THEORY ABOUT COYLES HOMOSEXUALITY
Now remember, this is JUST a theory/headcanon. Take everything i say with. Grain of salt.
Coyle isnt bisexual, he is fully homosexual and I got proof. Hear me out:
Its the 1960s. Coyle was born in a conservative city. So in his mind, marrying a woman is normal, and being gay is bad, so he has a lot of internalized homophobia. I do have a theory he killed two of his teammates in the military because he found them... fraternizing in some way, and it freaked him out (because he liked what he saw).
He comes home, marriess his first wife, they try to get it on, but... he doesn't enjoy it. Obviously, it has nothing to do with him not being attracted to women, so there has to be something wrong with the wife, so he kills her. Marries a new wife, same thing, she can't pleasure him the way he wants her to, so he kills her and so on. Coyle is highly misogynistic, and because of his conservative views, he blames the women/ his wives for bot being able to please him. And to him thats their role, they camt fit their role, they have to go.
We can clearly see that Coyle does show his homosexual tendencies in the trials. The male Mannequins being posed in highly crude poses, having burn marks on their groin/ butt and chest, etc. Also, his comment about Francos' "prick". He hides it less but still shows a lot of shame and confusion about his own sexuality. I think him electrocuting himself could also be similar how, back then, people would whip themselves of they sinned. He is quite religous and talks a lot about god and the bible in his voicelines. And homosexuality was a sin, but he realized he liked the punishment a little too much. Eastermans comment, "How do you discipline a subject that's learned to crave the punishment as much as the reward." Is actually talking about Coyle in that matter.
Edit: an IMPORTANT matter,bisexuality didnt exist in the 50s/60s. The concept of bisexuality only took root much later around the 90s. You were either gay or straight and obv Coyle would want to be seen as straight.
Again, please dont take this too seriously. it's just me theorizing and yapping, trying to dissect RB symbolizing Coyle, especially with the new trailer.
