"Hello, Islanders! I heard there was a party going on!" You shout, lifting a bottle of champagne with a loud whoop.
This is it, the moment you never thought would come. Countless months of interviewing and emails with producers, weeks of being locked up in a hotel room, and a history of bad boyfriends have led you to this moment. An opportunity that not many can say they've had, but now you can.
The table surrounded by your now fellow islanders goes from frozen looks of shock to loud cheers, making you smile as you begin your stride toward the table. The nerves you felt just a few minutes ago have thankfully turned into excitement and confidence. And why not? You feel more beautiful than you ever have before, dressed to the nines and done up like a model as you strut toward the approaching group.
There's too many people that greet you in quick succession for you to get a good look at everyone's faces or to fully catch any names. Somewhere in the hurried introduction, a name and a flash of a familiar face catches a memory in the back of your mind. You don't get a chance to focus on it as the next person approaches you with a hug and a smile. Luckily, you're soon sitting around the fire pit with a cold flute of champagne in your hand and a clear view of everyone's face from your seat on the far edge of the sofa.
You're mindful of your body language, exuding confidence with perfect posture, a bright smile, and casual tosses of your hair over your shoulder while everyone goes down the line to introduce themselves.
You lift you glass to your lips just as the last guy sits forward and immediately you choke, curling forward as you croak out, "Jaehyun?!"
"Do you two know each other?" One of the girls, Bella, you learned her name was, asks, her head swiveling between the two of you.
You nod, clearing your throat, "he's best friends with my ex."
"Was," Jaehyun quickly corrects, cheeks rosy, "we're not friends anymore."
One of the guys, Sam, speaks up, "whoa, what happened there?"
"Jaehyun was the one that told me I got cheated on," you reply, hoping it comes off as nonchalant and not hurt. Lord knows your ex has done enough damage to your self-esteem, you don't need his mess to affect you in the villa too.
Murmurs erupt around the group, a mix of surprise and consolation. You shrug it off, answering questions that the islanders toss your way. You go through the usual spiel of your age, job, where you're from, last relationship, and length of said relationship.
"Wait, what's your type?" One of the guys, Leo, asks.
You hum thoughtfully, "I don't really have a type physically. I think I prefer a guy who is silly and makes me laugh, kind, good values, loyal, a gentleman, and respectful. In any sort of connection I just prefer to build a friendship before focusing on the romantic aspect."
Another guy, Ben, smacks Jaehyun on the back with a smirk, "you have an in, dude!"
You're quick to dispute any romantic interest in Jaehyun before the girls pull you for a chat. The girls break down the current couples of the house but reassure you that no one is closed off quite yet. Everyone is still feeling each other out and obviously the partnerships were based on initial physical attraction, though some girls seem more eager to close things off than others.
You all chat for a while, giving each other your worst date stories before you hear a throat clear behind you. "I was sent to call you over for your boys chat," Jaehyun states awkwardly as he tucks his hands into his pockets.
You laugh softly, taking his extended hand as you step down from the platform and bid the girls goodbye. "Funny seeing you here," you tease with a gentle nudge of your elbow.
"Of all the places on earth," Jaehyun chuckles in agreement.
The conversation with the guys goes almost identically to you conversation with the girls, but it's so obvious that some of the guys are laying the flirtation on thick. One day in the villa and they're already thirsting for the next piece of meat on legs. You wonder if they're actually here to find love or have fun. Despite that, you accept all their compliments, absorb all the information they're giving you, and even let Tony give you a tour of the villa.
Tony is nice, handsome and definitely confident. He walks you through the villa, showing you through each area. "And here we have the bedroom," he tells you with a dramatic wave of his hand, "this is mine and Mei's bed, but it can be you and I's if you play your cards right."
Somewhere on the tour of the second floor, one of the couples, Sam and Luna, join you before you all end up on the last stop, the kitchen. You're not sure how much time has passed, but you're both exhausted and happy to snack on chips while you make conversation with everyone around you.
When bedtime is finally called, you're grateful to be in a fresh room, clean faced, and in a soft bed. You settle beneath the covers and sigh happily. The first day is done, you survived and everyone seems nice. The apprehension you felt just a few hours ago is long gone, and you're relieved to have been welcomed warmly.
Over the course of the next couple days, you make your way around the villa, getting a feel of every guy, well, almost every guy. You're polite with Jaehyun but also hyper aware of how odd the situation is. You never felt romantic feelings for him when you hung out before coming on the show, so why would those feelings be there now? He was handsome, sure, that was undeniable, but why put forth effort for something you already know isn't there?
You've spent most of your few days in the villa getting to know the rest of the guys, feeling out potential vibes and connections. No one has fully blown you away, but you know you're looking to build a solid foundation of friendship before diving headfirst into romance.
Tony almost immediately took himself out of the running with his joke on night one and the fact that he is hardly subtle about keeping his gaze on your face and not your chest when he pulls you for conversations. The other girls have shared their same experiences, so it's pretty clear Tony is just there for a summer of exploring rather than actual love. He also seems incapable of talking about anything but his gym routine, his meal prepping, and his muscles. Conversations with him never seem short enough.
Thankfully, the other conversations go semi-better. Sam manages to sneak Luna into every conversation you two have which makes you melt. In the course of the week, you find yourself even giving him advice on how to woo Luna, you already love them together so you won't be stepping on any toes there. Ben is also nice, he's funny, but tells you after just a couple conversations that he's not feeling any romantic chemistry with you. You can't fault him for his feelings and you appreciate his honesty. All signs lead you back to Leo.
Leo has been nice. You both have a decent amount in common and he's very keen to get to know you, constantly pulling you for chats that always end with you clutching your stomach with laughter. As fun as the conversation are though, nothing clicks right away. There have been no sparks, but you force that self-sabotaging voice to shut up. Your journey will have to take some time, especially since you want to build a friendship first. You just have to take it all day by day.
At the end of the first week, in the middle of your conversation with Leo, your phone dings loudly. "I got a text!" You shout, jumping to stand up on the couch, "Islanders, tonight there will a recoupling, boy's choice. As bombshell, I will get the opportunity to have first pick of the boys."
The boys cheer excitedly and the girls eye each other nervously. You dance excitedly on the bench, stopping only when you hear a snort of laughter from the kitchen. You stop, a playful glare focused on Jaehyun, "I get first choice, Jae. If I were you, I'd be flirting my ass off instead of laughing at someone else's happiness."
"I'm not laughing at your happiness," he rolls his eyes playfully, "I'm laughing at those horrible dance moves."
Your jaw drops in mock offense as he shuffles away to a lounger to chat with his partner, Maya. You bid Leo goodbye as you seek out his current partner Jade to let her know where your head is at. You don't want it to be a shock to her and you certainly don't want to let your decision ruin the friendships you're already forming.
"You have nothing to worry about," Jade reassures you with a tight embrace, "I know you're not in the best spot, coming in as a bombshell and having to steal a guy. I really appreciate you letting me know though."
You let out a long exhale, slumping back against the swing seat while wiping fake sweat from your brow, "you're the best. Seriously."
Just a few hours later, when the sun has set and the cool sea breeze has begun to blow, Ariana, the host, struts toward the fire pit where you're all waiting anxiously. She smiles at you all making small talk about your experiences so far before she instructs the rest of the girls to stand in front of the fire pit and calls your name, "as the bombshell, the first choice of the first recoupling is yours. Who would you like to couple up with?"
You exhale softly, wringing your hands together as you stare ahead nervously over the flames of the fire, "I want to couple up with this person, because he's been super nice and we have good conversations. It's early days, but I think we're on the right track to building what could be a great relationship."
"So the guy I would like to couple up with is…" you pause, "Leo."
Leo beams as the islanders around you clap and cheer. He keeps an arm around you as the rest of the villa goes through the recoupling. You're hardly able to focus as your heart returns to it's normal heart rate after the anxiety of making a speech and choosing your first partner.
"Jade, as the only girl not in a couple, you are now single and vulnerable," Ariana recites, making your stomach lurch with guilt, "but you're journey isn't over yet. Get your flirt on, make some connections, and I'll see you all soon."
The tension lifts at Ariana's words immediately. You give a casual pat to Leo's thigh before crossing the deck to hug Jade and apologize once more for leaving her single. She waves you off, jokingly telling you that now she has the upper hand to get first dibs on the next bombshell to enter.
The next day, you find yourself refilling your water bottle when someone clears their throat harshly behind you. You jump at the startling sound and turn to find Jaehyun standing there with an amused smirk, "can I pull you?"
You nod, taking a sip of water before following him up the stairs to a sunken daybed that's been named with neon lights, 'Soul Ties', "don't make a habit of scaring me as your greeting."
He holds out a hand to help you down the steps before you settle into the pillows with a hum, ignoring the unexpected spark of warmth at his touch. Jaehyun extends his arms on the edge of the bed, stretching his legs out before he turns his gaze to you, "so I noticed you've been avoiding me."
