“I dunno, we’ve got to rebuild after all. I don’t think any governments with try to make trouble until after everything is back to snuff. Unless there’s going to be drama over territory. The alliance should be pretty safe, there’s not enough Batarians to argue for their territory. And new spots are probably going to be opening in old Quarian territory and maybe even Rachni space. I don’t think we’ll have the same degree of bickering until after the cities are rebuilt.” He chuckled and waved his hand, “at least, a guy can hope.”
Callisto thought about that. “Makes sense, although I assume each species is going to be closely watching the others, seeing how the balance of power has changed after the war. Paranoia and lust for power are things that tend to run across all species, unfortunately.”
“It’s a little refreshing to think of actually. That across such massive distances, with so many distinct species, we can still find something in common. Admittedly what he have in common are our vices,” Ethan chuckled a bit, and shifted his weight, “but still, it’s something to build on, at least long enough to find the common virtues.”
Callisto chuckled a bit as well. "Too bad we can't share more of those virtues. I suppose everyone has some sort of good side to them. Some people's good sides just get buried under the bad things they do. That's life, I suppose."

Callisto was silently wheeling her way along when she saw the man in front of her. She stopped instantly, nodding in greeting. "Hello there. Name's Callisto."

Callisto gave the woman before her a friendly smile. "Hi there. Name's Callisto. What's your name?"
OOC: Cerberus Players
So last night I did this.
It’s the beginnings of a list of MERP people on Tumblr who roleplay Cerberus or Cerberus oriented characters. I added the people I’m currently following (I left out the Mirandas, for obvious reasons, but if you want on there let me know), but I’m sure there are more out there. Just a helpful resource for anyone who wants it. If you know anyone who should be added, or if you would like to be added, let me know!

Callisto looked at the handsome man before her, her lips curling into a smile. Well-built, nice eyes, slightly mysterious. Just the kind of person she liked to get to know.
“Hello,” she greeted. “Name’s Callisto. What’s yours?”
“Troy Achilles, N7, Slayer-class, blah blah blah.” He rushed his response, clearing his throat as he slid a cigarette out of his shirt pocket. “Uh… Don’t mind if I smoke, do ya?”
Callisto raised an eyebrow at the introduction, but her smile didn't leave her face. "I don't mind." She looked him up and down approvingly. "You're an N7 operative, hmm? I can imagine you kicking a fair amount of ass."

Callisto watched Ariel’s reaction, finding it hard to interpret. The woman was stone-faced, like ice; beauty was there, clearly, but it was hardened, by battle no doubt, angular, sharp if you were to try and touch it. Strength to be admired, for sure, but to be kept at a distance. She was sure that Shepard liked it that way.
“Did I startle you by being so blunt?” Callisto asked. “That wasn’t my intention, I just didn’t see a reason to deny it.”
“No, you didn’t,” the Commander said almost immediately, her gaze shifting down to the girl again. The woman had a hard face, one that was formed by death and war. She disliked being touched or even being commented on her beauty. She knew she was beautiful, but she saw it as a weakness. People wouldn’t take her seriously if she got cosmetic surgery to eras the scars to the presence of her cybernetics. She liked power more than she liked beauty.
“Hackers usually work for someone and during wartime there’s bound to be someone who picked you up.” She folded her arms across her chest. “So who hired you?”
Callisto's eyes narrowed. Anger wrote itself in the features of her face. "The last time I got 'picked up' for a job, my employers wiped out my damn colony. Bunch of alien terrorists. Weren't too happy when I saw they were about to use my services to take town other human colonies and wiped their databases."
She took a breath, swallowing her anger as best she could. She sat back in her wheelchair. "I choose who I work for now."

“Nothing brings people together quite like a common enemy. Say what you will about first contact, it got the nations and colonies to stop bitching at each other.”
Callisto chuckled. “You’re certainly right about that. Now, if we could just get that cooperation to stick once the common enemy is gone. That’s probably just wishful thinking.”

“This war isn’t getting any better though. Every time I go to the refugee camps all I see is more people. More people who los their homes to the metal monsters, and now they’re so packed into the docks that they can barely find space to put the cots.”
Callisto nodded, her face grim. “Yeah. I didn’t realize quite how badly it was until I arrived here and saw all of the refugees.” She chuckled almost bitterly. “Finally, everyone in the universe has something in common: our people are all in big trouble.”
“Nothing brings people together quite like a common enemy. Say what you will about first contact, it got the nations and colonies to stop bitching at each other.”

