’t let this be a one-sided affair, it takes two to plot! EDIT: I AM DEFINITELY GOING TO MESSAGE YOU TO PLOT. DO NOT LIKE THIS IF YOU DO NOT LIKE PLOTTING, THANK YOU.

Before I dive into my drafts and starters I’m adding another rule to my blogs. As before I’m screencapping it to save you a click!
The worse part about losing someone isn’t the exact moment or day you lose them. It’s later when you have exciting news to tell them, or see something that reminds you of them, or even achieved something worth telling them, only to realize that they are no longer there. I think that’s the hardest part about losing someone, it’s the aching feeling that comes when they go.

Hisashi had been walking back to school from the bookshop in town, grateful that the store also sold umbrellas when the rain had started to pour. He wasn’t wearing a coat, definitely not anticipating the foul weather, and his thin frame shivered in the cold air; despite his three piece suit. His nose wrinkled as he surveyed the gloomy scenery, attempting not to let the puddles of water on the road soak his sock and make him even colder; it was unpleasant enough as it was.
That was when he saw the girl without an umbrella, soaked through and cold. Now that was a worse situation, definitely, and he stopped mentally cussing out the weather; instead, he walked towards her, and offered his umbrella.
He didn’t want to invade the girl’s personal space, so was stood with a reasonable distance back. Unfortunately, that also meant that he wasn’t covered; rain water getting in his eyes and plastering his wet hair to his forehead in a matter of moments. Luckily, she’d stepped closer fairly quickly, and he could go under the umbrella once more.
“My apologies if this was a little too forward,” He began.
“You looked cold…”
She’d never had to share an umbrella like this before, let alone with a stranger. A stranger that looked to be the same age as her too—wouldn’t they look like a couple? Masumi’s eyes widen at the dawning realization, turning her head to around in the crowd for anyone that would be looking back.
But there wasn’t. Her shoulders relax and even the chattering of her teeth somewhat subside as she turns her attention back to him. It didn’t matter what it looked like, she told herself to ease her anxiety. Everyone was marching along at the same pace underneath their umbrellas some flimsy and strong with their attention forward. They didn’t have time to wonder. In this downpour she didn’t even think that anyone could hear him talk besides her. Didn’t that make it worse?.
Yes, maybe she could make herself believe that.
“...” she can’t bring herself to speak, she never can, but she nods her head and slicks her hair back before wrapping her arms around her soaked frame once more. Hopefully she doesn’t come across as too rude to someone who went out of his way to help her. He had even gotten soaked himself going out of his way for her.
Even if she couldn’t voice it, she was determined to show her appreciation somehow. A few minutes in silence pass by before she touches his shoulder to get his attention, giving him a weak smile as she signs a thank you.
It was uncommon to come across someone who’d understand, but she was willing to risk some momentary unease and shame in the off chance he knew.