You cough, cheeks hot at his bluntness, "I would hardly call it avoiding. I'm being polite, getting to know everyone, taking advantage of getting to know new people and all that."
"You've had a conversation with every guy but me since you got here. Hell, you're even talking to Tony more than me and I know he doesn't make eye contact. Yeah, you have been polite, but you've been super…" he trails off.
"Charming, beautiful, and amazing?" You offer with a smile.
"Awkward." He corrects with a straight face, "Look, I know the last time we saw each other wasn't the best time, but we were friends. We can still be friendly here. I don't want you to feel awkward around me or feel like you have to avoid me because I was the cause of your last relationship ending."
"No way!" You quickly interrupt, reaching out to place a comforting hand over his own, "my last relationship ended because of his shitty actions. You were the messenger of the unfortunate news but I don't fault you for anything. You were incredibly brave and kind to tell me that. I'm really sorry I've been weird around you. I don't want to ruin your experience here or make you feel like you can't talk to me either. You're right, we can be friends again. It's actually really nice to have someone from home here."
"It is nice," he agrees with a soft smile before letting out an exhale of relief, "How's your mom?"
Your brows furrow in confusion as you reel back, "you remember my mom? When did you guys even meet?"
"One time I had to drop you off at home when you got too drunk. You told me your parents' place was closer so I took you there. Nice lady," he explains simply. From there, it's easy to get lost in conversation. You both reminisce on your time before the villa before any drama even went down for hours, hardly even noticing the sun slowly sinking on the horizon.
In the midst of your laughter, a pair of slapping sandals draws your attention toward Maya, Jaehyun's partner who stands with her arms crossed and a smile that looks sweet at first, but the longer you look up at her, the more irritation you see. "You guys have been up here all day! I almost forgot you recoupled with Leo last night," she laughs brittly.
Jaehyun clears his throat as he stands, holding his hand out to help you up, but Maya's gaze burns, so you instead get up by yourself. "We were just catching up, we're old friends, remember?" he attempts to ease the tension.
"Right, friends. Glad to see two friends getting close. Let's go, Jae," Maya instructs, wrapping a hand around his wrist to drag him off before you can even get another word in.
The tension Maya brought with her makes your hair raise and want to get away as soon as possible. Still, you can vaguely make out Jaehyun's voice telling her, "I'd actually prefer if you called me Jaehyun."
You amble down the stairs with your brows pinched, walking across the lawn toward Jade who sits on a lounger beside Leo on pool deck. Leo perks up, patting the spot at the end of his chair for you to take a seat, "hey there!"
"What's with that look?" Jade snorts.
Your gaze is drawn back up to the second floor, where Jaehyun and Maya sit outside the beauty room in a conversation of their own. "I just had the strangest interaction with Maya, like she was mad I was talking to Jaehyun, who I've already said is just a friend, or something," you mumble as you set your water bottle down.
"Oh shit!" Leo laughs as he sits up, "I thought you were avoiding him because the girls had already given you the full rundown. Maya is… she's intense."
"Intense how?" You ask slowly.
"She waltzed in on night one and refused to actually take part in the ice breaker challenge until she had conversations 'of substance' with each of us guys because she's not looking for a summer fling—" Leo explains before Jade cuts him off.
"She's here looking for a husband," Jade chuckles as she twists her hair up and clips it back, "she deemed Jaehyun the most husband-like of all the guys and has her claws sunk in him. It's only a week in so obviously he's still taking it slow. I think her before bed conversation is how many kids she wants."
"Sheesh," you wince, "she does sound intense."
Leo runs his hands through his hair with an amused smile, "beside that, you had a good conversation though?"
"Yeah, no more weird vibes," you confirm before playfully narrowing your gaze between your two fellow islanders and a lazy point between them, "reigniting sparks here?"
"We were actually planning a threesome between the three of us," Jade quickly responds.
You tense, blinking blanky at her. Leo reaches over to smack her arm as he begins to cackle, Jade joins and you slump down in relief, joining in on the laughter. You wipe tears away from the corners of your eyes, "I think the two of you are going to be a problem for me."
Jade shrugs with a bright smile, "you'll learn to love it."
That night, after avoiding Maya and her harsh glare, you jump onto your bed and pull the covers over your legs. Leo is on the far side of the room practicing some kind of handshake with Ben. Jaehyun flops onto his back on the bed beside your own, his microphone discarded on the bedside table between your beds. Being in the bed beside Jaehyun and Maya never felt weird before, but now it does. You're overtly conscious of your actions as you keep your gaze low and pull off your microphone, winding the cord neatly.
"Hey," you hear Jaehyun say.
You peek over at him from the corner of your eye, feeling your cheeks heat at the sight of him. His hair is messy and damp from his shower and chest bare and tanned from a week in the sun. He looks unbelievably comfortable in his pajama pants but also unbelievably handsome with his glasses on. You don't trust your voice and instead arch your brow at him in response.
"Do you still like vanilla lattes?" He asks as he turns on his side to face you.
"Yes…"
"Awesome, I'll whip one up for you in the morning."
You don't even get the chance to dissuade him when the rest of the girls come pouring into the room. You instead lay down, turning to face Jade now in her own bed on the opposite side to make conversation before Leo comes to bed.
You're nearly asleep, Leo is knocked out beside you as you turn away from your partner to find a more comfortable position, when you hear a soft whisper of your name. You open your eyes, gaze unfocused for a second before you see the soft wave of Jaehyun's hand, "good night."
You pull the covers higher to conceal your smile before whispering, "good night, Jae."

Stand up straight, look casual but happy, eyes on Julie while she speaks, eyes back to Ariana— fuck, breathe! You repeat mentally, occupying your hands from nervous fidgeting by interlacing your fingers.
Just one spot over, Julie is smiling brightly, gushing enthusiastically, "my type of man is a proper country boy. I want a man who's good with his hands, knows what he wants, and has lots of muscles."
Ariana smiles, asks Julie a few more questions and then moves onto you, the last girl in the lineup. You introduce yourself, give all your basic details and then pause when you get asked what you're looking for, "I don't like saying I have a specific physical type but I've had a history of being more attracted to guys with dark hair and dark eyes. I like a guy who's taller than me and ooh! I like tattoos too!"
The girls around you laugh at your excitement, you smile before you continue, "but I won't get upset if a man that looks like that doesn't walk in. I really am here looking for love and that comes from someone's character more than their looks. I really want someone who's genuine, straightforward, a gentleman, kind, and thoughtful. Gosh, I could go on all day!"
"Well," Ariana grins, lifting a hand, "let's see what Love Island has to offer! Please help me welcome our first male islander, Jack!"
One by one the guys come down, introduce themselves and eye you all hopefully, eager to see who is willing to step forward for them first. As it stands, Anna is coupled up with Jack, Nicki is coupled up with Isaac, and Emily is coupled up with Ethan.
"Please welcome, Johnny!" Ariana announces, gesturing to the villa walkway.
You squeak quietly, your eyes widening at the sight of the guy walking toward you like he's coming from your dreams. Julie squeals beside you, gripping your hand and giving it an excited shake. As he walks closer, you're not sure if the heat you feel throughout your body is from the blazing Fijian sun, or your blood pumping from the mere sight of Johnny.
He's tall with legs that go on for days and has dark hair styled effortlessly away from his face, but there are a few strands hanging down that have your hands itching to brush them back. He smiles brightly with an air of nonchalance around him like having all this attention on him isn't nerve-wracking. His whole torso is glimmering, likely with the same oil the producers had you rub yourself down with, but the shine on him is… mouthwatering.
"Fuck me," you breathe out, your eyes shamelessly dragging over the length of his body and the stark contrast of the bright blue swim shorts that are the perfect length on his muscular thighs.
Luckily, Johnny is far enough away that he can't hear you. Unluckily, everyone standing around you does, Ariana included. She can't help but curl forward, laughing loudly as Johnny comes to a stop beside her with adorable confusion showing on his face.
"Johnny!" Ariana smiles, using a finger to wipe an amused tear from the corner of her eye, "tell us about yourself!"
As if he can't get any hotter, his voice is deep and smooth like melting butter in a hot pan. You physically have to fight the shiver that runs down your spine, but there's no stopping the goosebumps that break out across your whole body.
"Hi, I'm Johnny. I'm 30 and I'm from Chicago," he grins. You watch as his gaze goes down the line of couples and singles still looking for their partners. When your eyes meet, you swear you feel electricity spark between the two of you.
He goes on his spiel for a bit, telling everyone that he's looking for a nice girl to fall in love and that his parents have been very insistent on having a lovely daughter-in-law. Sure, you're looking at him with a smile on your face, but you're stuck in your head. Is your bikini top sitting correctly? How does your butt look? Do you have any hairs sticking out wildly?
You're snapped out of it when you hear Ariana say your name with a teasing smile, "what do you think?"
Your cheeks heat but you don't let your embarrassment show, "oh, Johnny is very handsome. I think he'll be fun to get to know." Smooth.
