“What a strange idea. Love isn’t feeling. If it were, I wouldn’t be able to love. Cherubim don’t have feelings.”

Eulagisca gigantea, the giant polynoid worm, is a species of marine Polychaete worm belonging to the family Polynoidae, the scale worms. This species is found on the seabed in the Antarctic Ocean. It grows to around eight inches long, and judging by the jaws, it is a predator, but little is known about its diet or behavior.
The area that appears to be the head is actually a retractable pharynx; the last photo shows what it looks like when the pharynx is retracted. (x x)

2 paintings of beach-dwelling Cercyon species - ink, watercolor, gouache
I made these two paintings while I was sick with the flu and couldn’t go into the lab to work on my research project. Cercyon is a genus of Hydrophilid beetles that lives in moist material such as rotting plants, dung, and algae. I am currently studying the species that live in washed up kelp on Pacific Ocean beaches. The first painting shows adults and larvae on Fucus, Zostera, Sargassum, and two types of Ulva.
