@gyllenhive
Being in my 20s Iâve wondered plenty of times when it became legal for me to do most of the things Iâve done in my adult life like: have a credit card and bank account in my name, live with my partner out of wedlock, buy my own car, take out my own loans, etc. And I never considered so many of the rights I have werenât available to my great-grandmother.
And then, honestly, I never even considered those things could be taken from me until the Handmaidâs Tale came out and the entire premise of the show was women lost their rights slowly and then all at once.
I know, I know, Iâm showing my white girl, US citizen privilege here. But honestly. I never considered these rights to be so new- only a few generations old. And I never considered how easily they could be lost.
Regardless of your option of RBG (she was far from perfect) you have to admit she helped pull women so far closer to equality than ever before. And itâs important to recognize that if we want to preserve our rights and keep pushing forward to be even more inclusive than RBG we have to wake up and reckon with the reality of not just our generation, but generations past and future. We canât take our rights for granted and we canât ignore those who are still suffering because theyâre not afforded the same privilege as us.

@indigopersei is the french language just always on the verge of getting someone accused of assault or..?
my friend, if only you knew
Itâs a very dangerous language to learn
Hereâs an interesting thing about French! Everything needs to have an article in front of it. Thatâs why itâs âla chatâ as opposed to just âchatâ. So, for instance, you could say la fille for the girl, or jeune fille for young girl, but you canât just say fille, because that means you are calling her a sex worker in a derogatory way.
The moral of the story is, if you want to make something rude in French, just take out the article in front of it. Yes, this works for nearly. every. word.
#now Iâm wondering how often my high school french teacher was silently screaming because of this little fact
Every year. Every year thereâs that kid who forgets that you canât translate âI am excitedâ to âJe suis excitĂ©eâ. And every year Monsieur Jordan has to slam the brakes before that kid can finish his sentence and then tactfully ask him not to announce to the class that he is horny.
âis the french language always on the vergeâ oh buddy, oh pal, i am so happy to break this news to you:Â
truly the language of love
women are more valid than men could ever be