"That's nice to hear," he nods, his lips pulled back in a relaxed smile.
Ariana asks a few more girls what they think about Johnny before she recites, "if you're interested in coupling up with Johnny, please step forward."
You take a deep breath, hoping your heart rate slows before you take one step forward. Julie quietly gasps beside you. You look left to find that Emily has also stepped forward, leaving her current partner, Ethan, looking awkward.
"Two girls have stepped forward for you Johnny. We'll now give both the girls a chance to explain why they're interested before you make your choice," Ariana explains.
"I think Johnny seems like a very nice guy. I like that he's older so he'll be more wise and conscious with the decisions he makes— I hope," you add, making Johnny chuckle. The sound makes your nerves melt into a comfortable, warm feeling, "I think we'd have a good time. You can tell me all about Chicago and then tell me he story with your tattoos."
"Emily, why did you step forward for Johnny?"
Emily shrugs, playing with the hair she's pulled over her right shoulder, "you're extremely attractive. You seem like a good time and I think being here is about making moves and being bold. I also like Ethan, but we're all here to explore."
"Johnny, the choice is yours," Ariana tell him.
You sink your teeth into the inside of your bottom lip, hoping desperately that he'll choose you, but you keep a calm facade.
He inhales deeply and looks from Emily to you, "it's really flattering to have two beautiful women be interested in me. All you ladies are beautiful, actually. But I don't want to start this summer off by stepping on any toes. Emily, while I'm charmed, I do have to play right by the guys too." The sound of your name from his lips has your knees weakening for a second, "I'd like to couple up with you."
You beam so hard your cheeks hurt, hardly hearing his instruction to join you or the applause from your fellow islanders. You welcome him in your direction with your arms extended forward and excitedly wiggled fingers. His hands are much larger than your own, soft and warm against your skin. You almost sigh dreamily when he presses a kiss to your cheek and stands beside you.
His hand rests casually on your hip as Ariana smiles at the two of you, "another beautiful couple! How do you feel?"
He gives your hip a soft squeeze and you take it as your almost mind melting cue to speak, "I'm happy, excited, ecstatic. I mean, just look at him!"
Johnny laughs, his chest pressing against your back, "I am also very pleased with the outcome. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens between the two of us."
The last guy to walk out, Derek, sends Julie into a fit of nervous giggles. You'd love to say you know what was said, but honestly, you don't. Johnny's hand resting on your hip, nervously rubbing over the strap of your bathing suit bottoms had you distracted.
When the first coupling has concluded, every couple disperses to different areas in the villa. You and Johnny settle onto a yellow couch tucked into a wall and surrounded by greenery with neon lights that spell out "All The Feels."
You grab a pillow and pull it in front of your middle while you smile at him, "hi."
"Hi," he replies with a smile. He's even more handsome up close, a strong jawline, cute, naturally pursed lips, and flawless skin. He relaxes into the cushions and looks at you with pure amusement on his face, "I know I was keeping it cool back there, but I really am so happy to be coupled up with you. You caught my eye as soon as I walked out."
Your breath hitches as his hand comes out and readjusts the twisted strap of your bikini top near your neck, "this is a great color on you."
"Thank you," you breathe out, blood pumping like hot magma through your veins at his well-intentioned touch. You clear your throat, "so what made you want to come on Love Island?"
"Dating is hard. I understand that people want to live their lives and have casual connections, but that's not what I want. I want something serious, and the dating apps seem to fail me in that area. The people I connect with must have a different definition of serious than I do. Don't get me wrong, everyone I spoke to or went out with was great, but not looking for something long term like I was."
"My mom also deserves some blame though," he admits, making you laugh, "she's on my ass about giving her grandkids before she's too old to enjoy it. I'm not rushing to have kids or anything, but it is something I've been thinking about more lately. How about you? Why are you here?"
You lift the pillow to hide your face and groan into it. You peek out shamefully, "promise not to judge me too harshly."
He holds out his pinky, "I swear."
You wrap your pinky around his own and exhale, "I applied as a drunken dare. My friends and I went out for the night, we were complaining about all our failed dates, and how all the guys we went out with gave us the ick or just looking to have sex. We ended up at my best friend's place, watching TV while we played truth or dare for nostalgia's sake when a commercial for castings came on. I was dared to apply, totally not expecting anything of it and then just a few weeks later I was called and interviewed."
He looks shocked and you continue, "but I really am here looking for a genuine connection. I don't think I'm a casual dating kind of girl and that's what the male population in my area seems to be interested in. I know this is a wild environment to find a serious boyfriend, but I'm willing to give it a try."
He holds out a closed fist and you lightly knock your knuckles against it. He looks you right in the eye before promising, "I promise to be a good friend to you first, to be honest about what I'm feeling, to be open, and to give this couple a proper try if this is something you want to pursue. I do want to be clear right now though, I am very attracted to you and I like what I've learned about you so far."
You feel your whole body flush with heat at his confession. You like a man who's direct. "I really appreciate you saying all of that and I agree. I don't think strong couples come from hiding your feelings or dancing around hard conversations. I promise to do the same for you, Johnny," you reply sincerely.
It seems so easy for the afternoon to slip into the evening, hours passed talking to Johnny and learning about each other before you're eventually forced to talk to the rest of the girls and even some of the other guys.
Ethan is the first to pull you after the girls chat, very eager to hear about what Emily said about him. You can hardly get a word in as he's gushing about this explosion he felt between the two of them— his words, "what we have was way more than a spark or a tingle or a zing. It was a whole firework going off! An explosion!" After that, you don't have the heart to tell him that Emily was less than enthusiastic when she told the girls about their conversation. She was looking to getting to know all the guys and you really couldn't fault her for that but Ethan didn't have to know that.
After speaking with Ethan, you pull Isaac for a chat and have a much better conversation. The bar was already pretty low after speaking with Ethan who really didn't even let you get a word out. Isaac is easy going, honest about wanting to get to know all the girls and seems nice. He's handsome, as are the rest of the guys in the villa, but you can't help but compare him to Johnny. Not that you plan on saying that out loud.
Before you know it, it's time to head up and get ready for your first evening in the Love Island villa. You're already half ready, makeup painted on, hair styled while you dig through your clothes to pick your outfit for the night. The girls are all in their own stages of getting ready, but everyone is accounted for which is why it's so odd when you hear a knock on the beauty room door.
"Is everyone decent?" You all hear a muffled voice ask.
"Come in!" Anna calls out after tightening the tie on her robe.
The door opens, drawing all your attention while Johnny, of all people, peeks in to make sure it's safe to enter. Maybe it's a trick of the warm lighting in the room but you swear you see his eyes light up when his gaze falls on you. "Hi," he greets softly as he walks over to you, "I brought you your water since it was pretty warm this afternoon."
"What a gentleman!" Nicki breathes out from her chair.
You take the cup bashfully and thank him. He points at black dress you'd been considering, "is that what you're wearing? I like that one."
"Then maybe I'll wear it," you state nonchalantly with a shrug of your shoulders, but there's a smile fighting it's way onto your face.
"Maybe I'll match you," he replies with a smirk as he begins backing out, "ladies, you all look beautiful. See you all soon."
After that, you're in a rush to get ready and even more self-critical of your looks now that you have a sexy man looking forward to seeing you. The cameras and the millions of eyes watching you don't even cross your mind.
You come down the stairs holding hands with Anna who is wearing heels that look gorgeous but painful. She prances over to Jack who is nice enough to hold out a hand to help her walk. Conversely, you turn to your own partner with a faux look of criticism, but really, you're appreciating the black linen dress shirt that cover his broad chest. You cross your arms and arch a brow as you eye Johnny, "well, well, well… looks like I have a copy cat."
He laughs as he tugs you into his firm chest, the two of you following the rest of the group, "gosh! I'm so sorry I wanted to look coordinated with the prettiest girl here! Sue me!"
You've only known Johnny for a few hours, but he's magnetic. You find yourself wanting to be close to him even when he's poking fun at Isaac over his wrinkled shirt. You like his company so much that you almost consider telling Jack no when he asks to pull you for a chat.
Jack, like the rest of the guys is nice, but your lives are so different. You know it's too early to be thinking about life on the outside but you can't ignore it completely. He goes on and on about the huge city he lives in, the late nights he spends at the office, the club he goes out to every weekend, and the huge group of friends that keep him busy every night of the week. And then he lets how much he pays for rent slip and you have to keep your jaw from dropping. He sounds so happy and in love with his life that you couldn't ever imagine asking him to leave or imagine yourself there. It just wouldn't make sense.
On the other hand, when Derek cuts in to pull you, his day to day life sounds comfortable and lovely. He tells you about his family farm, the cattle he herds daily, the food his mom makes for every ranch hand he works with, and your stomach growls audibly.
You both look at each other, eyes wide with shock before you burst into laughter, "I'm so sorry! The biscuits sound divine!"
"You'll have to come by sometime," he smiles easily, "my mama loves to feed everybody."
