Running Water

The mystery person rubs his shoulder and Hoseok leans into it, rolling limply onto his back. There are trees above him, water lapping at his boots and stinking bitter and metallic, like the aftermath of a heavy rain. Against all odds, he’s staring up at the stars again. Alive. He can hardly believe it. “You’re okay. Breathe.” Hoseok gasps, shuddering violently at that deep voice — that accent. Those eyes fill his vision again. Rich dark brown, warm with concern — as warm as the hand now cradling Hoseok’s cheek.
