You could feel a headache sneaking up on you in the dark bar. After two shots and three beers, your eyes rolled as you noticed another man walk up to you.
You've shot down 4 now. When are they gonna get the idea? You just wanted to get drunk, enjoy your night, then go home and smoke. By yourself. But these fuckin' guys wouldn't give up.
"Hey, baby. You here alone?" He called, coming up next to you.
"Yes, and that was by choice. Leave me alone." You replied.
"You seem like you need something a little stronger than beer." He chuckled, pointing at your beer and whistling at the bartender, "Pour her a shot of something strong." He threw a few bucks on the bar counter in his direction.
The bartender poured some vodka and you shook your head.
"I'm drunk enough. Don't waste your money." You said, catching the shot the bartender pushed your way and sliding it towards the man you didn't even care to look over at.
"Don't be like that." He smirked and moved to sit next to you, "I can help you loosen up."
You looked him up and down in his seat. "No."
He just moved past it and grabbed at your unwanted shot and slid it back in your direction. You looked at the shot glass and back at the man with an annoyed expression on your face. Annoyance filled you and you acted before thinking. You grabbed the shot glass full of warm liquid and splashed it into his lap, and he cursed angrily. He jumped out of his seat and grabbed the beer in your hand and splashed it on to the floor.
"Hey, man, keep your hands off of her or i'll call the cops."
"Fuck you, what are they gonna do?" You spun around when the man grabbed your wrist,
"Get the fuck off of me!" You yelled.
The bartender was already making the call as the man got in your face.
"You owe me some fuckin' money, little lady." He spat
"And you owe me a walk off a cliff, you slimy piece of shit." You told him as you snatched your wrist out of his hand.
You began to walk towards the exit to leave the situation, but he blocked you before you could make it out of the door. He pushed on your shoulder to try to intimidate you, but you swung around and punched him in the face, making his head swing to the side. The alcohol in your system made your head spin, and you felt drunker now that you were standing up.
"I'll fuck you up, okay?" Your words slightly slurred, "Fuck off." You told him, trying to intimidate him into leaving you alone.
David was having a nice and quiet night before he got the call through the police radio. He knew there was a dispute at the bar - probably just some two idiots disagreeing on the most recent football game.
But when he saw you and some other guy yelling at each other and being dragged apart by other patrons, he immediately went into protective mode. A beer bottle flew out of your hands and into the mans shirt, and glass shattered all over him.
"Hey, woah! Whats the issue here?" He announced himself, getting in between the two of you and flashing his badge.
"Tell this asshole to leave me alone!" You emphasized, pointing at the dipshit across from you.
The man kept trying to come at you and his friends repeatedly tried to calm him down, pushing him back by the shoulders. There was a bartender who stepped up and gave Loki a statement, explaining the situation as some lady in the bar brought you to a chair to sit and calm you down.
After David took yours and the other man's statements, he told the man to go home and he took you in the passenger's seat of his car. He should've given you some kind of penalty, but he wasn't even going to fill out a report on this. If anyone asked, it was a dispute between two people who had too much to drink.
He knew it was more than that by your mood and by what the bartender told him. It was a small town, but that didn't mean there weren't some assholes here.
The car ride between you and David was awkward. The last time he'd seen you, neither of you did much talking and most of the time was spent moaning and grunting. Actually, you never did much talking. You and David hooked up and he left and that was it.
David wasn't the talking type, anyway.
"Did he hurt you?" He asked suddenly, his voice smooth and low.
It caught you by surprise and you whipped your head towards his direction. He looked pretty when you were drunk. You wanted to kiss him right now.
"Um." You shook your head, trying to clear your thoughts and remember what happened earlier. "No. Well. He grabbed me a little, I've got beer all over me. And now I'm gonna be afraid of every man who approaches me for the next few months because of him, but physically? No. He didn't." You replied, rolling your eyes at the man from earlier. "I should've just accepted the drink and kept my mouth shut."
"Hey." David looked over briefly. "That guy was a dick. Don't say that. He should be able to take 'no' for an answer. Don't do that to yourself."
"I guess so." You halfheartedly agreed. "Am I in trouble?" You asked, wondering what you were getting into.
David let silence hang between you two for a few seconds. He wasn't gonna get you in trouble and put more on your record because of some man who didn't know how to leave you alone.
You pulled up to the front of your house, the last place you were expecting. You looked over at David as he turned the key to turn off his car and got out of the vehicle. He came to your side and opened the door.
"Can you stand?" He asked you.