You melt into the couch with a dreamy sigh, "she sounds amazing."
As much as you already feel for Johnny, you know it's not logical to be all in on day one. Very rarely do couples on day one actually have an easy ride, so you tell yourself that you'll make an effort to get to know some of the other guys, Isaac and Derek at the very least. However, you do tell yourself that if either Julie or Nicki tell you that they want you to take a step back, you will. No guy would be worth having all the girls turn against you.
You don't mention it to any of the girls. You don't think there's any need to since everything is so new for everybody. Nobody has any loyalties, there are no solid relationships, platonic or romantic.
You definitely don't mention it to Johnny, who you feel the most for. He smiles at you when you walk into the bedroom ready for bed, patting the spot beside him while he holds the covers open for you, "your pajamas are cute."
"I think you just like everything I wear," you tease, sliding beneath the covers.
Johnny slumps down next to you, turning to face you with his head resting on his fist. His bicep is bulging and it pains you not to give the gorgeous muscle the attention it deserves. He boops the tip of your nose, "maybe it's just the model I like."
You cover your face with the blankets and groan with bashfulness, "you're killing me, John."
You fall into a sleepy but comfortable conversation even when the lights turn off. You fall asleep mid-conversation but on your half of the bed, not touching Johnny at all.
The lights flick on and you startle awake before nuzzling into your pillow with a dissatisfied hum. But your pillow is a lot more warm and firm than it was when you fell asleep. Something thick is wrapped around your waist tightly and your legs are intertwined with more than just sheets. You think nothing of it until Julie coos your name from a few beds over, "aww, I love that! You guys are so cute!"
You blink your eyes open with a pout on your face and notice that weirdly, you can see the left edge of the bed where you fell asleep. You lift your head and turn to the right to see that you're sleeping on Johnny.
You jump away from him like he's burnt you and his eyes fly open like someone just poured ice cold water on him.
"I'm so sorry," you apologize groggily, self-consciously adjusting your top, "I must have moved over to your side at some point last night."
He shakes his head as he yawns before running is fingers through his hair, "no worries, I slept really well. Did you?"
"Too well," you pout as you rub your eyes. "I'm like super embarrassed I cuddled you against your will. We've only known each other for a day!"
"And yet I continue to be endeared by you," he smiles tiredly as he gently rubs at the indentations of the sheets left on your arm, "what do you like to eat for breakfast?"
You shrug, "toast and fruit? That should be easy."
"Toast and fruit it is. Coffee too?" He asks as he stands from the bed, stretching his arms above his head and drawing all your sleepy attention to his muscular core on full display. Your breath catches in your throat, you slept on that and you slept well.
"Coffee is good," you nod fervently before almost sprinting out of the room to get ready for your first full day.
Then, slowly, one by one, the girls all start to get breakfast in the beauty room. Jack gifts Anna a breakfast of burnt pancakes and half peeled orange. Derek brings smoothies for all the girls and a plate of fruit for Julie. Ethan brings Emily a gorgeous plate of heart shaped pancakes with strawberries and Isaac brings Nicki a coffee with some yogurt.
None of the girls say anything to you but they're all obviously glancing between you and the door to see if Johnny will be the next to bring you your breakfast. You don't say anything. He doesn't owe you breakfast and you're capable of making it yourself, but you're confused. Why would he ask you what you liked for no reason? But you refuse to be bitter about it or hold it against him. Just because all the other guys brought their partners breakfast, doesn't mean he has to too. And hey, maybe the kitchen was just super busy with all the guys making breakfast.
You make your way downstairs and nearly bump into Johnny on your way to the kitchen. He grabs your forearms before you can fall and hurt yourself. "Hey, I was just about to go get you. I have breakfast ready for us on the loungers upstairs," he smiles down at you.
Your heart skips a beat, "oh, I thought— nevermind. I'd love to have breakfast with you. Thank you."

And then he lets how much he pays for rent slip and you have to keep your jaw from dropping. johnny is a woman killer. im said woman. so excited for the love island au!
(also FOR SOME REASON im looking fwd to doyoungs the most)
I am also said woman… we can both lie here wasting away…
I started writing Doyoung’s part 2 yesterday and he is just… wow! He has sad boy/underdog charm, like he doesn’t even know he’s winning reader over but it’s happening gah! I’m having such a fun time with this series and I’m glad you guys are too🩷🩷
As a major thank you for all the hype and love for the love Island series, and just excitement on my own behalf, I’ve decided to drop a snippet for each upcoming fic at the beginning of the week! Here’s a little snippet of the upcoming Johnny fic! Thank you again for your guys’ support🤍✨✨
Giiiurl I was re-reading jae and sweets' first and I wonder if sweets kissed Todd when She and Jae broke up haha
Oooof anon! Deep pull (I had to search him up ngl lolllll)
Hmm ok, so part of me wants to say yes. While acting out of anger and going to the unofficial competitors of the NXT frat, sure, maybe Sweets and Todd kissed a little before Jaehyun got to the party and watched them dance. She needed a distraction, something light, no strings attached, sure, I could see it happening.
BUTTTTT I lean more toward no. I think Sweets was extremely hurt, heartbroken, and felt used after the break up. I don’t think getting intimate in any way with another guy would have made her feel better nor would she have wanted someone else to feel used because she was hurt :( Todd was just a good time guy and fun to dance with
summary: a disastrous recoupling after Casa Amor leaves you and Haechan single and vulnerable. Unbeknownst to the two of you, your moments during Unseen Bits are making the two of you quite popular among the viewers! There's no way the two of you are leaving!

"Haechan and Dean," Ariana states tensely before stating your name with eerie calmness, "and Vanessa. Since your original partners have chosen to switch and recouple after Casa Amor, you are now left single and vulnerable."
You grip Vanessa's hand tightly, your palms sweaty but you're not particularly dreading going home. You've had a good summer— a great summer even! You haven't found romantic love, but that's fine, you've found friends that you know you'll have for life. That's better than winning you think.
You're mentally preparing your farewell, trying to come up with a speech that will be able to encompass the amazing time you've spent here. You know that when it comes down to a vote, Vanessa will be saved over you. She had a good connection with Jamie before Casa Amor, albeit a bit rocky in the days leading up, but it's more than you can say. You were coupled up with Gabriel in a friendship couple. Before that you were with Jaden, and before him Jamie. Nothing was clicking and you weren't sure anything would. Rather than forcing a connection to stay, you'd prefer to leave on a high note while single if it came down to it.
"But your journeys might not be over yet," Ariana continues after a tense minute of charged silence. "Your future in the villa will be in the hands of the viewers."
You gasp, eyes alight with shock as the fire pit in front of you bursts into whispers and murmurs of surprise.
Ariana smiles knowingly, "I'll be back at the end of the week. Bye, islanders."
"I can't believe this," Vanessa exhales as she pulls you into a tight embrace.
You hug her tightly, laughing in relief of your situation, "safe for a little while at least. You'll be saved, I know it."
"I don't know," she whispers sadly, eyes darting over to her former partner Jamie. Jamie who stands beside his new partner Claire.
The girls surge toward the two of you, hugging you both tightly in a huge group hug. You laugh brightly, wiping away happy tears as you lean into your best friend, Samira.
"If you leave," she whispers passionately, "I'll go with you."
"That makes three of us," you hear a male voice whisper loudly, making you jump in Samira's arms.
There, at eye level, you're met with the face of your most unexpected friend this summer, Haechan. There's a smile on his face that doesn't quite reach his eyes as he extends his hand to you. You take it and let yourself melt into his chest, sniffling softly. He rubs your back comfortingly, "I have a plan for us."
A watery laugh is pulled out of your chest as you pull away from the hug and use your hands to wipe away your tears, "do I even want to know?"
"I'll propose to you. There's no way the viewers will vote out an engaged couple. Think of all the drama we'd bring! And if we say we'll get married at the finale, we have a secure spot. What do you think?"
"I think you're an idiot," you roll your eyes playfully, walking away from the crowded deck around the fire pit in favor of the empty beauty room. The rest of the girls slowly join you, introductions and small talk is made with the new Casa Amor girls.
You take your time, allowing the stress from the night's recoupling to melt from your muscles with every swipe of your makeup wipe against your face and every drag of your comb through your hair.
You're completely wiped out by the end of the night, uncharacteristically quiet as you slip into your bed. Your new bed is comfortable, but not nearly as comfortable as the actual bed you once claimed as your own. That bed is now labeled with Gabriel and Sabrina's name, the couple cuddling beneath the covers.
Dean has already disappeared to his makeshift bed in the Speakeasy, leaving behind his noisy roommate for the night. Haechan is still busy making his rounds to each of the guys for an obnoxious cuddle or an annoying kiss upon their cheeks to get a reaction. He stands in the doorway, looks at you and bids you goodnight with a playful wink and a whispered, "good night, missus."
