a plot where two people are " secret friends ", meaning that, for some reason, they only hang out when no one is looking. they go on dinner dates in unpopular restaurants, they go on late night walks in the park, they go to coffee shops none of their friends know, they watch movies in theaters in the other side of town, so no one sees them. but it evolves into something more, and they start questioning why they're doing all of that in secret.

OFF CAMPUS 1x06 — "The Breakaway"
warmth spreads through his body just at the sight of his best friend. tear-stained cheeks break into a soft smile, "have you been pretending?" he takes a long sip of his beer, letting the alcohol burn his throat before somber eyes find those espresso hues he knows so well. "because he seems to think you hate him," nudges enzo gently. the fight tore reece's heart to pieces, he's exhausted and fatigued after finding out his boyfriend has been unfaithful yet again. "why? uhm, why don't you think he's good enough?" reece asks, curious after hours of hearing the opposite from the man he thought loved him.
enzo's face drops, guilt flickering across his features. he swirls the liquid that's in his beer bottle, starting at as if it's become the most fascinating thing in the world. "maybe i haven't done as good a job as pretending as i thought," he admis quietly. at reece's question, his head spins to face him, jaw tightening. "because someone who's good enough doesn't keep cheating on you, doesn't leave you crying on my couch wondering what you did wrong." he pauses, shaking his head. "and it's definitely not you that's the problem, ree." the thought that anyone could hurt reece in such a way made enzo's blood boil.
bridgett almost wants to roll her eyes. "what are you even talking about?" she scoffs, crossing her arms. deep know, she knows that he is right and she is just settling, but her pride isn't allowing her to admit that. "he puts up with me. and we have fun." she pauses. "when we're not fighting." she whispers.
enzo lets out another dry laugh at the words. "bridgett... do you hear yourself?" he asks gently, his voice lacking it's usual teasing edge. "you started with 'he puts up with me' instead of he loves me, and then had to whisper that last part about fighting." he sighs, rubbing the back of his neck. "you deserve someone who's excited to be with you, not someone you have to convince yourself is enough."
it had been so long since cass had seen callie. so when he did lay eyes on her in his hoodie in one of their favorite places, it did something to his heart. it fluttered and made him long for her again. "oh, yeah. that makes sense i guess." he scratched the back of his head. "glad it still has a good home, then."
"well someone's gotta give it the attention it deserves," callie teased, smoothing a hand over the sleeve before catching herself and dropping it back to her lap. "i figured you already had a million hoodies anyway. didn't think you'd notice this one's missing." her gaze lingered on him momentarily. "besides.... it suits me, doesn't it?" she asked with a small grin.

the words, the punchline play over in his head as he flees in humiliation, tears welling in doe eyes. and then - - fingers wrap around his wrist and milo melts into the familiar touch. he slowly ( tentatively ) spins to meet theo face-to-face. though, milo won't meet the other's gorgeous gaze, not when he's teetering on the edge of breaking down. "i'm a joke to everyone, aren't i?" words are soft and slow - - as if his worst fears are being realized. gaze flickers from where theo's fingers meet his skin and up to his eyes ( finally ), blinking back tears. "you don't want them to know about…us…do you?"
theo's heart cracks at the question, his grip on milo's wrist softening as he steps closer. he brings one hand up to cradle his face. "hey, look at me." he murmurs, waiting until milo's gaze finds his. "you're not a joke, milo. not to me." theo lets out a shaky breath, guilt settling deep in his chest. "i don't hide us because i'm embarrassed—i hide us because i'm scared. scared they'll ruin this before we even get a chance to figure out what we are." his thumb brushes gently over milo's wrist. "if i made you feel like i was ashamed of you... that's on me. but i promise you, that's never been the truth."
Eleanora turned back toward Samir, her expression softening as the weight of his words settled over her, the uncertainty that had clouded her thoughts beginning to fade. "I didn't want to lose you either," she admitted quietly, her voice carrying a vulnerability she rarely allowed anyone to hear. "That's why I wanted you to explain." She had never wanted assumptions to become the end of them; she had needed to understand his side, to hear the truth from him instead of letting silence decide everything. Her blue eyes searched his face, studying every flicker of emotion, every hesitation, every unspoken confession lingering between them. When he told her that if she asked him to try again, he would do it in a heartbeat, her breath caught in her throat, hope cautiously blooming where heartbreak had taken root. The sincerity in his voice left little room for doubt, yet she still needed to hear the answer aloud. "So you still have feelings for me?" the dark-haired woman asked, her gaze never leaving his as she waited, afraid of the silence that might follow but unable to look away. "We did try, Samir. You think trying again would change things?"
"el... i never stopped having feelings for you." the confession came so easily now that he hated himself for not saying it sooner. "i just got good at pretending i could live with less of you if it meant i didn't lose you completely." samir's eyes searched hers, guarded but still hopeful. "and i don't know if trying again would magically fix everything. we'd still have the same flaws, the same arguments, the same reasons we broke up in the first place." he took a hesitant step closer, his voice softening. "but we'd also have the reasons why we stayed together for so long. all the things that made us keep choosing each other, even if it was hard." samir swallowed, and gave her a sad smile. "i'm not asking you to forget what went wrong. i'm asking if maybe... we've both spent so much time trying to convince ourselves we were better as friends that we never stopped to ask if that's what we actually wanted. because if you're asking me whether i'd try again..." his fingers twitched at his sides, resisting the urge to reach for el's. "the answer is yes. every single time."

