“Hey now, I said you could have a couple of my spring rolls, not all of them.” Gwen replied with a laugh as she perched back down on the seat beside her companion, picking up one of the remaining rolls and popping it into her mouth all in one go. “Oh god, they are really good.”

“Guess you haven’t been looking in the right places then.” November raised her eyebrow. “Lina and I have made it work.” She said. “Maybe if you ask really nicely I can help you out.”

“Oh really?” The blonde pondered, his lips converted into a wry grin as she kept her eye on her friend. “You have something on the go?”

“Yeah, of course! Anything for family,” she said with a grin. She’d only ever grown up with brothers, so it was really nice to come here and find out that she had so many more sisters to meet and get to know. There were just some things Noel didn’t understand, no matter how much he tried his best to. “Yeah, I’ve got two older brothers who practically raised me together, well Noel more than Finn. They’re both Big Three kids, so it was kinda tough growing up with their big egos,” she said with a laugh.

“They’re Poseidon and Zeus kids?” Gwen paused for a moment and blinked, trying to put her response into a way that wouldn’t offend the girl’s mother. “I mean, that’s impressive for one family, isn’t it.” She usually didn’t care about insulting people, however it mattered when it was her family. “I bet it was nice though, growing up with a family who took care of you and stuff? Mine was sorta’ the opposite.”

Jolene swayed on her feet nodding her head, she thought it was clever as well, and something she hadn’t seen truly done before. So she was proud of herself. But when Gwen mentioned more food she got excited, almost bouncing in place but halting herself. “Proper cuban! Got it. I know a couple dishes my friend taught me,” She clapped her hands together once before stretching, “Was there a specific dish you really loved when you got Cuban?” Was another idea forming in her head about a silly gimmick she could do? Hell yes. Was she ready to voice it yet? Not so much. No, for now she’d stay in the info gathering phase and get lots of ideas from her new neighbors on the island.

Gwen was surprisingly happy to stand here and carry on this conversation. Usually she could really think of nothing worse than talking with someone that she didn’t know, but there seemed to be something that she could get out of this, some Cuban food on the island, and it made it slightly better that she was helping someone out too. “I mean, you have the classic Ropa Vieja which is amazing if done right, but my favourite was from this little shake down 52nd Street in New York, and they did the best sweet plantains.”

Lisa inadvertently chuckled at that comment. She knew first-hand how Gwen’s temper could flare up. “I dread to think what his temper’s like then.” She jested, a self-satisfied smirk easing onto her features. “It would have been therapeutic to kick their asses though,” Lisa murmured. “Speaking of therapeutic, have you ever tried plate throwing? It’s actually a thing.”

“Mhm, not great.” Gwen mused as the two started to walk down the main street, not sure where they were heading, but as long as it was away from that group of guys, that’s what mattered. “Plate throwing?” She frowned and turned to look at her friend. “No, that’s not something I’ve tried, you know. I like a sturdy punching bag and a good bit of rock music in my ears to relieve stress.”

As arms wrapped around him in a hug, Levi wasted no time reciprocating the action. Seeing the blonde alive and well brought him a sense of relief he didn’t think he’d ever get to experience. They’d gone through things together so many other people wouldn’t understand, and for once, he felt like maybe his life didn’t have to be split into two parts. Maybe his past and present could coexist. “I’ve missed you so much,” he said as he squeezed her tightly. After a few moments, he finally released her and walked them both further into the house. “What are you doing here? I mean, not on Icaria because I’m guessing you’re also a kid of a God if you’re here. I mean, what made you stop by my house?” It wasn’t like Levi was the most social person. He mostly kept to himself unless Gianna asked him to be her date to a hang out with her friends or something like that. 

“I actually didn’t know it was your house.” The blonde replied with a smile as she pulled back from the embrace, her eyes scanning over Levi’s face as she did so. No matter how much time had passed since she had seen him, he still looked like the same kid that she had cared so much about. She always would care about him. “I’m a child of Ares, and so is Gianna - she’s my sister. I take it then that you’re her Levi, her boyfriend that I hear a lot about?” She grinned, happy that the man that Gianna was with, was someone like Levi.

Being back in his normal life was something that Will was constantly going to have to get used to. At least he had been able to meet up with Mike, though in his sleep, his brother being one of the people he missed more than anything. The other people he had yet to even be able to contact and had no idea how to. Though from his father’s words, Leo was around this island somewhere and Will was going to make sure to find him as soon as possible. One thing that Will never anticipated was also running into Gwendolyn Vern. Her voice made goosebumps appear on his skin as he turned to her, feeling almost as if he were moving in slow motion. “Gwen,” his voice uncharacteristically soft as he regarded the woman in front of him. He could only imagine what was going on inside her head at this moment.

