ooc: Hey guys. I'm sad to have removed from this RP. I thought I put my hiatus till the end of June, as opposed to the middle, but I guess that was my mistake. However, I was debating leaving, so in a way, you've made up my mind for me. I'm heading towards a busy summer and a new uni in Sept, so hopefully you'll find a Gwaine with more time to offer. Why Stairs Are Inconvenient || Percival & Gwaine

Using all his strength, Gwaine pulled. He felt Percy being slowly released from the step and was once again surprised that the step wasn’t making a noise like treacle. That’s certainly what it felt like.

Then, with a sudden jerk, he was stumbling backwards as Percy came free from the step. He thought he was going to fall on his arse, arms flailing, when two strong hands grabbed at his arms. The combined momentum sent the two of them flying down the stairs into a crumpled heap at the bottom, legs tangled and arms jumbled.

Gwaine snorted, batting at Percy’s hands, as he lay on top of the boy. He started to laugh along, loudly, as he sat up, finding himself balanced on his best friend’s hips.

As Gwaine sat up Percival pushed himself up onto his elbows, letting his laughter die down. He peered around Gwaine at his foot and he wiggled his toes in his shoe and then rotated his foot around, just getting a feel for it again. “For a second there I thought we’d have to just cut off my leg.” He joked.

He stopped moving his foot around and looked back up at Gwaine who was perched up on his hips. It it were someone else he might have called it uncomfortable and awkward to have fallen down the steps and end up with someone sitting on your hips but since it was Gwaine it really didn’t bother him. Gwaine could probably, out of the blue, kiss him on the mouth and it wouldn’t make him uncomfortable! It make him a little confused maybe but not uncomfortable. So Percival just chuckled. “Are you comfortable up there?”

Gwaine grinned back widely. "Yeah actually, I think I am." He raised a hand to his eyes, as if shading them from the sun. "I can see for miles!" He snorted, sliding off from his friend's hips, to sit beside him. He hummed thoughtfully. "You know, I should have cut it off." He poked at Percy's leg. "You could have had a wooden one. Would have made you less clumsy!" He grinned.

He seemed so put out about it, River couldn’t help but laugh. “Oh, relax,” she patted him on the back, “We can just have fun with it. I’m not particularly ‘loyal’ to Slytherin anyway.” There were some students who got so obsessed with what house they were. And while your house was meant to be your family, River had to admit a large number of her ‘family members’ were dicks. “I just wanted to start up a friendly spirit of competition.”

Sticking his tongue out, he gently shoulder barged her. "Oh please. Competition is for everyone, not just for houses." Gryffindors in particular were incredibly competitive, not just between the houses, but between friends and years too.

"Not as lovely as you I’m sure." He waggled his brows before he slipped into the large tub with a sigh, it was heavenly.

Gwaine laughed and bobbed towards Gabe. He slid an arm around his boyfriend's waist and pulled him close, kissing him gently.

With no way to properly express “You didn’t, but I know who you are” Martin just settled for shaking his head. He hadn’t recognized the other immediately anyway. The Hufflepuff was still kicking himself a bit over that.

"The name's Gwaine." He offered out his hand for the boy to shake, smiling warmly at him, which then gave way to a grin. "You can tell me yours later."

He had a point about that. Though so far he was fairly good at reading lips, there wasn’t much avenue for communication without writing everything down. Martin lamented the fact he didn’t have his bag on him. Parchment and ink would have been a godsend right about now. Still he frowned, his face flushed with embarrassment, and crossed his arms over his chest.

Noticing the boy’s expression, Gwaine reached out a hand, resting it lightly on the boy’s shoulder. “Hey now,” he said quietly. “Don’t get all put out with me. I’m just teasing.” He smiled kindly, trying to reassure the boy.

Martin knew it was all in good fun, but he couldn’t help his pride. Had he and Gwaine been good friend’s he probably wouldn’t have reacted so strongly, knowing he wasn’t being made fun of. Either way he tried to push his self-consiousness aside and return to the casual nature of their conversation. It didn’t help that the blasted ring was still heavy on his finger, making him anxious. The younger boy forced himself to relax a bit, and he mouthed ‘It’s okay,’ at Gwaine.

Gwaine gave the boy's shoulder a light squeeze briefly before letting go, trying to reassure him still. He smiled kindly. "Here, did I ever introduce myself?"

Gwaine hummed cheerfully in response, nosing Gabe’s neck. “That’s rather the point.”

He let out a throaty groan as he finally got his boyfriend’s belt off and pushed them down.

Chuckling, Gwaine kicked off his trousers, flicking them towards the rest of their clothes. He quickly did the same with Gabe's, before stepping backwards towards the water. He shot a playful smirk at his boyfriend. "Come on in, the water's lovely."

"You guessed right," River confirmed. She’d thought about being a beater before, but there was just something much more thrilling about being a chaser. The position was so much more versatile as well. "What about you? Position of choice on the field?"

Gwaine, nodded, smiling. “Chaser like you. We’ve probably bumped into each other on the field before.” He grinned. He was a pretty physical player when it came to Quidditch, so yes, he meant it literally.

