No they're right actually and they should say it.
The lefts descent into obsession with identity politics means all these boys get from these spaces is essentially being told they're inherently monstrous or will grow up to be so.
12 year old boys are not evil. They're children. And they're susceptible to manipulation from these fucks on the right who have sadly correctly identified that large swathes of the left will ignore and shun them. People turn to extremist factions when they feel ignored and dehumanised.
A 12 year old boy online isn't going to be able to read the nuances in your uber ironic but not really actually ironic "all white men are inherently trash" hot takes. They're going to take that at face value because they're 12 and that's what 12 year olds do. And they're going to feel angry, rejected and judged by your words. And then fucks like Andrew Tate get to swoop in and tell them that you're wrong and start the ball rolling on that indoctrination.
If you're an adult leftist and you honestly think teenage boys possess the wherewithal to purposefully follow dangerous Misogynists like Andrew Tate in order to "preserve their own privilege long term" then I'm sorry to say you're too far gone and I'd suggest logging off and actually trying to have a conversation with a kid who is vulnerable to the grooming of these uber misogynists and treat them as a human being instead of a reflection of an identity you've boxed them into.
You may tick more diversity boxes but you are still the adult. Start acting like it.
These children are being groomed. Don’t fucking victim blame them for being taken advantage of. If they hurt people, that’s still bad, obviously, don’t enable bigotry, but also, y’know… children in abusive groups are kinda sorta being abused and manipulated by people. It’s a fucking tragedy and I hope every child there can escape before it’s too late.
And in case it isn't obvious, the moral of this really is to knock it the fuck off with rhetoric and posts and jokes where the punchline is "men are trash". No, I really don't care what a single man did. No, I also really don't care that you've experienced some form of harm by someone whose identity matches roughly 50% of the entire planet's. You should already understand why it was unacceptable for America to treat its Muslims the way they have been doing since 9/11. You are already aware that the actions of one individual does not make Literally Everyone Else complicit somehow. And you wouldn't say it about literally any other gender demographic under any circumstances, or even in the exact same circumstances.
So knock it off. All you've done and all you're doing is not just ensuring the radicalization of literal children, you're actively insulting and hurting anyone in your life who even remotely identifies as masculine. And I'll tell you a secret: where do you think the idea of all men being irredeemable sexual predators and monsters whose sole purpose is to ensure the oppression of innocent women came from? Does that sort of rhetoric flag any sort of association with you?
It's 2023. We've moved past "neckbeards" in the past decade and now we're facing nazis en masse in large part because of the left's overt disgust of men and a complete willingness to ignore and even demean men who were and are actively feminist. When you have trans men apologizing or staying closeted because they feel like they're "betraying" feminism with their identity, it's time to step back and seriously reconsider what, exactly, it is that you're actually saying with these things. Because just like so many people were thrilled to say any time anyone tried to go "This is fucked up to say and you would not say it for any other demographic"...
...Your words mean things.
There’s a protest going on against AI art over on artstation, so I feel like now is the time for me to make a statement on this issue!
I wholeheartedly support the ongoing protest against AI art. Why? Because my artwork is included in the datasets used to train these image generators without my consent. I get zero compensation for the use of my art, even though these image generators cost money to use, and are a commercial product.
Musicians are not being treated the same way. Stability has a music generator that only uses royalty free music in their dataset. Their words: “Because diffusion models are prone to memorization and overfitting, releasing a model trained on copyrighted data could potentially result in legal issues.” Why is the work of visual artists being treated differently?
Many have compared image generators to human artists seeking out inspiration. Those two are not the same. My art is literally being fed into these generators through the datasets, and spat back out of a program that has no inherent sense of what is respectful to artists. As long as my art is literally integrated into the system used to create the images, it is commercial use of my art without my consent.
Until there is an ethically sourced database that compensates artists for the use of their images, I am against AI art. I also think platforms should do everything they can to prevent scraping of their content for these databases.
Artists, speak out against this predatory practice! Our art should not be exploited without our consent, and we deserve to be compensated when our art is exploited for commercial use.