Gwen didn’t feel. Her upbringing and her past made sure of that; she’s turned off her emotions, and never let anything show except to those who really mattered to her. Seeing Will in front of her changed everything; it made her want to feel again, and caused a lump to form in her throat as she took in the features of his face. A face that she remembered so well, even though he’d aged over the past five years. “You need to start talking right now.” She spoke, her voice quiet as she tried to maintain her composure, to which she was failing miserably. “You died...”

“Exactly, the same menu just – gets boring. I know that sometimes keeping the menu the same makes the chefs better at the dish which makes it better all around, but I figure experimenting will help everyone more.” She shrugged, “But I understand, there’s only so much of any food you can eat before you get tired of it and need a break. Hopefully we won’t have that issue at our place. I’d rather miss that bus if possible.” She smiled playing with a strand of her hair, “Is there any style of food in particular you’d like? I’m making a list!”

 “It’s a very clever marketing technique.” Gwen nodded, crossing her arms over her chest as she thought about it - yes there were people that went to certain restaurants to ensure that they could have a certain dish, but something that was varied and changed all of the time sounded very exciting. “You know what,” she mused, “I used to live in big cities and I miss how eclectic the food was. Proper Cuban food is up there as one of my favourites, I think.”

Closed Starter Levi & Gwen @gwxndolyn

It was another regular night for Levi after getting home from work. Gianna was off somewhere most likely socializing with friends, but she’d been awesome enough to leave him dinner cooked on the stove for when he got home. The woman was seriously sent from the Gods to him, and no one could convince him otherwise. He was just serving himself a plate when he heard someone at the door. Setting it down on the table, he walked over to let whoever was there in. Nothing could have prepared him for who was on the other side though. It was like a blast from his past. “Gwen,” he asked in complete shock. “What the hell are you doing here? I haven’t seen you since I got out of Chicago.” When Levi had made the deal with the cops to turn over names of the gang, he’d only agreed if he, Gwen, and Will could be protected. He’d thought he’d failed both of them, but apparently the blonde was living and breathing. “Shit, sorry. Gianna would kick my ass for leaving you on the porch for so long. Come in.”

Gwen hadn’t seen her younger sister in a while, so had decided to pop over to the house to say hi. In honestly, she was checking up on her of course, but Gwen being Gwen wasn’t going to admit that, because Gianna was a big enough girl who could look after herself and probably wouldn’t appreciate a second older sibling poking her nose in constantly just to check in now that she had returned to the island. As the door swung open, it wasn’t Gianna standing there however, it was. face that she hadn’t seen in a long time. “Wait, Levi? Levi Ryder?” She gasped, shocked to see the face standing on the other side of the apartment, and with her mouth still hanging open like a fish out of water, she made her way into the apartment, her eyes never leaving him. “I thought you had gotten yourself killed, kid. I really did.” She spoke softly, not even thinking about moving closer to him and wrapping her arms around him in a hug. Gwendolyn Vern did not hug - but there were a couple of exceptions.

Lisa was slightly taken aback by the fact Gwen was the one talking sense into her. Truthfully, Gwen was one of the few people whose words would not fall on deaf ears. She inhaled deeply in an attempt to calm herself down. As much Lisa wanted to cause a scene, she knew Gwen was right. “You being sensible? I never thought I’d see the day,” she joked.

“I’m a child of Ares, but I can at least control my temper a little better than him.” The blonde mused, letting go of Lisa once they were a good few paces away from the lads that had been bothering them, heading down towards the beach. “If I thought it would have benefited from you beating the shit out of them, I would have left you to it. It just isn’t worth getting angry over people so small.”

EVER since gwen had stood up for her in the middle of the street when she was pregnant , thea had gravitated towards the elder blonde and had found comfort in her company . “ definitely not . ” thea agreed as she took the bottle back with a grin . when asked how her son was doing , thea smiled softly . “ he’s wonderful . growing like a weed , of course ! me ? i’m tired , but grateful . not only do i have literally the perfect son , but his birth pushed warren and i to finally get together , so there’s that . ” she admitted with a shrug . “ how’re you ? ” 

Gwen didn’t like most people, but there was something about Thea that she would always enjoy. She wasn’t the sort of person that she would usually find herself around, see November and Lina for examples, but Thea was different. It felt easy to talk to her. “He is,” the blonde replied with a smile, catching the end of what looked like either a smile or gas on Oliver’s little face, “it’s shocking how much he’s grown in such a short amount of time.” She then snapped her head back up as she heard that Warren and Thea were now together, and her smile grew slightly. “Oh look! Well, that’s a plus, isn’t it. Hows that going?” She asked, before nodding. “Oh, I’m all right. Getting on, as per usual.”

