As she turned onto Soho Square, she saw a not unfamiliar figure walking away from her front door. Knowing full well that Jonathan had also left the house early that morning, it was a curious thing indeed to see that Norrell’s man had apparently attempted to pay them a visit.

Quickening her pace a little, she called out when she was close enough to do so without shouting.

“Was there something that you needed, Mister Childermass?”

Though no signs of anxiety displayed themselves upon his countenance, he tapped an agitated rhythm with his left foot and lent upon a cane which was much too long for him.

“I am afraid he may be some time - he was called away on urgent business early this morning, and has yet to return home.” Arabella found that the brief, natural pause in conversation that came at the end of her apologetic statement allowed her a moment to consider the situation.

She was in no way able to force the man to leave, nor did she wish to appear rude should he be someone of importance (unlikely though that seemed) whom Jonathan had simply forgotten would be visiting (that was distinctly more likely). In the end, politeness won out.

“But if you wish to wait, then you should do so in the drawing room. I was about to send for some tea, if you would care for some?"

{ Hello there, anon.

I know the other Jonathan blogs are good - I’ve seen their posts through the ‘recommended’ feature on my dash, as well as through their interactions with other blogs that I follow. They all have different and excellent takes on him, and I want to take this opportunity by now to assure anyone who is concerned that my exclusivity when it comes to Jonathan blogs has nothing to do with the ‘quality’ of those around.

The thing is, my Arabella has exclusively roleplayed with @practicalmagician‘s Jonathan since the blogs were created last year - before there were any other active Jonathan blogs. I believe I touch upon this briefly in the ‘shipping’ section of my rules, but I wouldn’t actually have made a blog for Bell in the first place had Rebecca not told me she was planning to make one for Jonathan (that was the final ‘push’ I needed, so to speak). We have been shipping partners across a variety of blogs for years now, and the way I’ve come to write Arabella is tied to a lot of the headcanons that we’ve developed together.

The last thing that I want is for my exclusivity to make anyone feel upset or uncomfortable, but it isn’t something that will be changing. }
