welcome to ren's low effort, low activity, low maintenance stray dog side blog !! this is an impulsive decision and experimental effort to ultimately expand on storylines that have originated on my main fox blog. that being said, I am interested in the integrity and exploration of Kogami's character on his own right as I have interpreted him due to my interest in his narrative and its themes, but I want to emphasize that this is a side hustle to my main blog ( + @antinomos )

I'll be writing Kogami more often in his bsd verse, where he works for the Special Division for Unusual Powers under supervision as an Extremely Dangerous Ability User. ( You can read briefly about his ability here, details are largely unknown in-universe. ) Please consider that his main verse open for interactions. If you're unfamiliar with bsd, then dw I'll substitute details for a vague supernatural contemporary setting ( expect southern gothic & postmodern storytelling !! )

I will tentatively write him in his canon psycho-pass verse, but this is more reserved for friends and longtime writing partners that I've made on my main blog ; he'll also be strictly set during the events of season 1 and have his characterization as established there unless otherwise discussed and plotted.

I highly encourage that you or your character has already interacted with my Makishima in some capacity before approaching me to write Kogami with you.

Because I've interpreted Kogami to serve as the npc companion to my Makishima's storylines, I won't write with other Makishima portrayals.

I personally interpret Kogami as gay, and the themes of his narrative to be reflective of queer experiences. This will be reflected in my portrayal of him.

“Did I, Counselor Murdock?” He's abrasive for the sake of abrasion, cagey if only to hammer in a point and drive it through like the kick in the ass Murdock's received on his own unauthorized investigations into criminal operations the other man had no business looking into ( takes two to tangle, takes two to be a hypocrite, huh? ) . He's unwilling to cooperate with the defense that's been offered, plain and simple. The legal circumstances demanded he go on trial, under suspicion for a murder he did not commit, to be judged by a jury he wouldn't acknowledge as peers. It's not the fault of the attorney, but Kogami questions the man's methods and the vessels of his exercised integrity. A profile builds in his mind despite himself, sleuth hound to the bones, tracking out the scent of blood and busted knuckles. “You know,” he begins lowly, pliant enough, speculative rather than accusatory, as if he were willing to bend the knee and hang his head. “If I were on the jury, I'd call into question the soundness of the representing attorney's mind and his habits...” Violence is a bad habit, just as bad as smoking and lying. Were Kogami Shinya an honest man, he would have been moved by that testament of sincerity, swayed by the belief of another into confessing his truths to a faceless crowd who came to judge his character by an isolated incident in a beige courtroom. Pretty words that were only ever earnest and charming in the lines of a novel. I want them to see you for what you truly are. “I don't.” And that's the truth. “I'm not obligated to disclose that information, counselor. And for the record, I'm not resigned. I'm annoyed. If you want to try for constructive, then let's go with another story. Who says I have to be a detective, hah? — Just go with 'foreigner shit out of luck.'”