Unseen Bits Week 1
You breathe out a nervous breath as you sink down from the open sun roof of the Jeep. In the sports car parked beside your own, the guy jumps out and pulls open your door with an excited grin, "hi there."
You take a second to stare at him first, feeling your heart skip a beat at the sight of the man. His skin is sun kissed with his dark hair styled off his forehead to reveal more of his pretty face. Blinking harshly, you take his outstretched hand and step out of the Jeep with a smile. Surely, you could blame it on your nerves, but realistically you know it's because the heels you're wearing are thinner than you're comfortable with. You go down after a single step, falling to your hands and knees with a shout,"Oh, motherfucker!"
Your male companion is laughing gleefully beside you, earning a glare from over your shoulder. He's clutching his sides, tears glistening in his eyes before he finally reaches a hand out to help you up, "actually, I prefer to be called Haechan."
"I stand by my previous title," you bite, tugging your hand out of his own once you're steady on your feet, "you didn't even try to hide your laughter, you menace."
"It was objectively funny, lovely. I would hardly be considered a human if I didn't laugh," Haechan explains as he rushes to catch up to you.
"You know the eggs are less likely to burn if you don't cook them on high," you state from your spot behind the counter, popping a blueberry into your mouth.
"Oh, really?!" Haechan asks sarcastically, "I didn't realize I was in the presence of a professional chef!"
"It doesn't take a professional chef to see that the pan is too hot! No wonder Vanessa never eats the eggs or pancakes you bring her! They're always fucking burnt to a crisp!"
He gasps, pointing the spatula at you, "they're not burnt. I just give them a little color. Brown is beautiful."
You smack the spatula away from your face, "is that your excuse for leaving eggshells in her breakfast as well?"
"Protein!" He screeches defensively as he rounds the corner to get in your face.
You place your hands on his shoulders and shove him away with a laugh, "Get away from me! Focus on the food!"
You groan softly as you lower yourself into a beanbag with the rest of the girls. You kick your sandals away and lower your sunglasses for some subtlety. Though, with the way you and the girls have arranged yourselves for your daily "gossip session," it's quite obvious what you're all really doing. How sneaky do you all really think you are when you're all barely ten feet away from the gym and all facing in said direction?
"Good morning, ladies," Rosie mumbles as she plops into a vibrant pink and orange bean bag.
"A very good morning indeed," Lola drawls lowly before biting her bottom lip.
Vanessa plops onto the grass as Samira snags the last beanbag. "So, any updates for you girls?" Vanessa asks, "sparks? Kisses? Wandering hands?"
"Shh!" Samira is quick to chide, her jaw dropping in shock as she watches her partner, Jaden, do pull ups on the bar. His muscular back on full display, shiny with sweat and sunscreen.
"Oh my goodness," Rosie hums appreciatively while hooking a finger onto a leg of her sunglasses to slide them down the bridge of her nose.
Vanessa whines, a pout on her face as she kicks Rosie's beanbag, "it's not fair! We call this gossip time and we don't even gossip. My partner isn't even over there and it doesn't feel right to ogle your men."
"Please! I insist!" You exclaim as you reach forward to shake her arm, "look at my partner Jamie all you want. It would be a crime to let such a fine specimen go unadmired. Look at his arms!"
The girls all murmur appreciatively, all gazes now fixed on your muscled partner as his biceps bulge with each curl of the weight. You let your eyes drag over each chiseled line of Jamie's body before our eyes naturally trail over to he next guy who is doing curl ups on the bench.
"You know," a grating voice starts to your left, "you guys could not be more obvious about your ogling."
You roll your eyes, pulling you gaze away from the gym to look at the owner of said annoying voice, "you could be nice and join them, give us more to look at. That would be so kind of you, Haechan."
"God, no. Could you imagine how sore I'd be after?" He scoffs, "plus, this is the only time I get to flirt with all their partners without having to worry about them beating me up."
Samira's jaw drops as a shocked laugh escapes her, "you don't flirt with anyone! You stand in the kitchen and drink a full blender's worth of your smoothies until they're done."
"And here I was about to compliment your gorgeous bikinis. Don't get too ahead of yourself, Sami," Haechan chides with a patronizing smirk and a wink.
Week 2
"Do you guys miss Christmas time?" You ask, the straw of your water bottle wedged at the corner of your mouth.
Samira snorts out a laugh, "Christmas is the furthest thing from my mind when I'm on vacation in Fiji surrounded by hot men."
"I miss scrolling on my for you page and watching people bake Christmas desserts in June," you whine dramatically, throwing your legs over Samira's lap.
Haechan, who was napping on the bench on the opposite side of the gazebo jumps up with unexpected energy, "I really can't stay…"
Samira groans, "don't start."
You smile mischievously, setting your water bottle beside you before you jump to your feet, "but, baby, it's cold outside."
"I've got to go away," Haechan continues to sing, tugging you toward him to sway beside him.
"But, baby, it's cold outside," you carry on, taking the water bottle from his hand to use it as a microphone.
The two of you continue through the song with unplanned but somehow very coordinated choreography. You both do a horrible rendition of tap dancing, which becomes ballet, and then crumping that heavily contradict the spirit of the song you're both singing, sending everyone under the gazebo into bouts of hearty laughter. Still, you and Haechan persist, singing in dramatic low tones and shaky falsettos.
"Baby, it's cold outside!" You and Haechan end in unison, though not in harmony as you both catch your breath. Hand in hand, you both bend into deep, twin bows.
With a long pull from the water bottle in your hand you pant tiredly, "I don't think they'll be able to use our performance— royalties."
Samira cackles loudly, kicking her legs out, "please, you two sounded like two choking geese! There's no way it even gets close to copyright!"
"That's rude," Haechan snaps, taking his water bottle from your hand.
It's quiet for a few moments before you hear him ask, "hey, if we both just drank from the same water bottle, we basically kissed, right?"
"In your perverted, wet dreams, Haechan," you scoff as you slide your feet into your sandals.
You make it half way to the stairs before you turn around to glare at Haechan, "I can literally feel you staring at my ass!"
"You have a wedgie!" He counters, before muttering so lowly his microphone is the only thing that hears him, "and a very nice ass."
"I have a question for you," you start, laying on your side to face Haechan in the bed adjacent to yours, your hands fluffing the pillow beneath your head.
Your partner Jaden is still in the bathroom getting ready for bed and the bedroom has only half of its inhabitants. Everyone is the room is milling around, making light conversation, or in Vanessa and Jamie's case, arguing in heated whispers.
"Women and their questions," Haechan sighs exasperatedly, "no, I won't father your children. Though, they would be gorgeous."
"It's much more serious than that," you reply, your face set with a look of worry. You fiddle with your nails, "I was just wondering… if me and Dean were both dangling off a cliff, who would you save?"
"Dean's my best friend," Haechan replies, playing along with your serious act, his brows pinched with faux concern, "but so are you…"
You nod in understanding while Haechan rubs his chin in thought, "but Dean doesn't subject me to random, exaggerated retellings of his favorite chick flicks, so I choose Dean."
"You motherfucker," you growl as you leap from your bed and jump onto his own. Your hands are quick to pull the pillow out from behind his back and hit him over the head with it.
"Please! Someone! Help!" Haechan cries out, his hands coming up to protect himself, "she's killing me!"
"Geez, it's hotter in here than usual, isn't it?" Vanessa asks as she sweets a fluffy eyeshadow brush over your eye.
Rosie takes another chunk of your hair, "I think it's because we're used to being here in the cooler parts of the day, not the middle of the afternoon."
"Yet we all insisted on giving each other makeovers for fun," Vanessa sighs, fanning her neck with her hand.
"Does anyone have their water?" You ask, hissing softly as Rosie accidentally pulls too hard on the curler with your hair wrapped around it.
It turns out that no one does and it's even more obvious that none of the girls are wanting to go downstairs. You sigh and stand as soon as Rosie has clipped a curl at the back of your head, "I got this."
"Don't go downstairs, it's not that bad," Samira calls after you.
But you have no plans of going downstairs, no way. Not when half your head has curls setting for a banging blow out for later tonight. Beauty must come first!
"Haechan!" You yell, waving your hands from the ledge that over looks the pool from the second floor.
Haechan's head pops out of the water, looking every which way until he finally looks up at you. He cups a hand over his eyes to protect them from the sun, "what do you want?!"
"Bring us our waters, please!"
"I am literally in the pool!" He argues, his hands splashing water around him to further prove his point.
"Pookie, please!" You whine, clasping your hands together with a dramatic pout you doubt he can even see.
"Get them yourselves!"
"I'm in the middle of getting my hair blown out!"
He says nothing else, at least not that you can hear, but the water splashes around him with every paddle and step he takes to get out of the pool.
You skip back to the beauty room with a smile, "Haechan is bringing our waters."
"So you just hold the camera here at this angle and just keep taking pictures through every move, got it?" You confirm as you gently guide Haechan's hands to the perfect angle.
"Why do I have to do this again?"
