To break my silence (and because dammit, I'm proud of these lol) here's some schmoopsy Baldur's Gate stuff.
Went into the game entirely blind back in October; the blue fella was thought up as my tav's partner who had passed away prior to the events of the game, and I made him the guardian character. I sure didn't dodge the wrench the game threw at me later on. :']
These pins weren't finalized due to manufacturing errors, but I'm very proud of the designs themselves and wanted to share before the year is up. šĀ Perhaps more interesting to me is the turtle's design revision (2nd image here). Something was bugging me about it all these years, so I narrowed it down and tried to make it read as a box turtle proper. The beak was such a simple change, but I think it fixed so much!
Bonus absolute napkin-quality concepts included since the image formatting on tumbles was driving me batty, lol
I'm pretty stoked to share these. Last month I brought home a pyrography machine, and I've been quite infatuated. These four are burned on sassafras wood and finished with polyurethane.
A small celebration of dried grasses and seedpods, finished late last year. :]

shrew-mole-creatures from late 2021, fiddling with ink. Used Deleter 3 Ink (so, so wonderfulĀ š), a Brause 361 nib, a small brush to fill in the chunks of black, and I think a crappy gel pen for the touches of white in the shrewās fur. If I try for that effect again, Iāll look into white ink, gouache, or acrylic paint instead, I think...

It looks like my last post was in May 2020, when Iād been living in Kansas.Ā Covid lockdowns had begun, and art shows abruptly stopped; I found work at big box retail for a number of months.Ā
I started going by the name Jo more often, and quietly using they/their pronouns in more spaces; itās been nice.
A very recent development: an official ADHD diagnosis at age 30, and first attempts at medication to help with it.Ā Ups and downs abound with this sort of thing, as expected, but hey...here I am, typing up a post for you all.Ā Incredible.
About six months ago I relocated to live with my partners of a few years. :) Ā Iām an honorary Yooper these days, weathering my first winter with 125+ inches of snowfall, and theyāre telling me this is a light year!Ā Definitely an experience, and Iām so, so looking forward to spring so I can explore with a clearer head screwed on.
Last september I sold art at my first ever general audience (as in, not-a-furry-or-fantasy-convention, I sāpose) event, and it went swimmingly.Ā MFF in Chicago shortly after was also a huge success.Ā As ever, my art points in a thousand directions at once...but god people are kind, supportive, and enthusiastic, and it means so much that I can make a small living trying to do whatever it is Iām doing.Ā Ā
Iām leaving out the garbage that happened to occur during all of this; things are never all roses. Just seriously hoping that I can use this newfound mental clarity to reconnect with others (and myself, honestly), focus...not be afraid again.Ā