River laughed at that, “Probably. Usually I’m looking for the quaffle too hard to pay attention to whose holding it.” She made a mental note to take better notes on the other players. She knew the other captain’s well enough - Mordred, Dean’s roommate Lucifer (Gwaine’s roommate too, now that she thought about it) and that ginger Hufflepuff kid that she could never remember the name of - but the other players often didn’t leave too great an impression. “So I guess that ups the stakes of our game. House pride is on the line, after all.”

Huffing out a breath of disbelief, Gwaine shook his head. Everything was about house pride at this school. "Or we could just relax and have a friendly throw about." He shrugged a shoulder. Sometimes he just didn't want to have to care about what colour tie people wore.

Automatically Martin exclaimed “Hey!” though there was no sound to accompany it. He didn’t like the idea of being laughed at, even if it wasn’t maliciously. His ginger brows arched downwards and his lips pouted, before Martin realized what his expression was doing and he tried to school his face into neutrality.

Gwaine laughed cheerfully, watching the boy’s face tumble it’s way through a whole school of emotions. He was a completely open book. Gwaine wondered if he’d ever be able to keep a secret. “Hey, don’t do that. Your face is the only way I know what’s going on with yah.”

Laughing, Gwaine reached out and ruffled Percy’s short hair. “Aye, you’re the little one right now.” He grinned widely, before hooking his hands under Percy’s arms. With their combined strength, getting his friend out should be easy. “Alright. On three, you push up with your other leg, and I’ll pull. That should do it.”

He gave his best glare when Gwaine ruffled his hair. “Enjoy it while you can, soon I’ll be twice the size of you again.” He cracked a smile and nodded. “Sounds good. On three, right? Okay. One…two…three!”

On three Percival used all the strength in his free leg in pushing upwards. That with Gwaine pulling him he could slowly feel his leg being released, like it was being pulled out of extremely thick mud. This would obviously take a while, though, or so he thought. 

When he was just about halfway out the stair suddenly released him and it went from moving through thick mud to moving through water and Percival popped up from the step unexpectedly and his balance was thrown off. “Gwaine!” He shouted and gripped onto Gwaine’s arm as if hoping Gwaine would somehow prevent his falling. Though, really this only ended in him taking Gwaine down with him. They weren’t too far up the steps but it was still quite a tumble for the two boys down the staircase.

Percy reached the bottom first then grunted as Gwaine tumbled on top of him. There was a moment of silence then he looked to Gwaine. “Thanks.” He paused then broke out unto a grin then a laugh as he ruffled Gwaine’s long hair.

Gwaine smiled. "A Healer? Aye, that's certainly helpful. Lot of hard work though." He scrunched up his nose slightly. The thought of working in a hospital really didn't appeal.

Martin’s eyebrows flew up in recognition. He’d only played Gryffindor twice while being captain, but Martin had prided himself on knowing all the members of all the school teams. He was used to seeing the other on a broom, whizzing through the air. That probably explained how he hadn’t recognized him right away.

Snorting, Gwaine gently bumped his shoulder against the boy’s. “You’ve got the most expressive face, mate. It’s giving me a couple of laughs.”

Gwaine watched Peeves go with a bright laugh and a merry wave. Always good to keep in the poltergeist’s good books. Grinning, he turned back to Percy, chuckling at the situation. He threw a piece of chalk between his hands. "I don’t know. I could use with some aiming practice." He grinned mischievously before pocketing the chalk and stepping down to the step above Percy. He surveyed the situation. "Did you forget about the step again?"

"Do it and I’ll trip you down the stairs, little boy." Percival warned back but it was a joke. He wouldn’t really trip Gwaine, just as he knew Gwaine wouldn’t throw the chalk at him. Gwaine just liked to tease which was something Percy could do right back.

He looked down to his leg caught in the trip step and sighed. “Yeah I have. Like always. I can never remember it’s there…” He frowned down at the situation and shook his head. “I’ve tried everything. It won’t budge.”

Gabriel felt a twinge of nervousy, they hadn’t done this a lot at all and so just the idea had his heart racing as he leaned in to kiss him harder, hands dropping to work of Gwaine’s pants.

Gwaine ran a hand up Gabe’s chest, enjoying the feeling of skin and heartbeat under his fingers. He smiled into the kiss as he hands flitted back to undoing Gabe’s belt and pushing his trousers down.

He inhaled deeply at the touch, his own hands stumbling against Gwaine’s belt as he focused to get it off.

Chuckling softly, Gwaine pressed a kiss to Gabe's neck. He nipped at the skin, trying to distract his boyfriend even more.

An enthusiastic nod was the response. Martin’s spine straightened with pride at the knowledge that Gwaine now knew. It didn’t make him very much taller, but his position on the team made Martin swell with importance. ‘Do you play?’ Martin mouthed, miming zooming around on a broom.

Gwaine smiled at the boy’s instant perkiness. And being surprisingly good at lip reading, he got his meaning straight away. “Aye, I do. That’s why I knew you played. Recognised you.” He grinned. “I’m a Gryffindor Chaser.”