"Because with the way it's looking for me, I might leave before I find love. The very least I can leave with are sexy pics to post so I can pull, duh," you explain as you situate yourself into the first pose, "ok, start taking pictures now."
You move fluidly from pose to pose. First, arching your back on all fours with your hair mussed. Then, you move onto your knees, you back to Haechan as you look at him from over your shoulder, your fingers hooked into the thin straps of your bikini bottoms to tug the skimp scrap up even further up your curves.
"How are they looking?" You ask as you maneuver into a seated position with your knees bent and back curved up to push your chest out.
"Bitch, you look hot as fuck. Are you sure you don't want to couple up with me? I'll sneak us into the hideaway," Haechan breathes out, his eyes locked on the screen of your phone as he swipes through the pictures.
"Hyuck!" You whine petulantly, pushing his shoulder lightly, "be serious!"
"I am being serious! Look at this one," he passes your phone back to you, showing you a picture, "your boobs look amazing! I would swipe right. Hey girl, are you dtf? That would be my pick up line."
Week 3- casa week- casa starts day 16
You sigh with frustration as you stand under the hot stream of water, your fingers scrubbing pink slime from your hair for the nth minute. You hate challenge days. They're always something over the top and never before imagined by the average person. Who in their right and healthy mind would ever have people dive into a pool full of slime to dig for a key to get their partner free from a fake lock? And why did you have to be the one to dig through the slime?
If you'd won the countless rounds of rock, paper, scissors among the girls, then the slime would have been much easier to wash out. It was dried and crusted in all our nooks and crannies, the water running pink at your feet even after five minutes beneath the shower head.
You reach for your shampoo, squeezing a hefty amount into your palm before lathering it into your hair. You massage and rub the soap through every strand, rubbing it until suds.
You exhale in relief, your eyes shut as you tilt your head back to begin to wash out your first round of shampoo. You don't hear the door open over the sound of the water, the uncharacteristic quiet of the villa brings you peace.
That is of course until you hear a surprising, "hey."
Your eyes snap open in shock, just in time to see the glass door of your shower opening to reveal Haechan, "your shampoo smells really good."
You screech at the top of your lungs, using both your hands to preserve your modesty as you back yourself into the corner of the shower. "Get out! Get out! Get out!" You scream shrilly.
Haechan slams the door shut, cheeks bright red with embarrassment, apologies tumbling past his lips as you breathe heavily, trying to catch your breath and slow your heartbeat. But of course, the villa has a way of providing more drama than anyone could ever need.
Everyone comes racing into the bathroom, no care for how small or cramped the space becomes with 10 bodies.
"What?! What's happening?" Jamie asks breathlessly, his buttoned up shirt open and hanging off one shoulder.
You point a finger at Haechan with anger, thankful that the frosted glass shows nothing to your housemates, "why the fuck would you open my shower?!"
"You didn't hear me when I complimented your shampoo the first time!" He defends.
Samira's jaw drops, "you couldn't tell her when she wasn't naked and showering?"
"I don't think sometimes! We all know that!"
Still pressed into the corner of the shower you scoff, "none of you do!" Everyone's gaze turns to you with offense written clear on their features, "I am still naked and showering and you're all standing in the bathroom just hanging out now!"
Murmurs of agreement break out, everyone quickly filing out of the bathroom to leave you to finish your shower. All except Haechan, who presses his face to the glass with a pitiful frown, "Pookie, forgive me."
"Donghyuck, you're an idiot," you roll your eyes, waving him away.
Haechan waves at you sadly, a pout on his face as he shuffles toward the door, "your idiot?"
"Yes, yes," you sigh, returning to the stream of water, "the other half of my brain cell. Now, go!"
"What's up YouTube!" Dean shouts at his phone with a peace sign thrown up, "We're here after a recoupling and unfortunately our boy Eli was sent packing. Samira, how do you feel being the girl to send him to his fate?"
The camera is turned onto Samira who rolls her eyes as she takes another bite of her ice cream cone, "Eli was very sweet and he'll be missed in the villa. It was very tough decision but everyone knows that Haechan's crying would have kept everyone awake for days if his beloved Dean left. Everyone should be thanking me."
Dean laughs, focusing the camera back on himself for just a second, "speaking of my best friend." The camera turns to focus on Haechan, who is to no one's surprise, with you, "there he is."
You and Haechan are dancing, your backside pressed to his front as you rock and sway side to side with an ice cream bar between your lips. Behind you, Haechan holds your waist with one hand, the other holding an ice cream cone, bare of any ice cream as his voice rings out, "Daddy's home! Home for me! And I know you've been waiting for this lovin' all day!"
The phone shakes as Dean laughs loudly, overpowering the sound of Haechan's singing. Dean zooms in on Rosie across the kitchen who watches on with an amused smile, "Rose! Get your boy!"
"They tire each other out! They need their play time," Rosie replies, ending her statement with her tongue stuck out at the camera.
The camera focuses back on you and Haechan who are now doing the snake in opposite directions. Haechan takes a large bite out of his cone before singing with his mouth full, "So all my ladies say!"
"Hey, hey, hey, daddy!" You reply, turning on your heel to clap your hands as if you were hyping up a crowd.
Vanessa joins you and Haechan, the three of you singing in unison, "hey, hey, hey, daddy!"
The atmosphere feels light and happy, no one has the choice but to join in to keep the spirits high. The camera pans around the kitchen, catching everyone clapping, dancing along, and chanting, "Hey, hey, hey, daddy!
Two days later, you find yourself standing in the open kitchen. The day has proved to be gloomy and rainy, weirdly, reflecting the bleak mood of you all for the last two days. You've all grown so close, a tight knit family so emotionally dependent on each other that one of you leaving would leave the villa in a fit of depression for a few days, especially losing one of you original Islanders.
In front of you, the rest of your fellow islanders watch on as Ariana struts toward you all, looking gorgeous as always. "Hello, islanders," she greets with a calm smile, much the opposite of everyone's grim mood.
"Well, the public have been voting," she explains, "the viewers were given the option of sending one boy and one girl on dates with two brand new bombshells."
Gasps sound out, eyes wide, and others shushing loudly to discover the fate of those not chosen for dates. Ariana keeps her poise, "Vanessa, the public have voted for you to go on a date with new bombshell Luke. Dean, you were voted to go on a date with new bombshell Ana."
Your heart drops to your stomach as Samira sobs loudly, the sound barely muffled by her hand. You gulp, your hand helplessly squeezing Vanessa's as you await your fate, anticipating the dreaded words: "you've been dumped from the villa."
You keep your eyes locked on Samira's, her eyes brimming with tears as she leans into her partner, Eren's, shoulder. It's easy enough to keep yourself from bursting into tears when you know you'll have to comfort her right after the news is dropped and convince her to stay.
It comes as a shock when you hear your name stated, drawing your attention back to Ariana, "the public also had the opportunity to vote for two single islanders they wanted to be in a couple." Her lips quirk into a knowing smile, "as a result, the two of you are officially coupled up and therefore safe from any dumpings this week. You will also be joining Vanessa and Dean on a date this afternoon."
"I'll see you all very soon," she concludes, walking away from you all just as both Vanessa and Dean's phones ding loudly with texts.
Everything around you is muffled chaos. Everyone leaps up from their seats on the couch rushing you all relieved embraces and delighted exclamations. Samira squeezes you in her arms tightly, repeating her words of elation right in your ear.
Your gaze is torn from the floor, your gaze guided toward familiar pools of amber and oak with warm and gentle hands on your cheeks. Haechan's lips are moving, but you can't for the life of you hear what he's saying over the pounding of your heart and rush of blood in your ears. "What the hell just happened?" You breathe out.

Week 3
You sigh with frustration as you stand under the hot stream of water, your fingers scrubbing pink slime from your hair for the nth minute. You hate challenge days. They're always something over the top and never before imagined by the average person. Who in their right and healthy mind would ever have people dive into a pool full of slime to dig for a key to get their partner free from a fake lock? And why did you have to be the one to dig through the slime?
If you'd won the countless rounds of rock, paper, scissors among the girls, then the slime would have been much easier to wash out. It was dried and crusted in all your nooks and crannies, the water running pink at your feet even after five minutes beneath the shower head.
"What the hell just happened?" You breathe out.
a/n: this is just the beginning of their madness woohoo! Still to come: their date, a kiss, some sparks, and ~love~!!!! feedback is encouraged and appreciated <3

"Ladies! I heard you all called for a bombshell!" A deep voice calls out from the dock.
Immediately you gasp, jumping up from the couch as you stride toward the voice. "A new guy?!" Angie screeches with delight as she races past you, sandals flying off her feet in her hurry to get to the owner of the new voice.
"A new guy?" Jake echoes somewhere behind you, sounding much less excited than Angie.
Four days in the villa and you suspect the viewers must be thinking you've all been completely removed from all civilization and already going insane as you all rush toward the new, tanned hunk. He stands tall with a handsome grin as he greets all of you. It's impossible to keep your eyes off the oily sheen over his well-built chest as he sits at the center of the fire pit bench, but you try nonetheless.
