NIC:
nic shrugged, perhaps not quite ready to take a glance of him in his so called navy blues. he wished that heâd been warned somehow, but how could he when he didnât even know he was in town in the first place. violet probably knew, he thought, and if they were in good terms his phone would be blowing up with the news from his best friend. sadly, that was a lot to expect after the mess he made. little while ago. nic was surprised they didnât run into each other until now and maybe a little offended as well. his best option was to not hold onto details like those, he couldnât afford to be fighting with any other friends. if he could even consider tyson one anymore, like he said, five years was a long time. resting his free hand on his pocket, nic nodded, wondering how much he knew since he got there and if he knew enough to not want him to be there at all. âwell, i am from here. and we moved back here five years ago, i thought you knew, but makes sense that you didnât i guess.â he told him, offering another shrug as a sign of how awkward he felt suddenly. âhave you seen violet yet? â
tyson kills the ignition, slides from his driverâs seat, moving to lean back against the jeep as if THAT will help dispel this odd tension here ( this push and pull of what should be there and what ISNâT ). new york  âthe new york before tyson left, before he let quinn marie rose plummet to her death, before his mother died, before â it feels like an eternity ago; more easily remembered in a dream than now faced with this ghost from the past. ( what is more TRAGIC? the person who leaves and changes or the person who STAYS and doesnât? ). tyson blinks a bit sadly at nic, gaze dropping to where heâs been twisting an untwisting the lanyard of his keychain. he remembers that now; nic saying heâs from denver, how surprised he was that they shared that connection. heâd forgotten about that ( heâd FORGOTTEN about a lot of things ). â must have left before you left, â he mumbles quietly, â ---and i have. â he doesnât mention that heâd seen her the first day here in denver. itâs FUNNY how things work out --- ( estranged ) best friends that each know a different version of himself. maybe itâs the SITUATION too that makes it so EASY to look at nic differently. â itâs--- â tyson looks up again, â  iâm sorry --- for what itâs worth. â