" okay , well , maybe i just like hearing you tell me i look good. you ever think of that ? " the tease falls softly from her lips , moving closer to where her friend was settled. the hint of jealousy wasn't completely lost on rory , but social cues weren't her strongest attribute. " mhm , and what else is the point of a date if not for me to be doted upon ? " she's joking , but she did love attention. " what is it , avery. you're not mad im going , right ? did i forget me had something planned ? "
avery let out a quiet huff and rolled her eyes, despite the warmth settling in her cheeks. "don't let it go to your head," she mumbled, though the corners of her mouth quirked upwards. at rory's question, her smile faded. "no, we didn't have any plans," she hesitated, fingers fidgeting with the edge of her sleeve. maybe that was part of the problem. "i'm not mad." avery paused. "i just... don't think they're gonna appreciate you the way they should." she shrugged her shoulders, trying to play if off. "that's all."
staying where she was, angel became comfortable at their spot. her hands lightly stroked june, nuzzling her face against her for a few more seconds before stopping to look up at her. “what?” she asked with a tilt of her head, being unable to hear the first comment but she did hear the rest. sitting up and pulling away, she was confused by her statement. “what do you mean by that? you're never a problem, babe.”
juno let out a quiet laugh, shaking her head as she reached for angel's hand again. "no... that's not what i meant." her thumb brushed absentmindedly over angel's knuckles, her gaze lingering a little too long on the other girl. "i just..." juno hesitated, swallowing heavily. "i think i'm forgetting where the pretending ends." a sheepish smile crossed her lips as she looked away. "so if anyone's making this complicated, it's me."

THE VAMPIRE LESTAT 03.07 | "The Failures"
victoria was having too much fun. it was so easy. she felt like she didn't need even need to do that much to make maya squirm. "i think i'll enjoy you watching do other things more." she says with a smirk on her face before licking her lips. she's surprised that the other accuses her of bluffing. "why would i bluff? you think i'm just all talk and no game? we're roommates, you know that's not true." she lets out a laugh. "i hear you too, you know. touching yourself. you think you're so quiet and no one can hear you. but i hear everything, all the panting breaths and the whimpers." she turns more towards maya and inches closer to her, so that she's almost whispering in the other's ear. "i hear the restraint, i hear the small moans you try to repress." a wicked smile appears on her face before she adds, "i even hear you whimpering out my name."
maya's face burns hot at the words, blood rushing to her cheeks so fast she feels dizzy, and when she opens her mouth to deny it, the words die in her throat. the look in victoria's eyes says she knows with cold, certain clarity what she's been getting up to late at night when maya thinks she's fast asleep in the other room. she wants to step back, to put space between them, but her feet won't move—trapped by the sudden overwhelming awareness of every secret she's tried to keep hidden behind these godforsaken thin walls. maya realizes how naive she's been and that she probably should've known better. but a tiny part of her has been hoping she would be able to get away with it. "you weren't supposed to hear any of that," she finally whispers, the admission slipping out before she can stop it. her humiliation only seems to grow bigger as she lets out an involuntary whine at victoria's words. "that's... that's not fair, v."