"Tell us about yourself," Noah grins.
"I'm Carlos. I'm 28 years old and from California," he provides, completely at ease with everyone's attention on him.
You remember walking into the villa with your heart racing and your palms sweating. You'd held Zoe's hand so tight as you both walked in that she admitted to you the next day that it was still slightly sore.
And yet, all that nervousness melted into a calming warmth when your eyes laid on Doyoung for the first time. He was tall, totally gorgeous, and had the most breathtaking smile you had ever seen. There was no other choice in your mind, this man was going to be yours by the end of the summer. Maybe even earlier if everything worked out.
He had nervously introduced himself to all the girls, answering every question the host, Ariana, asked him. His answers were short, hidden behind awkward laughter and bashful neck rubbing, but it worked for you. You were endeared by his timidity and you were hopeful for a potential future with him. Apparently, you were the only girl to think so as you were the only girl who stepped forward to couple up with him. What a lucky match!
Maybe if you'd have just had the chance to have a real conversation with him before coupling up with him… because as it turned out, Doyoung was just as shy one on one as he was in front of a group. At least, with you he was.
You had obviously pulled him for a private conversation once the first coupling was complete. You sat close enough to see the bright pink stained across his cheeks and started the conversation by asking, "so, Doyoung, tell me about your life back home."
"I have a family," he answers simply, "in Korea."
You nod encouragingly, extending your hand to begin to drag your manicured nail over the length of his forearm flirtatiously, "I remember you saying that. Do you have any siblings?"
"Yes."
"Oh how nice, I do too. Do you have brothers or sisters? Both?" You ask hopefully.
Doyoung lets out a shaky breath, "a brother."
"Is he younger or older than you?" You try again, masking how thrown off by his short answers you are.
"He's older," Doyoung answers, his eyes nervously darting to whatever is behind you.
Right, so clearly he isn't into you if he can't even look at you. He's probably eyeing up the girls around the villa, you think to yourself. You withdraw your touch and exhale through your nose before painting on a polite smile despite feeling defeated, "I need to refill my water bottle and catch up with the girls."
"She touched my arm and my brain short circuited. She stole my ability to speak with the touch of one finger alone," Doyoung confesses openly to the camera.
He ruffles his fingers through his hair and laughs dishearteningly, "honestly, she's just the most gorgeous woman I've ever seen and she chose me! I still can't believe it. I just need to learn to keep my cool around her."
He exhales a long sigh and looks into the lens with reddened cheeks, "And it totally didn't help that she was practically half naked in her bikini. I guess I'll have to get used to that… Shit— I hope my mom doesn't watch that."
The conversation all the girls are having with Carlos under the gazebo now, three days later, could not be more different. Carlos is clearly at ease and alert, listening to every single thing all the girls are saying, asking questions, just being an all around willing conversation participant.
"So remind me again who the couples are," Carlos asks.
Amelia speaks up, a manicured finger pointing at each of the guys through her explanation, "I'm coupled up with Noah, Angie and Peter are coupled up, Zoe and Jake are a couple, and Carmen and Theo. Oh! And Doyoung is the one half-hidden in the pantry, he's coupled up with this beauty beside me."
You laugh as she bumps your shoulder, Carlos turns his gaze to you with an arched brow, "how's that going?"
You exhale and paint on a tight smile, "he's nice… it's just slow moving."
"Very slow," Carmen mumbles under her breath, earning a shoulder bump from you.
Carlos' face shows his amusement clear as day, "what does that mean?"
You groan, dragging your hands down your face in frustration, "Doyoung is nice. He is so nice, but he doesn't talk! I ask him questions to get to know him and he hardly says more than ten words at a time! And it's just me! According to everyone else, he is capable of having a normal conversation. I think he just doesn't like me."
"Oh, that's definitely not what I s—" Carlos begins before Theo comes running over to interrupt.
"Carlos! Come join us in the kitchen, bro," Theo gets out through panting breaths.
Carlos nods, adjusting his shorts as he stands,"I'll talk to you lovely ladies later." You can only watch on with a displeased pout as the two men walk away. Stupid production team.
Doyoung wrings his hands together nervously in the kitchen, heart racing with anxiety as Carlos approaches the group. Doyoung hardly waits for Carlos to have a seat before he's spitting out, "are you going to steal my partner?"
Jake chokes on a chip as he laughs, "Jesus! Let the guy at least sit down, Doyoung!"
Carlos laughs along with the rest of the guys, doing absolutely nothing to quell the anxiety crawling it's way up Doyoung's throat. Carlos finally looks at Doyoung and the smile drops from his face sympathetically. Doyoung is being dead serious, so much so that he looks like he's going to be sick all over the counter. Carlos holds his hands up, "I've been watching, bro. Trust me, I have no intention of stepping on the guy who admitted to being in love on night one."
Doyoung's cheeks go pink at the memory. Just three nights ago he's stumbled into the bedroom with all the guys, curled over and clutched his chest, "God, I think I've fallen in love!"
It's the very same reenactment that Jake and Noah are performing right beside him extremely dramatically. Doyoung laughs along sarcastically, finding the very slightest bit of humor in the situation, but he can't do much else. If all goes well, he'll be living with these guys for two months. He doesn't want to have the reputation of being the stick in the mud and he knows the guys don't have I'll intentions. He can agree that he was definitely… excited the night he'd made that announcement.
"I know that's a super crazy thing to say after only knowing her for a few hours, but she's something out of a dream," Doyoung explains to the camera before chuckling to himself, "okay, I was being totally dramatic. Trust me, I'm not crazy or trying to love bomb anyone. I'm just totally and completely enamored by her."
"I know I'm getting my karma in spades with the idiots I'm living with poking fun at me all the time," staring at the corner of the confession room, "I don't really have much of a choice about who I confide in here. At the very least, I know the guys are all living a very similar story right now so someday they'll all have their own break downs for me to imitate."
"Can I give you some insight?" Carlos offers to Doyoung, stealing a chip from Peter's bowl. Doyoung nods eagerly and Carlos winces softly as he slumps against the back of the chair, "she thinks you don't like her."
Doyoung's jaw drops, unable to find any words at the revelation. The air has been completely stolen from his lungs. How could you possibly think that when he's half way to being in love with you after four days?! Surely, this is another joke. Carlos is lying to get the upper hand and get in his head!
"How the hell is that even possible if all he does is gush about her unprompted?" Peter asks with his face screwed up in confusion.
"Well," the bombshell draws out, "according to her, you don't like to talk a whole lot. She said you're able to carry on conversations with everyone else in the villa, but your conversations with her are awkward. Maybe she thinks you prefer one of the other girls."
"I don't care about them!" Doyoung snaps immediately, earning side eyes from the guys and even drawing the attention from the girls lounging across the lawn. "Sorry," Doyoung sheepishly apologizes, "I just— I clam up around her. I forget how to talk, how to breathe, and humans are biologically engineered to breathe! She steals my breath away."
"That was so romantic bro," Noah nods with slow appreciation.
"So then what's the plan?" Theo asks, propping his hip against the counter.
"I have to get out of my head, show her how much I like her, show her that she's the only girl for me," Doyoung states, his confidence growing with every word.
He repeats that to himself for the whole day until your nightly gathering and his mind goes absolutely blank as you descend the stairs hand in hand with Angie. You look like you're coming down from heaven to bless him with your presence, an absolute angel.
You approach him with a glossy smile and hope in your eyes. You're always hopeful that your next interaction with Doyoung will be better than the last.
"Beautiful," Doyoung mumbles lowly.
"What was that?" You ask, leaning in to give him a full inhalation of your addicting perfume.
"N-nothing," he stammers in reply.
The hopeful look in your eyes dims and his heart squeezes as you dejectedly respond with a soft, "oh, okay."
For the rest of the night, he's in his head, trying to give himself silent pep talks so he can show you just how much he likes you. He breathes in deeply, downing the last of his wine before he starts across the table confidently.
Then, like an ice cold glass of water has been poured in his face, he hears you say, "Carlos, can I pull you for a chat?"
Doyoung just watches on as you and Carlos wander over to the swing bench. He's at least a little grateful it's happening in his line of sight and not upstairs where the two of you could get up to whatever your hearts desired.
He's hardly subtle about looking at you and Carlos, drawn into conversation by Amelia shaking his shoulder harshly, "hello? We're asking you what your least favorite food is. Or are we distracting you from the show?"
"Yeah, actually if you could all keep it down so I can listen," he jokes before sighing and resting his elbows against the table, "I absolutely abhor cucumbers."
Carmen reaches across the table and places a hand on Doyoung's shoulder, "it's just a harmless chat."
"Does she like him?" Doyoung asks, looking Carmen in the eye.
"This is their first one on one conversation, it's impossible to say. The girls all think he's handsome though, but I doubt anyone would disagree," she replies casually.