You grabbed your phone that was in your lap and lifted yourself up. Your knees wobbled and you stumbled forward. David helped you by holding your shoulders. He held out a hand so you could balance yourself as you two walked inside. Rain was sprinkling and it was dark out.
Your key was in the pocket of the jeans you had on and you reached in for them to unlock the door. David had his arms around you and you leaned against him as you both stepped into your house. He sat you down on the couch in your living room and left you there. Your eyelids felt heavy and suddenly you felt sleepy. You would've fallen asleep if David didn't come back with some water. You desperately reached for the water and gulped it down. David let out a small chuckle and sat down next to you. You set down the glass of water and David's hands brought up the end of your shirt that was soaked with beer. He brought it over your head and set it in his lap. You couldn't help but lean forward and kiss him. He could taste the water and alcohol from earlier on your lips, but he didn't mind. You had the sweetest lips he's ever kissed.
David pulled back, "This isn't why I brought you home."
"Then, why did you?" You asked, a bit confused.
"I wanted to make sure you were okay." He told you, brushing off something on your cheek with his finger.
"I thought you didn't like being around me. You said you despise me." You reminded him.
He shook his head, "I was just lying to myself."
"Thank you for bringing me home." You said genuinely.
He nodded his head at you and blinked. David got up to move around again. You felt unexpectedly comfortable with David rummaging through your house. You had weed and other usually embarrassing things laying around, but you didn't mind David coming across them.
You heard water in your bathroom start and David came back to the living room.
"Can I take off your clothes?" He asked.
"I thought you didn't come here for that." You joke and smirked down at him.
He just looked up at you with expectation in his eyes and you moved to take off your jeans and your under garments. David left to throw them in the washer, and came back for you. He left a hand out for you to grab and you obliged, letting him lead you into the bathroom.
Your bathtub was filling with bubbly water and David held you next to him to make sure you didn't fall over. He reached into the tub to turn the faucet, stopping the water. David brought you next to the tub and helped you in. He grabbed the cup he got from your kitchen and used it to pour water on your body and your hair. You tilted your head back and closed your eyes so he could get the top of your head.
David grabbed the body wash you had and squeezed some onto a hand cloth he found. His hands rubbed the material against you and spread suds around your chest.
He thought you were very beautiful. He loved every stretch mark and curve. He didn't think he deserved such a goddess. The soap cleaned your skin and got the nasty beer smell off of you. You leaned your head back and you felt it hit David's shoulder. You snuck a kiss under his jawline, making him pull back jokingly and smile at you.
"No funny stuff. I'm on the clock." He told you, kissing your nose.
David's chest fluttered when he kissed your nose and you closed your eyes and smiled. You let him scrub you down and rinse you off. When he squeezed shampoo and conditioner into his hands and scratched it into your scalp, he did it in a gentle manner. You almost fell asleep with how soft he was being. No one had taken care of you like this in a long time. You and David were just fuck buddies. He was the last person you expected this from.
But you weren't complaining.
You closed your eyes as he rinsed out the conditioner from your hair.
"What's your favorite color?"
He laughed, "Why do you wanna know that?"
"Don't laugh at me." You blushed. "I just wanna know about you."
Interaction like this was nice. He only interacted with coworkers or people he helped on the job. You were the closest he was to anyone and you barely knew him. Regardless, the relationship made him feel more human.
"Gray." He told you. "It's relaxing."
"I like gray." You smiled at him.
A few more moments passed until you felt David get up behind you. A towel covered your head and David dried your hair. You two had never been so intimate with each other.
After he dried your hair, he dried your body. He patted you down with the towel and he helped you stand over the sink as you brushed your teeth. Not that you needed much help now. The bath and David's actions sobered you up quick.
It was midnight when David finally got you to bed. He organized the pillows behind you so you could lay comfortably. When you laid down, he wrapped the blankets around you and tucked them around your body. You were snug as a bug and you hadn't been this relaxed in months.
"I have to go soon. I've got 3 more hours for my shift." He told you, disappointed that he couldn't crawl into bed with you and fall asleep.
"Can you come back tomorrow sometime?" You asked him, playing with his fingers.
"Yeah. I'll stop by and check on you." He told you.
His eyes scanned your lips and then quickly brought themselves back up to your eyes. You lifted yourself up and pecked him on the lips quickly.
"Thanks for taking care of me." You told him, closing your eyes as he stroked your hair.
Sleep hit you nice and fast and the last thing you heard was, "Goodnight, Y/N."