“No not greek.” Jolene smirked shaking her head. “I figure Little Icaria has that covered, I think the main focus will be gourmet french – but monthly we’ll change the theme, so some months it will be Italian, Japanese, Thai, Chinese – basically whatever catches my interest every once in a while. Give me the chance to experiment.” she wanted to introduce more people to different types of food. Wanted to let them learn and explore and what better way than a restaurant that rotated its menu? 

“That’s good, it can be get a bit tiring after a while. I mean it’s nice, there’s just a certain amount of tzatziki dip you can have before you think enough.” Gwen spoke, trying not to insult the little restaurant that she liked. She nodded slowly as Jolene spoke about what her restaurant would be theme wise, and a small smile ghosted over her face. “That actually sounds really good, very fresh.”

“We’ve been around a while.” November shrugged. “We’ve been pretty entertaining ourselves though.” They were a perfect team at this point. Should be with how long they’ve been partners in crime. “What about you? Are you on the straight and narrow, or up to no good yourself?”

“I’m rather bored in this town, I have to admit.” The blonde sigh, leaning back against the sofa, her eyes never leaving November - she trusted her, of course, but she had learnt to never take your eyes off of her, or Lina. “There’s not a lot of activity for people like us.”

“You love them because they don’t live with you.” Nelly joked. “They’re truly little terrors and cleaning your place to get rid of them for a bit is a steal.” Her tone was completely joking. Anyone who knew Nelly knew how much she loved her girls. Reaching out she took Lyra’s hands in her own. “We both have that in common, but don’t let her ruin this for you. Sometimes we make a mistake but having the few people you do trust is important. You’ll always have me. As for Remi, my best advice is give it some time. This whole situation is a mess and maybe you’ll find it in your heart to forgive her someday.”

“I reckon I’d still love them, even if I did.” Lyra grinned - she’d never really cared for children, but there was something about Thalia and Callie that she adored and never got tired of. Feeling her friend’s hand in hers, the blonde gave her fingers a reassuring squeeze. She didn’t really like talking about her feelings at the best of times, but she was lucky to have Nelly around that she could confide in. “I know, trust me, I’m never letting you leave this island.” She tried to laugh, although it fell flat. “Maybe. I love her, and I think I always will. I just... I just don’t know if I can get past the fact that she hid Lachlan from me.”

Icaria was an interesting place, that was to be sure. It didn’t surprise him one bit that Mike had decided to settle down in a place like this. After his brother popped into his dream, which was a sensation that Will wasn’t sure he would have ever had again, he was excited to settle down somewhere. It would be nice to be near his brothers again and from the sounds of it about a dozen cousins running around here. Making his way towards the grocer, Will made a stop at a fruit stand ran by a rather happy man and his dog. He wanted to support local business and wanted to see if any of the fruit would go great in a cocktail at the speakeasy. Turning to the woman walking down the street, he gestured for her to stop. “Have you tried their fruit before? Do you think they’re any good – wait, Gwen?” His heart nearly stopped at the familiar face staring back at him. She was the last person he ever expected to find here.

Gwen didn’t mind market day - she had never really been one to visit markets, but living on a small island like this, it was quite fascinating to see what the vendors had on sale each week. She’d bought a couple of pairs of earrings today, and a new set of wine glasses for her cabinet (she’d broken one a little while ago when she’d had too much wine) and was on the hunt for her next bargain when she heard a voice behind her, questioning her about some fruit. With a confused expression on her face, the blonde turned around to answer him, but was immediately shocked down to her core, and froze in place. Staring back at her was the face of a dead man. “W-Will?”

Chloe did not really believe that it was the gods at work here, but she appreciated the thought very much. The idea of some god putting Gwen behind her was… scary. She didn’t like it. “Uhm! Well, I’m getting by. It’s been quite the adjustment, but it’s so nice to see everyone. I think that you could make fake people that looked like real people, which is harrowing, so I missed my family very much. Because I couldn’t bring myself to make fake people.” Actually, she hadn’t been able to bring herself to make much besides fire and things to burn, but that was unimportant. “How is, uhm, the gym? You do gym things, yes?”

“You could make fake people that looked like real people? Oh no, I wouldn’t have done that either.” Gwen replied, having frowned slightly, and was shaking her head. “I think you made the right call there - it would be strange with them not being that person that you were actually missing.” She spoke, before then bringing a small smile onto her lips. “Yes, I run the self-defence class at the gym, and I’m branching out a bit into training; the class isn’t as popular as I thought it would be, with everything that goes wrong on this island. But it’s good, thank you.”