His fingers slide into his hair with stress, "so they're just going to run off into the sunset with their beautiful faces and leave me in the dust! Great!"
"Or you could, you know, carry on a normal conversation with her like you do with us," Zoe suggests with clear sarcasm, "just a thought."
Doyoung keeps his gaze locked on his nails, perched nervously on the cushion of the confessional chair. "I know Zoe is right. Carlos was too about just speaking to her like she's a normal human being, but I just can't. I can't get out of my head," Doyoung mumbles disappointingly.
"It's not her fault by any means and it's certainly too early for me to sit here wallowing about a missed connection when I haven't even put my best foot forward yet, but I guess I'm more frustrated with myself. I want her to know how much I like her, I want her to feel the connection I feel— I just need to make it clear."
He rests one elbow on his knee and mulls over his thoughts before speaking to the camera again, "I have a plan."
You can't have been talking to Carlos for more than 15 minutes before Doyoung makes his way over and smiles brightly to hide his nerves, "sorry Carlos, but I'd love to steal her for a chat."
"No worries," Carlos reassures, giving you a pat on the hand, "it was nice talking to you."
You wave goodbye and turn your attention to Doyoung, "where should we go?"
"Say less?" Doyoung suggests, referring to the area just off the dock with lush greenery and a small fire pit.
You nod, "lead the way."
Behind you, your fellow Islanders grow quiet the further you walk away from them. It takes less than a minute for you to feel the warmth of the fire and find a comfortable position with your legs folded beside you on the couch that encircles the pit. "So," you start, sipping your wine, "what's up?"
"I thought it would be nice for us to get to know each other. You know, seeing as we're coupled up and all that," Doyoung gets out steadily.
You hide your surprise around the rim of your cup and clear your throat softly, "what do you want to know then?"
"What do you like to do in your free time?"
"I try to sneak in naps in the shade," you answer sheepishly.
Doyoung laughs, his head thrown back with utter glee, "at home. I meant what you like to do in your free time at home."
"Oh god! This place is rotting my brain!" You laugh along brightly. His heart skips a beat at the sound but his focus remains steadfast as you continue, "I like reading on my couch with a warm drink and no responsibilities. It's my favorite way to spend my free time. Well, that or lazing on my couch and watching the same shows over and over again."
He's been extremely lucky to carry on a conversation as smooth as this for this long because his plan was to simply avoid eye contact. Actually, it was to avoid looking at you all together. That is, until you laughed and he couldn't deny himself of the simple pleasure of seeing you happy. His breath catches and he feels his brain begin to malfunction.
"Yeah, I like reading too. I've been doing it my whole life. Well, since I was about four years old or so. My parents said I was quick to pick up on it and I've just been doing it ever since. I love books, spend about an hour a week at least walking around the bookstore on the corner of the block where I work. It's such a privilege, being able to read…" he trails off as if finally hearing his own nervous rambling.
You blink once, then twice before a polite smile comes across your features and you breathe out a tense breath, "look, Doyoung, I really don't want to be rude but I really need to get this off my chest."
He nods nervously as you adjust your position on the couch. Now looking more reserved and like you're trying to create an emotional distance between you and your current partner. Doyoung's heart drops into his stomach as you start apprehensively, your eyes locked on the flames in the pit, "I understand that the summer is just beginning and we haven't known each other long, but I don't think you like me. I was talking to the girls earlier and trying to get some insight on us and you, but the Doyoung I talk to isn't the one that they know. I don't want you to force anything and you're able to talk to the other girls with more ease. So by all means, don't let me hold you back. You're a good guy. I want you to be happy."
You nod decisively, lifting your eyes from flames to meet his own eyes, looking far more somber than he'd ever like to see you, "we can stay coupled up until you find someone who's better suited to you."
You stand and smile at him softly, extending your hand, "friends?"
He blinks rapidly, having lost the ability to speak with the thick knot in his throat. His hand is unexpectedly cold against your own, but his fingers soft, his touch gentle.
Your breath catches in your throat, "friends it is."
Doyoung hides his face with his hands, "I'm so disappointed with myself."
He inhales deeply, his exhale coming out shaky as he drops his hands to reveal his red-rimmed eyes, "I should have told her how she made me feel. I should have told her that just looking at her makes me lose half the function of my brain, she makes me forget how to breathe, I'm not myself around her. I should have told her that all I can do is think about her, talk about her, dream of her."
"I swear I'm not crazy," he laughs bitterly as his hand quickly wipes a tear, "I've heard my parents love story since I was a kid. My parents saw each other on their commute home from work on the same train. My dad always said it was love at first sight. That he fell in love with the way my mom radiated warmth even though she was beat after a long day. They spoke for the first time the next time they saw each other, missed their stops, and I-I've always wanted a story like that."
He sniffles, "I thought I had it. I saw her standing on that heart the first day and my heart skipped a beat. I guess I got ahead of myself and got too hopeful."
Leaning back against the comfortable chair of the confessional, you sigh, "I'm not completely done talking to Doyoung. I haven't written him off at all. Lots of people become friends then lovers, don't they?"
"It's one of my favorite tropes, so I'm not too upset," you smile at the camera, your nail trapped between your teeth before you shrug casually.
a/n: obviously this isn't the end hehehe! We still have challenges, lots of feelings, and yeah, some angst to look forward to. Not to worry! Doyoung will get his girl! feedback is encouraged and appreciated <3

Lmaoooo! Sweets is the worst!
Ok, so the way I envision it happening is that Jae has popped into the bathroom, to do his business ofc, and we all know that Sweets can't be left unattended for too long.
Jaehyun sits on the toilet, passing time on his phone when suddenly the door swings open and bangs against the wall loudly, "Swee- what?!"
Behind the camera, you don't dare to look at him, knowing that if you do, you'll completely lose it. Instead, you keep your eyes on the screen of your phone and your voice calm, "I don't know how many of you have ever been in a frat house bathroom before, but this is one of them."
You pan the camera over to the shower, noting how it could do with a cleaner upgrade. Slowly you show the sink, sounding like a realtor trying to sell a house all the while your boyfriend sits on the toilet with his mouth hanging open in confusion.
"And this is the toilet area. As you can see, they have a lovely sign that asks guests not to do coke in the bathroom and right beside it, a gorgeous drawing done by the frat's very own Yuta Nakamoto."
"Sweetheart..." Jaehyun whispers.
"Shhhh! I'm doing a tour," you chide, pointing at the drawing of two cartoon characters smoking a joint.
Jaehyun stares at you with his brows furrowed, "I'm on the toilet! My bare ass and dick are out!"
"You're not even in frame!" You lie, his forehead taking up half the sceen. Probably, even more than half.
You step back over to the sink, noting the various toothbrushes, tooth pastes, and hygiene products. Finally, you walk back to point the camera right in Jaehyun's face, "let this be a lesson to get that damn lock fixed, Jae!"
I just wanted to say I love reading your works and think you would do this justice if you havent done so yet. But ai think it would be fun to have all the nct frat bro girlfriends call when they have their frat meeting and see who answers back first.

"Okay, everyone ready?" Princess asks, a mischievous smile spread across her lips as she looks at all the screens opened around her. The girls all nod, matching looks of cheekiness on their faces.
Sunday evenings when the guys of Nu Chi Theta are stuck in chapter meetings always result in some form of boredom for their girlfriends. I mean, come on! Three whole hours without attention?! And their banned from the house?! It's downright cruelty!
Tonight, though, is not a night of boredom. The girls have all gathered at Bee's apartment for a night of fun, a few drinks, and of course, pranks when Sweetheart and Gomi are present.
The time shows now that the meeting should be done, a few extra minutes for the guys to linger and relax are taken into account. Their freedom is confirmed with the text that is sent to Bug after every meeting.
"Waiting just another minute..." Sunshine drawls out, eyes fixed on the time at the corner of her screen for the minutes to change.
"Ok! Go!" Gomi exclaims and immediately all the girls are hitting call on their boyfriend's contacts.
"One ring then hang up," Sweetheart rushes out just before a single tone rings out though the circle and the calls are ended.
"Now we wait to see who's going to be in the doghouse," Princess smirks slyly with a slow nod.
Wifey is the first to get a call back from Jeno, a loving smile on her face as she presses her phone to her ear. Bug and Bee get their calls in return within just a few seconds of each other. Princess gets hers after. Then, Sunshine who receives a flurry of apologies as Doyoung explains he was stuck discussing something to one of the newest brothers.
Half an hour passes, then a full hour and Sweets and Gomi have yet to receive a call. Sweets glares at phone with her arms crossed, huffing angrily as if her fit will make a call come through.
Somehow, it does. Her phone screen lights up and an ecstatic smile replaces her frown in an instant. "Baby!" She greets happily, "where have you been?"
Gomi stands up from the couch with a sharp exhale as she walks toward the door, sliding her shoes on as she grumbles under her breath.
"You're leaving?" Bee calls after her.
"Yup!" Bee grins, "I have to go kill my boyfriend! See you ladies later!"