[Her face darkens. She’s aware that not all Citadel races welcome humans warmly - she saw enough of that on Sur’Kesh - but in the middle of a war, terrorism against humans, one of whom spearheads the fight against the Reapers, is, is…]
A terror attack, at a time like this? God, some people are stupider than I give them credit for. And ought to be wiped out. Taking advantage of allied civilians in a war…
If you don’t mind my asking, who specifically attacked your home?
*She looks away, swallowing hard* I don’t know, to be honest. It’s…a bit of a complicated story. They…hired me to write a program for them, and when I dug a bit deeper into their databases, I saw they had plans to use it against our colony, and other human colonies. I wiped their databases and tried to evacuate everyone, but I had no idea they were in orbit. They wiped everything out.
There was a Krogan or two, a few Turians, Vorcha…but mostly Batarians. I think their leader was a Batarian. They’re still angry about the Alpha Relay, I guess.
[She extends her arm, reaching for Callisto’s shoulder in an attempt at a comforting gesture.] That’s a terrible story. I’m sorry you couldn’t get help sooner. How has it been since you arrived here?
Impressive how you found that data. I shouldn’t be surprised, I suppose - young minds are nimblest when it comes to security. I have a little experience with that myself.
Batarians? That makes sense. Still completely stupid of them - do they want to survive, or bring everyone down with them? Have you informed the Alliance?
*Callisto flinches a bit when she's touched, but smiles nonetheless* Thanks. I got help as quickly as I could, but considering I can't walk...
It's been better since I've arrived here. I did inform the Alliance; they were the ones I contacted when I got the comm tower up and running again, figured they would be the most likely to respond. They came, surveyed the damage, and took me here to Huerta Memorial.
...I've dabbled in my fair share of hacking, let's say. It was something exciting to do, something I was good at, able to do.
May I ask what you do here on the Citadel?

Callisto chuckled. “Yeah, I’m a hacker.” She looked down at her legs, the dead weight that dragged both her body and soul down. “I was born this way. Spine didn’t fuse properly.” The words are soft, slightly pained, but plainly spoken. She has lived with this her entire life, but that didn’t make it easier.
She looked back up at the Commander. “I’ve lived with it all my life. Can’t do anything but deal with it.”
How unfortunate. She ought to have more sympathy for a girl who born with a disability, but she was never a sympathetic woman. Her eyes narrowed at the chuckle from the other. Nobody chuckles at the title, let alone admits to being a hacker. Not in her presence.
“Hmn.” She blinked slowly. She girl was no cripple confined to a wheelchair and her demeanor didn’t sit well with her either. In fact, nothing about this girl sat well with her.
Then again, it could have just been that the Commander was tyrannically paranoid.

Callisto chuckled a bit, smirking. “I tried the best ‘proper channel’ I could think of. Got farther than I expected into your databases before your techs chased me out. Don’t know if you heard about that little break-in or not.”
She rotated her right arm with a grimace. “Regardless, what exactly are your ‘proper channels’, hmm?”
“I’m sure,” he said, unimpressed. Then, “If you’re as good as you claim to be, find a recruiter and contact them. Stop wasting my time.”
"I didn't know you guys were bold enough to have recruiters," Callisto said, surprise evident in her voice. "Considering how many people are against what you do, I assumed you would keep a lower profile." Her lips curled into a smile. "I like it. I'll go find one then, shouldn't be too hard."
She looked him over. "Still, I would think someone like you wouldn't be so quick to dismiss someone as a 'waste of time'."
MEDICAL REPORT
Huerta Memorial Hospital, Citadel Medical Report - Name: Doe, Jane Sex: Female Age: Unknown Height: Unknown, unable to stand for measurements due to injuries Weight: Unknown, unable to stand for measurements due to injuries Initial Admission: Patient was brought into the emergency ward by Alliance soldiers, believed to be the only survivor of her colony from a terrorist attack. Patient referred to herself as ‘Callisto’, and would not divulge her real name or sign releases to grant access to any medical or government records. When pressed, patient would only state that she was born with an improperly fused spine and leg paralysis. Patient was in critical condition with several severe injuries: -Left and right legs broken in several places -Right arm broken in shoulder to elbow region -Left shoulder dislocated -Four broken ribs on left side -Several lacerations and burn marks on torso -Black eye (right) -Several bruises and cuts all over body -Concussion Patient claimed that alien terrorists attacked her colony and cornered her. One grabbed her left arm, pulling her out of her wheelchair and punching her in the face on the right side, connecting with her eye. She fell to the ground, and several of the attackers delivered kicks and punches at that point, specifically to the left side of her face, torso, and ribs. Patient claims they then began to torture her, slicing with knives and burning her with ejected thermal clips. They then proceeded to use broken metallic pieces of nearby buildings to break her legs. Patient claims that they then continued to attack her until she passed out from a blow to the head. When patient awoke, she was alone. Initial medical examinations corroborated with patient’s story. Treatment: Patient was immediately rushed to have broken bones set and mended. Left shoulder was popped back into place with no difficulty. The breaks in the right arm and ribs were fairly clean and were set with normal difficulty. Patient’s legs required reconstructive surgery. Several metal rods, plates, and screws were used to give legs normal functionality again despite inability to use them. Surgery and recovery went smoothly with the inability to feel pain in lower extremities. Burns and lacerations were treated, although scarring is inevitable. Black eye and bruises faded with rest. Patient was kept awake long enough to ensure that her concussion was not a threat to her health. Follow-Up: Patient was advised that physical therapy for her legs and arm would be strongly advised. She met with a physical therapist and after two sessions refused to see the therapist again, claiming she had enough exercises to do on her own. She requested that the money to be spent on her therapy be used for a wheelchair instead of physical therapy, and the request was approved after doctors concluded that they could not convince her otherwise. Patient was also given a strong recommendation of psychological therapy to deal with trauma, which she also declined. Patient left as soon as her attending doctor approved discharge from hospital.
