Painting & DIY crafts. Where most people watched TV when they have down time or are bored, she paints, draws, and does crafts instead.
Jewelry making
Listening to music - sheâs a total 70â˛s girl at heart, so she listens to a LOT of vinyls from Fleetwood Mac, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Simon & Garfunkel, Bee Gees...etc. Goes to music festivals whenever she has the opportunity.
Animals - she takes in stray animals whenever she crosses paths with them, so sheâs got a small menagerie on her 5 acre property.
Doesnât own a TV, so she doesnât watch a lot of films or shows. The only time she actually sits and watches stuff, is when sheâs at other peopleâs residence. She grew up without TV, so sheâs WAY behind on her pop culture references.

Grew up in a small hippie commune, located on an impressive farmland in San Joaquin, California. Was raised there, alongside her (much) older brother, by her loving but unorthodox parents Benson and Jewels Arnolds - both of whom were straight up hippies from the 60â˛s / 70â˛s.
Her parents were vegans way before it became a mainstream and âtrendyâ thing, and they passed all of their ideals and beliefs onto her brother and Gwen.Â
She was born and raised on the cruelty-free lifestyle - on the beliefs that eating or using and wearing anything that came from animals was a crime against nature.Â
She has joined riots and protests alongside her parents and brother and the other people who lived among them practically since she could walk, and so readily calls herself an Animal Rights Activist.
Was home-schooled by her mother throughout her entire school years, so sheâs been very sheltered her whole life.
She spent a lot of time all throughout her childhood helping out in the greenhouses and around the farm by tending to the crops; particularly the flowers.
The farm in which the commune resided on was encapsulated by fields of wild flowers and Gwen was always out exploring and gathering colorful bouquets to bring back to the house.
She never had a TV growing up, so she spent a lot of her time outside, helping out around the farm, and simply exploring. She loved being outside, and surrounded by nature.
When she got into her teenage years, Gwen, and the few close friends sheâd formed with other kids her age of the commune, often spent their summers going on days-long trips around California, seeking adventures and simply just living the life of nomadic teens. They hiked and backpacked all over the state, and even ventured as far as Nebraska on a few occasions.
Her parents were all about encouraging Gwenâs need for exploration and adventure; they never once stopped her from going off on her trips, trusting that she would come back when she was ready. Hippies, they were odd that way.
She was devastated when her brother left the commune - the two were very close, so him moving away to Chicago really upset her - but she understood that the lifestyle wasnât for him.
At the age of 16, Gwen permanently left California as well in order to do more traveling, but eventually she settled in Chicago at the age of 19, happy to be reunited with her brother. When she got there, she decided to go to college at the University of Chicago, where she studied Horticulture and Business Manage for four years, earning her BA. She knew that she wanted to build a garden and open her own florist shop, so she took those majors with that career path in mind.
When she graduated university, her parents gifted her with a rather generous sum of cash - from their marijuana-selling side business. She used that money to buy 10 acres of land just outside the city limits, down by the river, which she turned into a beautiful, cozy little homestead and where she set up her own personal garden and greenhouses.
After bartending at Cataleyaâs for two years and saving everything she could, Gwen finally was able to open that florist shop sheâs always wanted. It was called The Meadows Nursery, and itâs a quaint little shop on the south side of the city.
