Rewatching Doctor Who for the millionth time (more specifically Eleven's seasons). And now I'm remembering why I so quickly got attached to his doctor specifically.

When I was a kid, I was the typical disney lover with a wire imagination. Used to believe the moon was a person, used to believe in Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland and Jack Frost from Rise of the Guardians.

But I was always particularly attached to the story of Peter Pan. The idea that there was somewhere far away from earth and a boy that could fly. I found comfort in it, and honestly? I still do.

When Matt Smith took on the role as the doctor, I was five years old. When I first watched it, I was seven. I grew up with his version of the doctor, you know? In my head, he was like a time-travelling Peter Pan. And so I found myself once again wishing to be a part of that world, imagining scenarios in my tiny little head that he'd appear one day to take me on an adventure.

And yeah, I write fanfics for his doctor, and David Tennant's, but I've always sort of seen the Doctor as a whole, as like, a father-figure of sorts. A guardian. Maybe it's because I watched it so young.

Anyway, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that I'm glad I can rewatch his seasons and find that same comfort that I had when I was a kid. Hell, maybe I'll start talking to the moon again.

...or maybe not, that makes me sound crazy. Anyway thanks for coming to my rant I doubt anyone will read this all the way through. Just in case, should I write a fic with Eleven and a daughterly reader???? It'll be very much a self-indulgent thing.
